README

Admin Menu Button Position Fix

Fixes a visual bug in the pause menu: the Admin Menu button and REPOConfig's Mods button draw on top of each other, with their text overlapping and hard to read.

Requires RepoAdminMenu (the admin panel itself), AdminMenuButton (adds the pause menu button) and MenuLib. They install automatically as dependencies. On its own, without those, this mod does nothing.

In plain terms

Two different mods (REPOConfig and AdminMenuButton) each add their own button to the pause menu, and neither one knows the other exists, so they both ended up in almost the same spot. The result: "Mods" and "Admin Menu" overlapped, and neither was cleanly clickable.

This mod doesn't touch the admin menu itself - it doesn't open it for non-hosts, doesn't add features, doesn't change permissions or anything about how the admin panel works. All it does is nudge the "Admin Menu" button into the empty gap between "Main Menu" and "Mods" so both buttons stay fully visible and clickable, whether or not the vanilla "Active Moons" button is showing (that one appears partway through a run and shifts the whole menu down a row).

For the technically curious

The problem

MenuLib's CreateREPOButton has no automatic layout or collision handling. Every mod that adds a button to the pause menu hardcodes its own raw position, and nothing stops two mods from picking the same spot. AdminMenuButton's "Admin Menu" button uses (126, 62), which lands almost exactly on top of REPOConfig's "Mods" button at (126, 65), so the two render stacked on top of each other with overlapping text.

What this mod does

It finds the "Admin Menu" button by its label and moves it to sit between REPOConfig's "Mods" button and the vanilla "Main Menu" button.

The pause menu isn't at fixed coordinates: once a run has gone on long enough, a vanilla "Active Moons" button appears and pushes "Main Menu" (and everything below it) down a row. A fixed position only ever fit one of those two layouts. This mod now reads Main Menu's real position from the menu itself each time it builds and recomputes the midpoint against it, so it lands in the empty gap either way. Mods' own position doesn't move (REPOConfig hardcodes it), so that side of the midpoint stays fixed.

Good to know

  • This only changes where the button is drawn. It has no effect on whether the admin menu opens or what it can do. RepoAdminMenu only opens for the host (or in single player) by design, and that isn't changed here.
  • If another mod adds a pause menu button in that same gap, the two can still overlap.
  • Built and tested with RepoAdminMenu 1.0.16, AdminMenuButton 1.0.0 and MenuLib 2.5.4 on R.E.P.O v0.4.4.3.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.4.0

  • The midpoint approach from 1.3.x couldn't work once Active Moons was showing - there's no gap between Main Menu and Mods to place the button in, so Main Menu, Admin Menu and Mods overlapped.
  • Now re-lays out the whole pause-menu column every time it opens: every button between Continue and Quit Game is spaced evenly, keeping its order. Works with or without Active Moons and with any number of mod buttons.

1.3.1

  • No functional changes. Fixes the website link (was blank on 1.3.0 due to a CI publishing bug) to point to the Discord.

1.3.0

  • The fixed position from 1.2.0 only worked when the vanilla "Active Moons" button was hidden; once a run progresses far enough for it to show, it pushes Main Menu down a row and the fixed position landed on top of Main Menu instead of the gap.
  • Now reads Main Menu's actual position from the menu each time it builds and places the button at the midpoint between that and Mods (which never moves), so it holds in both layouts.

1.2.0

  • Moved the Admin Menu button to (126, 94), measured from the real pause menu layout: the free gap between Main Menu (123) and REPOConfig's Mods (65).
  • Now lists RepoAdminMenu and AdminMenuButton as dependencies, since it does nothing without them.

1.1.0

  • Second attempt; added temporary position logging used to get the exact numbers.

1.0.0

  • Initial release.
