README

Wink

A wink emote for R.E.P.O. One eye says plenty.

A note from Vippy

After way too long of a break, I'm finally back and working on these again :D Every one of my mods just got a full pass: bugs fixed, reports read, a few things I'd always meant to do. New builds and fixes land in Vippy's Discord before they hit Thunderstore, so come hang out. Thanks for sticking around.

Wink adds a seventh expression, a one-eyed wink, on its own key. It doesn't touch the six the game ships with: bind it and you've got a new facial expression to throw across the shop after a clean grab. Normal or seductive, your pick in settings.

It layers over whatever expression you're already making, and the preview Semibot at the bottom plays the wink along with you.

Client-side, no host requirement. Friends with the mod see the wink, everyone else sees a quick blink.

The two styles

  • Normal: a quick close-and-reopen. One eye, no frills. For "nice grab" and "we both saw that".

Normal wink

  • Seductive: slower and deliberate. The other eye goes half-lidded and the head tilts. For the shop, mostly.

Seductive wink

Both combine with your current expression. Wink mid-happy, mid-angry, mid-anything; the winking eye travels shut and back while the rest of the face stays yours.

What other players see

  • Friends with the mod see the real one-eyed wink, whichever flavor you threw.
  • Everyone else sees a quick blink. Their game has no one-eye face to render, so both eyes for a split second is the closest it can do, and a deliberate blink at someone reads pretty well anyway. Toggleable if you'd rather they see nothing.

Settings

All of it lives in the in-game mod menu (REPOConfig), so you can retune the wink between runs without restarting. The key is a rebindable dropdown and so is the style.

Setting Default Description
Wink key Alpha4 The key that plays the wink. That is the 4 on the number row, not the numpad
Wink style Normal Which of the two styles above the key plays
Blink for unmodded players true Flash the vanilla closed-eyes face so players without the mod see a blink instead of nothing
Wink the left eye false Close the left eye instead of the right
Normal wink duration 0.35 Seconds for the normal close-and-reopen
Seductive wink duration 0.7 Seconds for the seductive one. Higher is slower and more deliberate
Eyelid speed 18 Spring smoothing on the lids. Vanilla is 20, lower is softer
Sultry lid 0.4 Seductive only: how far the other eye half-closes. 0 is wide open
Head tilt 10 Seductive only: head tilt in degrees, sign flips the direction
Preview lead-in 0.5 Seconds the bottom preview holds your face open before it winks
Preview hold 0.9 Seconds the bottom preview lingers after the wink before it settles back

The last two are preview only. The wink other players see in-world stays instant either way.

Compatibility

  • R.E.P.O., client-side. No host requirement, nobody else has to install anything.
  • The closed-eye pose is learned from the game's own expressions at runtime, so eyelid angles survive game updates without hardcoded numbers.
  • Touches nothing but the expression blend. No items, no upgrades, no stats.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.0.2

  • The wink no longer ends on a stray blink. The blink sent to players without the mod was still fading out when the wink finished, so for a few frames everyone watching with the mod saw both eyes drop a third shut.
  • The wink key stays quiet while the chat box or the console is open, the same as the vanilla expression keys.
  • Winking while you hold the closed-eyes expression no longer wipes that face off everyone else's screen. The blink fallback sits out when you are already making the face it would have flashed.

1.0.1

  • Preview now settles all the way up before it winks and holds a beat after, both timings tunable. The wink others see in-world stays instant.
  • New icon, and a store description that leads with the terms people search.

1.0.0

First release.

  • One wink key (default 4), with a style dropdown: normal (quick) or seductive (slower; half-lidded other eye, head tilt).
  • Layers over your current expression; the six vanilla expression keys and the inventory keys stay untouched.
  • The bottom expression preview pops up and plays the wink like it does vanilla faces.
  • Friends with the mod see the real wink; everyone else gets a quick blink fallback (toggleable).
  • Closed pose learned from the game's own closed-eyes face at runtime, no hardcoded eyelid angles.
