README

MagSlide

Reloading in BONELAB is a bit too magnetic. Wave a mag anywhere near a gun and it teleports itself in. This mod turns that into a real motion: bring the mag to the well, feel it catch, then push it up until it clicks. You can stop halfway, ride it up and down, or pull it back out.

The mod learns a gun the first time a mag sits in it (guns that spawn loaded teach themselves), and it remembers what it learned between sessions. So the very first insert on a brand new gun is a normal one, and every insert after that uses the slide.

This mod is experimental. It works best with pistols right now, and improvements are on the way. Modded guns are supported.

What it does

  • Guns stop grabbing mags from a distance. The catch only happens right at the mag well.
  • Once caught, the mag rides a physical track in your hand. Push it most of the way in and the gun takes it with the usual click.
  • Pull it out the bottom of the well and it's back in your hand, no click, no reload.
  • Ejecting drops the mag onto the track so it slides out instead of flying.

Setup

Drop MagSlide.dll into your BONELAB Mods folder, or let your mod manager install it. You need MelonLoader and BoneLib.

Credit to Schmitty's Staccato 2011XC, the mod that the mag sliding idea comes from.

CHANGELOG

MagSlide Changelog

v1.1.0

Fixed mags sometimes clipping through the gun while sliding in. Mags now line themselves up in the well on the way in instead of going in crooked. New Insert Depth slider sets how far you push before the click, and the click happens a little deeper by default now, and there's a Forget Learned Guns button under Advanced for any gun that acts weird.

v1.0.0

release.
