RemoverOfFog
Removes exterior fog on most moons, including many custom moon packs.
Originally created by the_croods. This fork is maintained and updated for current LC versions.
What it does
Disables the global fog volume on each moon you land on. Works on vanilla moons and most custom moon packs (Tolian, LLL-based, etc.). Does not remove eclipsed-weather fog or indoor/local atmosphere effects (steam vents, interior mist).
Config
| Option | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Smart ambient fog removal? | true | Recommended. Disables fog on any global Volume (moon-wide atmosphere), not just one named "VolumeMain". Fixes custom moons that ship their own fog volume under a different name. |
| All fog disable? | false | Legacy mode. Removes fog from every Volume in the scene, including status effects and light-scattering volumes. Can make scenes darker. Not recommended — use smart mode instead. |
| Diagnostic mode? | false | Logs every Volume in the scene (name, profile, fog params) without changing anything. For investigating a moon's fog setup. Turn off when done. |
Changelog
1.1.0
- README updated to document smart ambient mode (no code changes from 1.0.7).
1.0.7
- New "smart ambient" targeting: disables fog on any global Volume with a Fog override, regardless of its object name. Fixes custom moons that ship their own fog volume (e.g. Tolian Rend/Egypt/Budapest/Celestria).
- Excludes local/bounded Volumes and known status-effect profiles (Poison/Drunk/Underwater/Flashbang) so those visuals aren't broken.
- Smart mode is now the default. Legacy "All fog disable?" kept for edge cases but no longer recommended.
1.0.6
- Fixed fog not being removed after landing on a moon (scan now runs on each scene load instead of latching early)
- Repackaged to remove redundant nested folder in zip
1.0.5
- Added network prefab registration (Thunderstore policy for client-side mods)
1.0.4
- Added TeamAzure team to manifest
1.0.3
- Forked from the_croods/RemoverOfFog 1.0.2
- Modernized build (NuGet packages)
- Fixed per-frame FindObjectsOfType performance issue
- Updated for LC v81

CHANGELOG
Changelog
1.1.0
- README updated to document smart ambient mode (no code changes from 1.0.7).
1.0.7
- Replaced name-based fog targeting (
"VolumeMain"only) with "smart ambient" targeting: any GLOBAL Volume carrying an active Fog override is now removed, not just one with that exact object name. Fixes custom moons that ship their own differently-named sky/fog volume (e.g. aSky and Fog Global Volumeobject with a moon-specific profile) — fog was previously left untouched on those moons even with the mod active. - Smart ambient mode explicitly excludes local/bounded Volumes (indoor pockets, security cameras) and known gameplay status-effect profiles (Poison, Drunk, Underwater, Flashbang, Inside-Factory-Sky) so those visual effects are never disabled.
- Smart ambient mode is now the default. The old "All fog disable?" (disables Fog on every Volume, including status effects) is kept as a legacy/manual override but is no longer recommended — it can cause scenes to go dark from lost HDRP light-scattering fill.
- Added an optional "Diagnostic mode?" that logs every Volume in a scene (name, global vs. local, Fog override state/params) without changing removal behavior. Off by default.
1.0.6
- Fixed fog not being removed after landing on a moon. The scan was latching on the first frame (in the menu, before any moon fog volume existed) and never re-running. It now rescans on every scene load (with a short retry window for late-spawning volumes), so fog is reliably removed on each moon.
- Repackaged so the plugin DLL sits directly under
BepInEx/plugins(removed a redundant nested folder from the previous zip).
1.0.5
- Added network prefab registration so all lobby players are required to have the mod (Thunderstore policy for client-side advantage mods).
1.0.4
- Modernized build; fixed a per-frame FindObjectsOfType performance issue.
