README

Witch

What's This Mod About?

Adds a Minecraft-style Witch to R.E.P.O.! She throws potions at players, can heal herself when hurt, and sometimes drops a healing potion when defeated.

Features

  • A new enemy that chases you and throws potions from a distance
  • Damage Potion — red, deals a burst of 50 instant damage right where it lands
  • Poison Potion — green, applies a poison debuff that deals 4 damage per second for 20 seconds (stops damaging you once your health drops to 4 or less!)
    • A colored circle marks where a potion is about to land — half a second to get out of the way
  • Potions damage other enemies too — a damage potion deals 25 to them (players still take 50), and poison potions affect them exactly as they do players
  • Poison screen effect — while poisoned, the edges of your screen glow green
  • Poison particles — green particles float around a poisoned player until the effect wears off
  • Self-heal — when her health is low, she drinks and restores 60 HP every 8 seconds (interrupted if she's stunned)
  • Heal Potion drop — on death there's a chance she drops a healing potion that restores 60 HP when used
  • Full set of custom sounds: notice, ambient, hurt, death, drink, and throw

Installation Requirements

Dependencies

  • Zehs-REPOLib (4.2.0)
  • BepInEx-BepInExPack (5.4.x)

Installing the Mod

  1. Ensure the above dependencies are installed in your game.
  2. Download the mod and place it in your BepInEx/plugins folder.
  3. Launch the game once to generate the config file (located at BepInEx/config/com.luca.witch.cfg).

Config Options

Option Default What it does
MaxHealth 250 Witch max health
AttackRange 8 Attack / sight range (meters)
AttackCooldown 4 Attack cooldown (seconds)
ThrowSpeed 8 Potion throw speed (m/s)
HealAmount 60 Self-heal amount per tick
HealCooldown 8 Self-heal interval (seconds)
HealthPackDropChance 0.3 Chance she drops a Heal Potion on death (0.3 = 30%, 1 = 100%)
PoisonChance 0.5 Chance she throws a poison potion (0.5 = 1:1, 0 = always damage, 1 = always poison)
ShowLandingCircle true Show or hide the landing indicator circle (visual only — doesn't change how she fights)

Playing Tips

  • Watch for the colored ring on the ground — that's where the potion will land. Don't stand on it!
  • Poison hurts over time but won't kill you outright. Still, get out of range before the next throw.
  • If she's low on health she'll stop to heal — a window to strike, but only if she's not busy throwing.
  • Her potions hurt other enemies too, so getting swarmed can work in your favour — let her splash her own neighbours.

Notes

  • Multiplayer Notice: For the mod to work properly in co-op, every player must have it installed. Otherwise, desyncs and unexpected issues may occur.
  • Multiplayer-friendly: potions, drops, sounds, and visual effects are synced in co-op.

Enjoy the blocky magic of the Minecraft Witch in R.E.P.O.!

CHANGELOG

Changelog

All notable changes to this project will be documented in this file.

The format is based on Keep a Changelog.

[1.2.1] - 2026-10-06

Fixed

  • Fixed a minor line-of-sight issue with the Witch.

Changed

  • Optimized the particle effects that play after the Witch dies.

[1.2.0] - 2026-09-27

Fixed

  • Fixed the Witch freezing in place whenever the game tried to despawn her. Instead of disappearing she would stand there stunned, unable to move or attack, still visible and killable — and because her despawn never completed, she could never respawn for the rest of the level.
  • Fixed her line of sight being checked from a point above her head instead of from her eyes.

Added

  • Bat swarm effect — when the Witch dies or despawns, she bursts into a flock of bats that scatter in all directions, flap away and fade out, with sound.

[1.1.0] - 2026-09-23

Fixed

  • Fixed potions desyncing from the Witch's body when she moved during a throw.
  • Fixed her potions being unable to pop Birthday Boy's balloons.
  • Fixed the Witch attempting to throw potions while facing away from the player — both while disengaging and before she has noticed them.
  • Fixed the potion still flying out when she was stunned right after the throw was triggered.
  • Fixed an abnormally wide vision cone.

Changed

  • The landing indicator now appears 0.5s before the throw instead of 1s. The Witch is briefly immobilized during that window.
  • Being hit by a poison potion while already poisoned now refreshes the poison duration instead of having no effect.

Added

  • Potions now also damage other enemies. Damage potions deal 25 to enemies (players still take 50); poison potions affect enemies exactly as they do players.
  • New config option: show or hide the landing indicator circle.

Notes

  • When reporting a bug, please include a precise description of what happened and your log file. A screen recording helps but is optional.

[1.0.2] - 2026-09-05

Fixed

  • Fixed a multiplayer warning caused by assigning velocity to a kinematic potion Rigidbody on remote clients.

Notes

  • This update keeps the same gameplay features and configuration defaults as version 1.0.0.

[1.0.1] - 2026-09-04

Fixed

  • Fixed repeated network prefab registration warnings when multiple Witches were spawned in the same session.
  • Network prefabs are now reused after their first registration instead of being registered again for every Witch.

[1.0.0] - 2026-09-03

Added

  • Minecraft Witch enemy (250 HP, built on the Bomb Thrower base)
  • Potion throwing — Damage Potion (50 damage) and Poison Potion (4 damage/sec for 20s, can't kill), 1:1 random
  • Parabolic potion trajectory with a landing indicator circle (red/green)
  • Self-heal (60 HP every 8s when below max HP, interrupted while stunned)
  • Heal Potion item drop on death (30% drop rate, heals 60 HP)
  • Custom sounds: notice, ambient, hurt, death, drink, throw
  • Glass-shatter sound on potion break
  • Hit flash (red) on taking damage
  • Potion coloring (damage rose #A9656A / poison green #87A363)
  • Potions block bullets
  • Poison screen vignette (green) and poison particles while debuffed
  • BepInEx config support (8 configurable options)
  • Multiplayer sync (potions, drops, sounds, and visual effects)

Notes

  • Initial release. If you encounter any issues or bugs, feel free to reach out. (Contact: [email protected])
