README

UFO Abduction

"Three UFOs! Look up."

Adds a UFO outcome to Shrine of Chance. By default 10% of every paid roll lands on three UFOs. The shrine's other outcomes scale down proportionally to fill the remaining 90%: with Shrine of Chance's defaults the Nuke goes from 5% to 4.5%, and Nothing, White, Blue, Legendary and Boss share 85.5% instead of 95%. The odds panel shows the UFO as its own column.

When the reels stop on the UFO, a flying saucer comes down to about 15 m above the player who spun. It hums, its rim lights pulse, and a tractor beam reaches the ground. Over 3 seconds the beam lifts the player up under the saucer, with their controls locked. The saucer carries them across the island and lowers them onto dry ground 60 to 150 m away, then flies off. The player can't be hurt while they are held, or for 1.5 seconds after they land.

If the player is dead, is within 50 m of a boss, or there is no dry, walkable spot in range, the saucer flies over, looks them over, and leaves.

The saucer is deliberately realistic. It is a detailed model with brushed metal panels, rivets, a glass dome and glowing lights. It is meant to look out of place in Muck.

Requirements

  • Shrine of Chance 0.5.1 or newer. Thunderstore installs it with this mod.

Multiplayer

Every player needs this mod, with the same config. The host decides who is taken and where they land, and tells every modded player. Every peer then flies the same saucer along the same path. Only the abducted player's own game moves them, and Muck's normal position sync shows the lift to everyone else. With Shrine of Chance 0.5.1 or newer, every player's reels show the host's roll. Each player's odds still come from their own machine, so the UFO's share is part of the Shrine of Chance config code in BepInEx/LogOutput.log. If two players' codes differ, their odds will not agree. A player without this mod sees ? ? ? when the host rolls the UFO.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

0.1.1

No code changes.

  • Depends on Shrine of Chance 0.5.1, which fixes reels that showed a different result from the one the host paid out. A player with this mod rolls with a 10% UFO share, so a lobby where only some players had it saw that most often, for example three nukes on screen while the host spawned a boss.
  • The page states how the UFO's 10% changes the other odds: they scale down proportionally to fill the remaining 90%.

0.1.0

First release. It takes the UFO out of the unreleased Shrine of Chance 0.5.0 branch and makes it a separate mod, with a new, realistic saucer.

  • Shrine of Chance rolls the UFO through its outcome registry (Shrine of Chance 0.5.0), 10% of each paid roll by default.
  • The saucer is a textured model: about 18,500 triangles, brushed and anodized metal with baked normal maps, glowing rim lights, a glass dome, and a beam made of layered additive cones with a scrolling texture.
  • Sync lines start with ~ufo and never show in chat.
