GK2 Faster Doors
Faster doors: the game's 1-2 s memory clean-up runs only every 10th door (or when memory has grown), and your own doors and map travel fade faster. Ctrl+F9 to compare.

GK2 Faster Doors
Doors in a fraction of the time: no 1-2 s freeze in black, and quicker fades.
On every door and teleport, Graveyard Keeper 2 unloads unused assets and runs a full memory clean-up while the screen is black. On a grown save that freezes the game for 1-2 seconds, every time. This mod lets most doors skip it:
- The full clean-up still runs on every 10th door, or sooner when the game's memory has grown by 300 MB since the last one, so memory levels off.
- Loading a save always gets the full clean-up.
- Doors you walk through and map travel fade faster (0.15 s instead of 0.3 s each way) and wait less in black (0.1 s instead of 0.3 s). Cutscenes, fights and quest scripts keep the game's own timing.
- A hotkey can switch the mod off and on while playing, to compare with the unmodded game. It isn't set by default: pick one in the settings.
- No balance changes, no saves touched.
Don't combine it with Instant Transitions or GK2 Performance: they change the same door code. The log warns if one of them is installed.
Settings
In the Mods menu (with GK2 Mod Framework), in ConfigurationManager (F1) or in BepInEx/config/gk2.fasterdoors.cfg:
- General.Enabled: skip the clean-up on most doors.
- General.FullCleanupEveryDoors (10): the full clean-up runs at least on every Nth door. 1 = every door, like the unmodded game.
- General.FullCleanupAfterGrowthMB (300): run it sooner once memory has grown this much.
- General.GcOnSkippedDoors (on): where the game has no incremental garbage collection, a skipped door still gets a quick managed collection.
- Transitions.Enabled (on): faster fades for your own doors and map travel.
- Transitions.FadeSeconds (0.15): each fade, to black and back. The game: 0.3.
- Transitions.BlackPauseSeconds (0.1): pause in black. The game: 0.3.
- Hotkeys.Toggle (not set): switch the mod off and on for this session.
Manual install
Put GK2FasterDoors.dll into BepInEx/plugins/GK2FasterDoors/. Needs BepInEx 5.4.23.x (x64). To uninstall, delete the folder.
CHANGELOG
Changelog
0.2.0
- Added: faster transitions for doors you walk through and for map travel: each fade 0.15 s instead of 0.3 s, and 0.1 s in black instead of 0.3 s (all configurable). Cutscenes, fights and quest scripts keep the game's timing.
- Added: a hotkey that switches the mod off and on while playing, with a notice, to compare doors with the unmodded game. Not set by default (Hotkeys.Toggle).
- Added: all settings in the GK2 Mod Framework's Mods menu, in 11 languages.
- Added: where the game has no incremental garbage collection, a door that skips the clean-up still gets a quick managed collection (GcOnSkippedDoors).
- Added: a warning in the log when Instant Transitions or GK2 Performance is installed too (they change the same door code), and the memory level after every full clean-up.
0.1.1
- Added: one line per door in BepInEx\LogOutput.log with its time and what the mod did, and a note if another mod also patches the door code. So a slow door can be looked into from the log.
0.1.0
- First release: most doors and teleports skip the game's memory clean-up; it runs in full every 10th door, or sooner when memory has grown by 300 MB.
