README

Bustling Fungus

Stand still, and a green ring heals you and anyone standing in it.

Bustling Fungus is a new White powerup. After you stand still for 1 second, you and allies within 3.5 m (+1.5 m per stack) heal for 2% (+1% per stack) of their own max HP per second. It does not need food. It heals HP only, not shield.

One stack at 100 max HP is about 2 HP per second. Two stacks is about 3 HP per second, out to 5 m.

Not quite Risk of Rain 2

RoR2 heals 4.5% (+2.25% per stack) and adds every overlapping ward together. This mod heals less, on purpose, because one Broccoli stack in Muck is only 0.25 HP per second. Overlapping auras do add, each at this mod's rate. Two 1-stack auras are 4% per second. One 2-stack aura is 3% per second.

With Survivors installed, an Engineer's turret projects this aura while that Engineer has the powerup. The turret counts as standing still. Two turrets covering you heal twice. Standing still inside your own turret heals twice. Each extra overlapping source adds its own heal. A dead Engineer's turrets keep healing allies while they stand, as in Risk of Rain 2.

Multiplayer

Everyone in the lobby needs this mod at version 0.1.3, and the same other powerup mods. A 0.1.1 player does not understand 0.1.3 beacons and can throw on them. A vanilla peer does not know the new id. Ally healing uses the same effect message as Knuts Hammer, with an id vanilla would not understand.

Your heal rate and radius come from your own config. They are not synced. If your friend's radius is larger than yours, you still use your radius when you stand in their zone.

Config

BepInEx/config/evan.muck.bustlingfungus.cfg, created on first launch.

Setting Default
HealPercent 2 Percent of max HP per second with 1 stack. Not the RoR2 4.5
HealPercentPerStack 1 Extra percent per stack after the first. Not the RoR2 2.25
BaseRadius 3.5 Meters with 1 stack. RoR2's code uses 3.5. The card says 3
RadiusPerStack 1.5 Extra meters per stack. RoR2
StillDelay 1 Seconds before healing starts. RoR2
StillSpeed 0.5 Horizontal meters per second that still count as standing still. Vertical velocity does not count
HealAllies true Send zones and accept other players' zones. When false, other players' zones are not recorded or drawn
ShowZone true Draw the green cylinder
ZoneColor 0.35, 1, 0.45, 0.25 Red, green, blue, alpha. Local only
GiveFungusKey (none) Debug key that gives you a stack. Try F8

Limits

  • No custom network message and no version check. Ally healing rides on the existing effect message.
  • Overlapping auras stack. Each source adds its own heal rate. A repeated beacon for the same player and source does not.
  • Config is per machine.
  • It does not heal shield, downed players, dead players, mobs, or tamed animals.
  • The zone is a static translucent cylinder. No sound, particles, or growing animation.
  • The pickup is an original mushroom cluster.
  • A remote zone disappears about a second after its beacons stop.
  • It has not been tested with MuckSaveGame. Powerup ids depend on which powerup mods are installed.

Credits

The Bustling Fungus idea is Hopoo Games' (Risk of Rain 2). Muck is Dani's. This mod contains no assets from either game. The icon is original.

Credits

Perk pickup (drop) model by Marshall.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

0.1.3

  • Every player in the lobby needs Bustling Fungus 0.1.3. A 0.1.1 peer does not understand the new beacons, which carry a player and a source, and can throw on them.
  • An Engineer's TR12 turret is a Bustling Fungus ward when that player has the powerup. The turret counts as standing still, so its aura is up at once, at the owner's current stack count, with the green cylinder. Survivors publishes the turret positions by reflection. Without Survivors, or without any turrets, nothing here changes.
  • Overlapping auras add. Each source heals at its own rate: two turrets covering you heal twice, and standing still inside your own turret heals twice. Two 1-stack auras are 4% per second, not the 3% of one 2-stack aura.
  • Other players hear each turret the way they hear a standing player: a SpawnEffect beacon every 0.25 s, relayed by the host. A beacon names the player and the source (the player, or one turret). A repeat of that pair replaces the zone, so the refresh and a duplicate relay do not heal again.
  • Each machine heals only itself. The host does not apply a second heal. The owner heals from their own turrets locally and ignores an echo of their own beacon.
  • A lost stack updates on the next beacon.
  • A dead Engineer's turrets keep healing allies while they stand, as in Risk of Rain 2.

0.1.2

  • Skipped. 0.1.2 only existed in closed PR #98 and was never released.

0.1.1

  • The drop is an original mushroom cluster instead of a borrowed White powerup.

0.1.0

  • First release. White powerup that heals you and nearby players after you stand still.
