Ping Items

PingItems

Ping items and luggage in PEAK! When you ping near items, colored indicators appear showing what's there. Perfect for pointing out loot to teammates or keeping track of items you spotted.

What it does

  • Pinging: Automatically detects items near your ping location and shows visual indicators
  • Ping Grouping: Groups nearby items of the same type together into single ping for cleaner display Ping Grouping
  • Off-Screen Tracking: Shows ping icons and distance at screen edges when pings are off-screen Edge Pings
  • Item Names: Shows the names of detected items
  • Player Names: Shows who pinged the item
  • Item Distance: Shows how far away items are from you
  • Customizable Icons: Change ping icon appearance through configuration
  • Font Control: Individual font sizes for distance, item names, and player names
  • Multiplayer Ready: Everyone sees the pings with proper colors

How to use

CHANGELOG

Changelog

[2.0.0]

Version bumped to 2.0 to match the PEAK 2.x update this release targets.

Compatibility

  • Updated for PEAK 2.0: The 2.0 update reworked the ping system and removed the item list the mod relied on. Pinging items works again.
  • Item detection restored: The game deleted Item.ALL_ITEMS. The mod now tracks items itself as they spawn. (The remaining ALL_ACTIVE_ITEMS list looks like a replacement but isn't - it drops items 30 seconds after they were last active, which is exactly the loot lying on the ground you want to ping.)
  • Ping raycast re-hooked: The raycast moved into a new method, so the patch that lets pings hit items was silently doing nothing. If it ever fails to apply again it now says so loudly in the log instead of failing quietly.

Optimization

  • Much cheaper pings: Item grouping used to scan the entire level on every ping. It now searches only the area a group can actually reach, which is provably the same result.
  • Cached world scans: Finding spore shrooms meant walking every mesh in the level, several times per ping. Those scans are now cached and refreshed with the spatial grid.
  • Removed a per-frame no-op: Every active ping ran an empty Update() each frame.

Cleanup

  • Removed some stupid code
