Portable Terminal
Version 0.1.9 — for Lethal Company v81
A purchasable briefcase that deploys into a portable ship terminal. Tap E to use; hold E to pack it up. Host and all clients required.
Controls
- Buy Portable terminal from the terminal store for 250 credits.
- Carry the briefcase and use left click to deploy it nearby.
- Look at the deployed terminal and tap E to use it. The terminal opens when you release the key. The on-screen prompt reads: “Tap interact to use the terminal. Hold to pick up”.
- Type commands directly into the monitor. Press Esc to exit.
- Follow the hold-progress bar and hold E for 0.8 seconds to fold it into a briefcase and pick it up through the game's normal pickup system. A free inventory slot is required.
The interact action follows your game's keybindings. The briefcase can use either a normal inventory slot or the equipment/utility slot, weighs approximately 10 lb, and does not use a battery. Select the briefcase before deploying it.
Shared ship terminal
The portable unit opens the actual ship terminal, using its command parser, credits, purchases, radar, bestiary, and installed terminal additions. It shares the normal command restrictions and purchased ship equipment.
Only one person can use the ship terminal system at a time, including portable units. A deployed unit cannot be packed up while someone is using it. Reservations are released when the user exits, dies, disconnects, or stops responding.
While in use, the real ship terminal canvas appears on the portable monitor and its input field receives keyboard focus. The interface returns to the ship when you exit. Third-party commands with their own location checks or replacement UI may require compatibility changes.
Installation
The host and every client need this mod, BepInExPack, and LethalLib 1.2.0 or newer.
Install with your mod manager, or copy the ZIP's PortableTerminal folder into BepInEx/plugins in your game or mod manager profile folder. Restart after installation.
The item uses native pickup/drop networking and native item save data for its deployed state. Normal game rules determine whether equipment left outside the ship survives departure.
First test
This is an initial build. Compilation, protocol, input, session-lock, and native-API checks have been performed; live Unity and multiplayer behavior have not been tested here.
Test buying, deploying, running help and view monitor, exiting, and holding E to pick it up. Repeat as a joining client. Also test that the ship terminal is locked while the portable terminal is in use and available again afterward.
If opening, packing, or pickup fails, provide the host's and affected client's BepInEx/LogOutput.log files.
