Custom Starter Kit 🎒 for PEAK
As host, build a starter kit for the whole lobby from an in-game menu. Pockets, backpack or fannypack, campfire/revive re-kit bags — clients do not need the mod.
Questions, bugs, or appreciation → Peak Modding Discord

How to open the menu
- Ctrl+K by default (change the modifier and key in the menu)
- Or pause and press Starter Kit
A Controls section at the top of the menu also lets you turn debug logs on, hide the pause-menu button, and rebind the delete-bag key. Debug logs stay off unless you turn them on.
Features
- In-game loadout menu — pick items in-game; remappable hotkey plus an optional pause-menu button
- Live item list — picks from PEAK’s current item database (vanilla + other mods). The list rescans when you open the menu so late-loading custom items are not missed
- 3 pocket slots — filled at run start
- Optional pack — backpack (4 slots), fannypack (2 slots), or random per player. Use Fannypack and Random pack cannot both be on
- Re-kit Only slot — not put in anyone’s hand at spawn (that stuck items on clients). It is included in campfire/revive re-kit bags
- Campfire / revive re-kit — optional. Spawns care-package backpacks beside you instead of stuffing pockets/hands. Only the pack-type slots in use (backpack or fannypack) are included — filling the other type’s menu slots does not spawn extra bags
- Host bag cleanup — empty re-kit bags despawn; host can look at a leftover bag and press Delete (configurable) to remove it
- Host-only — only the host needs this installed
How it works
PEAK inventory is host-authoritative. This mod grants on the master client, then uses vanilla inventory sync so unmodded clients still get the kit.
| When | What you get |
|---|---|
| Run start | Pack (if enabled), 3 pockets, pack slots filled. Leftovers spawn as ground backpacks. Re-kit Only is skipped. |
| Late join / reconnect | Waits until they are actually awake (shore wake) or revived and done warping. Does not grant during the brief DeathOnArrival flicker. |
| Campfire re-kit | If enabled, pockets + Re-kit Only + the pack slots for the pack in use spawn in ground backpacks. Does not refill pockets or hands. |
| Revive re-kit | Same bag spawn as campfire, if that toggle is on. |
| Quick Restart | A full island reload (including skip-airport) is treated as a new run, so the starter kit is granted again. |
Worn/held bags are never auto-deleted. Host Delete only works on tagged re-kit bags sitting on the ground.
Compatibility
Do not use this with Start With Backpacks if this mod is spawning backpacks or fannypacks. Both mods grant packs at run start and they will fight each other (double packs, missing packs, or leftover bags). Uninstall Start With Backpacks, or turn Give pack off here if you only want Custom Starter Kit for pockets / re-kit items.
Works with PEAKER (including PEAKERRpcInfo). Campfire and revive re-kit still apply when PEAKER adds extra RPC info arguments.
Configuration
Loadout is not in the BepInEx config list. Open the menu in-game (Ctrl+K or pause → Starter Kit). Picks are saved to:
BepInEx/config/tony4twentys.Custom_Starter_Kit.loadout.cfg
Hotkeys, debug logs, and the pause-menu button are changed from Controls in that same menu (or BepInEx / ModConfig). They save to:
BepInEx/config/tony4twentys.Custom_Starter_Kit.cfg
| Option | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
LoadoutMenuKey |
K |
Menu key (with modifier) |
LoadoutMenuModifier |
LeftControl |
Set to None to use the key alone |
DeleteRekitBagKey |
Delete |
Host: delete a hovered re-kit bag on the ground. None disables |
DebugLogs |
false (off) |
Extra grant / cleanup logging. Leave off unless you are diagnosing a problem |
ShowPauseMenuButton |
true |
Show the Starter Kit button on the pause menu. The hotkey still works if this is off |
If you hide the pause button and close the game, you can still open the menu with the hotkey and turn the button back on.
Works with ModConfig for those options if you use it.
Installation

.zipfrom Thunderstore. - Extract it into your

CHANGELOG
Changelog
[2.0.2] - 2026-08-15
- Rescans PEAK’s item database each time the Starter Kit menu opens, skipping items already cached
- Late-loading custom / modded items now show up in the picker
- Host grants also refresh once so a saved custom item still resolves if that mod loaded after the first scan
- Controls section at the top of the Starter Kit menu
- Remap the menu hotkey (modifier + key) and the delete-bag key in-game
- Toggle debug logs (off by default)
- Toggle Show Starter Kit on the pause menu — the hotkey still works either way
- Hiding the pause button and restarting the game no longer breaks turning it back on
[2.0.1] - 2026-08-14
Late join / reconnect
- Late joiners and reconnects no longer get a kit during the brief alive flicker (
RegisterPlayer/ DeathOnArrival) - That flicker was dumping a full kit on the ground, then wake/revive could spawn more bags (looked like ~4 starter kits in big lobbies)
- Same pattern as Start With Backpacks: skip the immediate grant, wait for shore wake (
UnPassOutDone) or revive + warp + landing
PEAKER
- Compatible with PEAKER / PEAKERRpcInfo
- Campfire and revive re-kit patches match RPC methods by name so the extra
PhotonMessageInfoargument does not break them
[2.0.0] - 2026-08-13
In-game loadout menu
- Build the kit in-game with
Ctrl+K(configurable) or the pause-menu Starter Kit button - Live item picker from PEAK’s item database (vanilla + modded items)
- Loadout saved in a sidecar config; BepInEx / ModConfig only show hotkeys
Run start
- Host-only grants: pack (backpack / fannypack / random), 3 pockets, pack slots
- Leftover items spawn as care-package backpacks on the ground instead of stacking and flinging
- Re-kit Only slot (was Hand) is not equipped at spawn — putting items in hands stuck them on clients
Campfire / revive re-kit
- Optional re-kit on campfire light and/or any revive
- Spawns filled backpacks beside the player; does not refill pockets or hands
- Re-kit Only item is included in those bags
- Pack-slot items match the pack in use (backpack vs fannypack). Filling the other pack type’s menu slots does not spawn extra bags
- Empty re-kit bags auto-despawn; host can Delete a leftover bag while looking at it (key configurable)
- Use Fannypack and Random pack cannot be on at the same time
- Quick Restart skip-airport / full Level reload grants the starter kit again (same as a new run)
PEAK 2.0
- Pack detection uses current backpack APIs (
IsEmpty/backpackType) - Revive hook is
RPCA_ReviveAtPosition
[1.1.2] - 2025-11-15
- Roots broke it, now its working again
- Items that are given after lighting the fire now drop around the playing in a circle instead of occupying the same space and being flung around. (When inventory is too full for all items)
[1.1.1] - 2025-10-14
- Config to give players all items from starter kit AGAIN after lighting each campfire
[1.0.0] - 2025-10-12
- Initial release.
