Bank of Aurai
A banking service for Outward Definitive Edition. Deposit your silver at a bank spot in one city and withdraw it in another. Because silver has weight in Outward, the bank changes how you plan an expedition — not just where numbers sit.
Features
- Six branches out of the box — bank spots in Cierzo, Berg, Monsoon, Levant, Harmattan, and New Sirocco at sensible default locations, each staffed by a local banker: a priest in Monsoon, a noble in Levant, townsfolk in Berg and Cierzo, the alchemy trainer in New Sirocco, and in Harmattan, the Dean of the Military himself (he moonlights; don't ask).
- Real conversations — banking happens through the game's own dialogue UI: the banker greets you, reads your live balance and pouch, and offers deposit/withdraw options. Chain transactions in one conversation.
- Interest and fees — configurable interest per in-game day on your balance (default 0.5%), optional deposit fee (default 0). Interest accrues on the game clock, not real time.
- You are the branch architect — stand anywhere and press F6 to move that city's bank spot. Stand next to any NPC and press F8 to cast them as that city's banker (their appearance is cloned; they are not harmed, consulted, or paid).
- Per-character accounts — every character has their own balance, persisted across sessions.
Keys & Config
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| F6 | Save/move the bank spot for the current city (stand where it should be) |
| F8 | Cast the nearest NPC (within 6m) as this city's banker |
Config (BepInEx/config/com.spencer4792.bankofaurai.cfg, editable in-game with Configuration Manager / F5): interest rate, deposit fee, interaction radius, all keybinds.
Honest limitations
- The ledger lives outside the game save. Reloading an older save does not rewind your bank balance — save-scumming can duplicate or lose silver. You're on the honor system.
- The banker is currently mute. His voice line exists in the game's files as pure unsubtitled VO in an asset bundle the game doesn't expose cleanly; giving him his voice back is on the roadmap.
- Multiplayer: each player banks with their own account. Only lightly tested in co-op — reports welcome.
- The banker's body is a visual clone: he does not react, blink meaningfully, or pursue you. He judges silently.
Requirements
- Outward Definitive Edition on the Mono branch (Steam: Properties → Betas →
default-mono) - BepInEx pack for Outward
