Big Disrespect
Point at someone and your hand grows a middle finger. Let go and it is gone.
Features
- It follows your own pointing — Point with the left mouse button and your left hand does it, the right button and your right hand does. Both at once works. It reads the game's own pointing state rather than the mouse, so it follows whatever you have the arms bound to.
- In your character's colour — A curved middle finger and a stubby thumb, rounded at both ends, wearing your character's own material and colour, and repainted whenever you are.
- Everyone gets one — Other players sprout them when they point, too, so long as you are the one running the mod.
- Your friends need it too — The fingers are drawn on your machine and nowhere else, so anyone you play with has to install this before they can see yours. Get them to.
- Shaped to taste — Length, thickness, how far the finger curves and which way it leans, where it sits on the hand, and the angle of the thumb. All live: edit the config, press a key, done.
- Works in third person — The fingers follow whichever body is on screen, so they show up on the third-person character too, without either mod knowing about the other.
Installation
With a mod manager (Gale, r2modman), install this and let it pull BepInEx in. Manually: install BepInEx 6 IL2CPP (win-x64), run the game once so it unpacks, then extract this archive into the Big Walk folder — the one with Big Walk.exe in it — so that FlipOff.dll lands in BepInEx/plugins/.
Big Walk is an IL2CPP game, so BepInEx 5 will not work.
On Steam Deck, SteamOS and Linux, BepInEx needs a DLL override to load under Proton. Put this in the game's Launch Options: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%
Controls
Nothing to press to use it — just point.
-— Turn the mod on and off.=— Re-read the config file, so the shape can be changed with the game running.
Configuration
BepInEx/config/deck.bigwalk.flipoff.cfg. Every size is a multiple of your hand's own diameter, which the mod measures off your hand, so a setting looks the same on any character. Lengths are how far a finger sticks out past the hand.
- Enabled — Draw the fingers at all. Default: true.
- ShowOnOtherPlayers — Draw them on other people when they point. Default: true.
- AlwaysOn — Draw them permanently, for lining the shape up in a mirror. Default: false.
- ToggleKeys / ReloadKeys — Defaults:
MinusandEquals. - Aim — Which way the finger points:
WorldUpfor the classic gesture,PlayerUpto lean with your character,Armto send it down the forearm so you flip off whatever you are aiming at. Default: WorldUp. - FingerLength / FingerWidth — How far the middle finger sticks out, and how thick. Defaults: 1.6 and 0.5.
- FingerCurve — Degrees the finger curves over its length. The sign is which way it leans. Default: -22.
- FingerTaper — Thins the tip against the base. 1 is one thickness all the way up. Default: 1.
- ThumbLength / ThumbWidth — The thumb, shorter and thicker. Defaults: 0.8 and 0.55.
- ThumbAngle / ThumbRoll — How far the thumb swings off the finger, and around it. Defaults: 75 and 0.
- MirrorLeftHand — The left thumb leans the other way, as real ones do. Default: true.
- FingerOut — Rolls the spot the finger grows from around the hand, towards the fingertips. Default: 0.3.
- Sink — How deep in the hand each finger is rooted, as a fraction of its radius. 0 is the middle. Default: 0.
- HandSize — Overrides the measured hand size, in metres. 0 measures it. Default: 0.
- MatchBodyColour — Take your character's colour as well as their material. Default: true.
- LogProfile — Log what the mod actually costs every five seconds: how often it ran, the average and worst time, and the share of the clock. Default: false.
- DumpHierarchy / LogVerbose — Diagnostics for a bug report. Default: false.
Notes
- If the curve leans the wrong way, flip the sign on
FingerCurveand press=. Which direction reads as "outward" depends on the angle you are looking from, so it is a setting rather than a decision. - The mod logs the hand size it measured every time it sets a character up. If the fingers come out the wrong size, that line in
BepInEx/LogOutput.logis the thing to look at, andHandSizeoverrides it. - Nothing is added to the character, no game state is written, and no flag is borrowed and put back, so this cannot strand another mod's settings.
- Every key setting takes a comma-separated list, so you can bind several. Steam eats the function keys on some machines, which is why none are used by default.
Built with BepInEx and HarmonyX. Do what you like with it — fork it, reuse the code, roll it into a pack. Credit appreciated, not required.
CHANGELOG
Changelog
1.0.1
Both hands are the same size now. Each hand was measuring the character independently, and because the size comes from a bounding box that depends on the pose, one hand's fingers could come out a quarter bigger than the other's and stay that way for the session. The character measures once and both hands use it.
No more hitch the first time you point. Building the meshes and touching each type for the first time cost a dropped frame, right when you were looking at your own hand. That work now happens as the game loads.
Cheaper per frame, and measurable: LogProfile in the config reports what the mod actually costs — how often it ran, the average and worst time, and the share of the clock — rather than asking you to take a claim on trust.
The note about the game's meshes not being readable is logged once now instead of every time somebody points.
1.0.0
First release.
Point at someone and your hand grows a middle finger and a thumb. It reads the game's own pointing state rather than the mouse, so it follows whatever you have the two arms bound to, and other players sprout them when they point as well. It draws on your own machine only, so your friends need the mod before they can see yours.
The fingers wear your character's own material and colour, follow whichever body is on screen so they show up in third person too, and are shaped entirely from the config — length, thickness, curve, and where they sit on the hand — with a key that re-reads the file so you can tune them with the game running.
