README

Big Teleportation: A Proof of Concept

You press 5 and a circle of orange blooms beneath your leg stumps. You must walk away from the orange ring as a man leaves his burning home, out deeper into the island.

You walk as far away as you like from the orange circle. Then you press 6. A second circle, blue as a drowned man's lips, will scar the ground.

You jump.

Welcome back to the orange circle. After 3 seconds, jump again to be back at the blue circle.

You get it.

Held objects should stay with you. If you drop one in a circle before jumping, it may or may not fly off a bit.

Since this is just a proof of concept, should be limited to just the host currently.

I've Fallen and the Earth Has Claimed Me (Or: I Can't Get Up)

Sometimes the geometry traps you. You will find yourself wedged in the scree, a broken thing in the dust, unable to rise, stuck on your bottom.

Press Z or whatever your crouch button is, and you ought stand again.

But what if the portal was laid upon an odd slant? What if you are trapped in an infinite and terrible recursion of one portal never letting you stand? Cast both circles upon the exact same ground. The world should resume its slow and indifferent rotation.

Controls

Key Action
5 Orange Cricle
6 Blue Circle
Jump Teleports you between the circles.

Requirements

Config

None yet. This is just a proof of concept.

TO DO, MAYBE

  • Maybe to fix the multiplayer, so that all might share in the teleporting sickness.
  • Maybe the preservation of the momentum. And the velocity. And the trajectory. So that a person leaping from a cliff might exit the portal as a cannonball of bone and gristle, carrying speed elsewhere.
  • Maybe to place the circles not on the floor but upon the walls.
  • And if upon the walls, maybe to render through them the live and terrible truth of the destination via virtual render-target cameras.
  • Maybe the tossing of items through the portals without the burden of holding them.
  • Maybe to make the sound carry, so that the cries of friends might echo across the threshold.
