Fishypedia

Trophy Plaques & Catch Stats for How to Fish

Turns the Fishpedia into a trophy case, and answers the two questions the vanilla journal never did: how many of these have I actually caught, and what bait do I need?

Fishypedia

What it adds

Every creature is mounted on a wooden plaque with an engraved brass nameplate, and earns a medal in the corner once you land its shiny (drip) variant.

Hover any creature for its full record:

  • Caught — how many times you hooked it
  • Sold — how many you sold
  • Earned — total money it has made you
  • Deaths — how many times it killed you
  • Bait — which bait catches it, and your exact odds with each

The vanilla journal is profile-wide, so the tooltip shows both scopes side by side: your lifetime totals under All, and just the world you are currently in under Save. Nothing to toggle, no extra keybind.

About the bait odds

They are the game's real numbers, not estimates. Each bait carries a weighted table of what it can hook and the game rolls against that table alone — where you fish and how deep you cast do not change what is possible. So "Worm 35%" means 35% of catches on that bait will be that creature.

Two things the percentage does not fold in: bosses are skipped while a boss is already active, and shiny variants are rolled separately after the creature is chosen.

Installation

With a mod manager (recommended): install from Thunderstore. BepInEx is pulled in as a dependency.

Manually: install BepInEx 5 (x64), then drop FishpediaStats.dll into BepInEx/plugins/.

Open your Fishpedia and hover a creature. To confirm it loaded, check BepInEx/LogOutput.log for:

Good to know

  • Stats start counting when you install. The game never recorded these numbers, so catches from before the mod cannot be recovered.
  • Your saves are never touched. Stats live in their own BepInEx/config/FishpediaStats.json, keyed by the same creature IDs the journal uses. Uninstalling cannot corrupt or lose anything.
  • Multiplayer counts only your own actions, so you get a personal record rather than the lobby's. Catches and deaths track correctly whether you host or join. Selling is resolved by the host, so Sold and Earned are only recorded when you are hosting or playing solo.
  • On a gamepad the game hides the cursor, so there is nothing to hover with. Set ShowInlineStats = true to print the stats under each creature instead.
  • Deaths are credited to creatures that damage you directly. Poison, fire, drowning and explosions are not blamed on a fish.
  • The game flags bosses as shiny when you kill them, so a boss earns its medal on the first kill.

Configuration

Launch the game once, then edit BepInEx/config/alexandre.howtofish.fishpediastats.cfg.

DisplayHideForUndiscovered (true), ShowBait (true), ShowBaitChance (true), ShowInlineStats (false, needed on a gamepad)

TrophyShowFrame (true), FramePadding (14), WoodDarkColor (4A2A13), WoodLightColor (A9743A), WoodEdgeColor (2A1608), ShowMedalForDrip (true), AlwaysShowMedal (false), MedalColor (E8C24A), MedalRibbonColor (C8102E), MedalScale (0.24), ShowNameplate (true), NameplateColor (C79A3A), NameplateEdgeColor (5A4310), NameplateWidth (0.98)

TooltipTooltipWidth (340), TooltipFontScale (0.72)

Inline (only when ShowInlineStats is on) — ExtraOffsetX / ExtraOffsetY (0 / 0), TextFontScale (0.62), TextColor (C8C8C8)

TrackingDeathAttributionWindow (8), seconds after a creature hurts you that it can still be blamed for your death

Colour options are applied when the art is generated, so they take effect after a restart. The plaque, medal and nameplate are drawn in code at runtime rather than shipped as image files, so the mod stays a single DLL with no assets to install.

Uninstall

Remove the mod. Your recorded stats stay in BepInEx/config/FishpediaStats.json — delete that too if you want them gone. Removing the mod does not affect your saves or the vanilla journal.
