Expanded Aim Assist
Expanded Aim Assist improves Gatekeeper's built-in controller assistance, enables it for keyboard and mouse, makes target tracking yield to deliberate player input, and corrects the offset between the crosshair direction and the actual projectile origin for supported ranged primary attacks.
Features
- Improved controller aim-assist coverage and tracking.
- Keyboard-and-mouse aim assist using Gatekeeper's existing target-selection rules.
- Native AIM ASSIST toggle in the Keyboard and Mouse settings menu.
- Input-scaled tracking: normal assistance at low input, progressively less pull during deliberate movement, and near-zero pull at strong input.
- Configurable mouse-only held-target break radius in screen pixels, defaulting to 400.
- Configurable acquisition range, sphere coverage, tracking speed, and controller break radius.
- Crosshair/projectile-origin correction for the ranged primaries of Aegis, Hybrid, Pandora, Tech Hunter, and Mediator.
- Preserves Gatekeeper's target validation, excluded enemies, line-of-sight checks, target priority, camera ray, and ability placement.
Mouse target release
During strong mouse input, the existing held-target loss check measures from the physical cursor to the current target. Input Scaling.MouseHeldTargetBreakRadiusPixels controls the required screen-space distance directly; the default is 400 pixels. This setting does not alter controller target retention or controller attenuation.
When the mouse settles, Gatekeeper's native acquisition and prioritization resume. The mod does not clear targets manually or introduce a separate target-selection algorithm.
Crosshair correction and close range
For supported cursor-aimed ranged primaries, the mod corrects parallax between the crosshair ray and the projectile's actual origin. At a root-plane range of 3.25 world units or less, correction returns Gatekeeper's unmodified native direction. Beyond 3.25 units, the proven projectile-origin correction is used unchanged.
The hard close-range cutoff can look slightly unusual extremely close to the character, but it prevents pathological close-range misses while preserving medium- and far-range correction exactly.
Configuration
Launch the game once to generate BepInEx/config/com.prom.gatekeeper.aimassist.cfg. Important settings include:
General.EnableForMouseKeyboardInput Scaling.EnableInputScaledAssistInput Scaling.MouseFullAssistBelowInput Scaling.MouseZeroAssistAtInput Scaling.MouseHeldTargetBreakRadiusPixels(default:400)Input Scaling.ControllerFullAssistBelowInput Scaling.ControllerZeroAssistAtProjectile Correction.EnableProjectileOriginCorrection
Diagnostic logging is disabled by default. The in-game Keyboard and Mouse AIM ASSIST toggle updates the keyboard/mouse setting immediately.
Installation
Install with r2modman or another Thunderstore-compatible mod manager. BepInEx IL2CPP is required and listed as a package dependency.
Known limitation
The mod expands Gatekeeper's built-in selection system rather than replacing it, so the native forward fallback does not guarantee strict whole-screen targeting in every situation.
CHANGELOG
Changelog
0.5.6
- Enabled Gatekeeper's existing crosshair lock and pull for Nidum, Bastion, Void Model, and Maverick.
- Preserved each melee character's attacks and ability behaviour unchanged.
- Added
General.EnableForMeleeCharacters, enabled by default. - Retained controller and keyboard/mouse input scaling, physical-mouse target release, projectile-origin correction, and the 3.25-unit close-range cutoff unchanged.
- Removed the temporary melee validation logging used during live testing.
0.5.5
- Added input-scaled aim-assist pull for mouse/keyboard and controller. Low input retains normal assistance; deliberate input progressively reduces only the current-target follow contribution.
- Added mouse-only target release through Gatekeeper's existing held-target loss path, using the physical cursor during strong input.
- Added
MouseHeldTargetBreakRadiusPixels, an editable screen-pixel radius with a default of 400. - Preserved controller attenuation, controller target retention, acquisition candidates, target priority, line of sight, exclusions, and native reacquisition.
- Retained crosshair/projectile-origin correction and the stateless 3.25-unit close-range native-direction cutoff.
- Disabled temporary mouse-retention diagnostics by default for release builds.
0.4.3
- Added crosshair/projectile-origin offset correction for the ranged primaries of Aegis, Hybrid, Pandora, Tech Hunter, and Mediator.
- Added a stateless close-range safeguard: ranges at or below 3.25 world units use the unmodified native direction.
- Preserved the proven projectile-origin correction unchanged above 3.25 units.
- Retained expanded controller and keyboard/mouse aim assist, the in-game keyboard/mouse toggle, and existing configuration options.
0.3.3
- Added the current package icon.
0.3.2
- Added controller aim-assist improvements and updated configuration options.
- Added keyboard/mouse aim assist and its in-game settings toggle.
