README

Enemy Drops

Make monsters drop items when they die — fully configurable and host-only.
Only Host, clients don't need it. Native BepInEx mod.

Inspired by the original REPO Enemy Drops mod by ImVertro.
This version is a fully native BepInEx implementation for users who prefer not to use MelonLoader, with additional usability improvements.

What's new in v2.0

  • Keep Enemy Drops Between Levels: You can now bring dropped items into the truck or keep them in your inventory to preserve them across levels and save them with your run!
  • Configurable Preservation Cap: New MaxPreservedItems setting (default: 10) to balance your run progression.
  • Dynamic Slot Recycling: Consuming or destroying a preserved item frees up space for new enemy drops.
  • Informative Telemetry: Clear console logs alert you when an item is secured or when the capacity limit is reached.
  • Engine Modernization: Complete rewrite powered by RepoAPI for flawless host-only replication and performance.

Features

  • Monsters drop items upon death based on their danger level.
  • Configure drop chances and weights for every item per monster difficulty tier.
  • Set a maximum limit on item drops per level.
  • Item Preservation: Option to keep items secured in the truck or inventory across subsequent levels.
  • Preservation Limit: Configurable cap on the maximum number of enemy-dropped items that can be preserved simultaneously (default: 10).
  • Only the host needs to have the mod installed — clients do not.
  • 100% native BepInEx implementation.

Requirements

Installation

  1. Install the latest BepInEx Pack.
  2. Place EnemyDrops.dll into your BepInEx/plugins folder.
  3. Launch the game once — the configuration file will be generated automatically inside BepInEx/config.

Configuration

All settings are controlled through the generated file: osmarbriones.EnemyDrops.cfg located in BepInEx/config.

General Settings

  • MaxDropsPerLevel (Default: 200): Maximum number of items that can drop in a single level.
  • PreserveItemsBetweenLevels (Default: false): When enabled (true), enemy-dropped items that players carry to safety inside the truck or keep in their inventory will persist into future levels and be saved with your run.
  • MaxPreservedItems (Default: 10): Maximum number of enemy-dropped items that can be preserved simultaneously. Standard shop-purchased items do not count toward this limit.

Difficulty-Based Drop Tables

The .cfg file includes three difficulty sections:

[Easy Monsters (Elsa for example)]
[Med. Monsters (Chef for example)]
[Hard Monsters (Robe for example)]

Each section contains entries like:

## Weight for "Item Gun Shotgun" on medium monsters. (range 0..12)
# Setting type: Int32
# Default value: 2
# Acceptable value range: From 0 to 12
Item Gun Shotgun = 2

How weights work

  • A value of 0 means the item will not drop for that monster difficulty.
  • Higher numbers increase the probability of the item being selected when a monster dies.
  • You have full control over which items appear for each difficulty tier.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

All notable changes to this project will be documented in this file.

The format is based on Keep a Changelog, and this project adheres to Semantic Versioning.

[2.1.1] - 2026-10-02

Changed

  • Item visual color modification (EnableColorModification) is now disabled by default, keeping original item textures and colors untouched while leaving the reddish light aura enabled.
  • Integrated cross-level item preservation and tracking with RepoAPI.Items.ItemPreservation for streamlined and reliable inventory persistence.

Documentation

  • Added detailed "How Item Preservation Works" guide in README.md explaining secured item conditions, capacity caps, dynamic slot recycling, and shop item exemption.

[2.1.0] - 2026-09-30

Added

  • Material color modification (EnemyDropVisuals) applied to all renderers of monster-dropped items, tinting and darkening colors via RGB multipliers and additive offset while preserving original textures, displays, and surface details.
  • Pulsating reddish light aura (EnableDropAura) dynamically centered directly inside dropped items via combined renderer bounds, with automatic dimming and deactivation when grabbed or equipped.
  • Dedicated [Visuals] configuration section in osmarbriones.EnemyDrops.cfg (EnableColorModification, ColorMultiplierR, ColorMultiplierG, ColorMultiplierB, ColorAdd, EnableDropAura, AuraIntensity, AuraRange).

Changed

  • Rebalanced default drop table distributions according to in-game shop item values: moved budget grenades (GrenadeHuman, GrenadeDuctTaped) to Easy monsters, high-value tech/weapons (OrbZeroGravity, DroneZeroGravity, BaseballBat) to Hard monsters, and repositioned Sword and UpgradePlayerEnergy to Medium monsters.

[2.0.3] - 2026-09-29

Changed

  • Enlarged announcement banner text on mod thumbnail ("NEW: NOW KEEP YOUR DROPS") for maximum legibility at small scale across Thunderstore and mod managers.

[2.0.2] - 2026-09-29

Changed

  • Updated mod thumbnail with a new announcement banner highlighting the item persistence feature ("New: Now keep your drops").
  • Added "What's new in v2.0" section to README.md detailing item preservation, configuration caps, and telemetry improvements.

[2.0.1] - 2026-09-29

Added

  • Informative log message when a secured dropped item cannot be preserved due to reaching the MaxPreservedItems capacity limit.

Fixed

  • Restored missing contributor credits in README.md (special thanks to Rucio for REPO 0.4.0+ weapon items).
  • Restored complete historical changelog entries (v1.0.0 through v1.2.0) in CHANGELOG.md.

[2.0.0] - 2026-09-29

Added

  • Configuration PreserveItemsBetweenLevels allowing players to keep enemy-dropped items across levels.
  • Configuration MaxPreservedItems (default: 10) limiting the maximum number of simultaneous enemy-dropped items preserved into the truck across levels.
  • Detection logic verifying that dropped items are secured (inside the truck, in player inventory, or held) before preservation.
  • Integration with StatsManager.itemsPurchased and dictionaryOfDictionaries for save game serialization of preserved items.
  • Dynamic count tracking via PreservedItemTracker that decrements when preserved items are consumed or destroyed.

Changed

  • Replaced custom roulette item selection and spawning logic with RepoAPI.Items (ItemProvider.TrySpawnWeightedItem).
  • Refactored entire codebase to comply with REPO_MODS_METHODOLOGY.md standards (standardized patch names, removed Hungarian notation prefixes, scoped mod internals).
  • Transitioned SemiFunc_OnSceneSwitch_Patch to run as a Prefix so saved game data accurately reflects preserved items and cleaned drop tables before SaveFileSave.

[1.2.0] - 2026-05-11

  • Fixed compatibility with REPO 0.4.0+.
  • Added new item drops: Leaf Blower, Semiscooter, Semiscooter Small, Staff Torque, Staff Void, Staff Zero Gravity, Walkie Talkie Box, and Revive Item.

[1.1.0] - 2026-03-01

  • Fixed bug causing items purchased from the store to have low battery.

[1.0.0] - 2025-11-18

  • Initial release. Monstes drop items upon death based on danger level.
