README

⚡ SUMMON SNAPSHOT ⚡

YOUR BUILD. YOUR SUMMONS. YOUR ARMY.

Stop leaving your summons behind.

Turn your hard-earned build into an army worth fighting alongside. Give supported allies eligible items, let certain turrets use equipment, and see exactly what your summons are carrying.

More firepower · More control · Less guesswork

⚔️ Your build shouldn't stop at your character

You've stacked the items. You've perfected the loadout. You've become a walking disaster for anything with a health bar.

So why should your summoned allies show up empty-handed?

Summon Snapshot brings supported summons into the action by sharing eligible parts of your build with them. Whether you're planting REX Offshoots, deploying Engineer turrets, or assembling an Operator drone squad, your allies can contribute more than just another health bar.

Build yourself up. Bring your summons with you.

✨ Supported summons

Ally What it gains
🌱 REX Proliferation Offshoots Eligible permanent item stacks, selected equipment, and automatic equipment activation
🔧 Engineer turrets Selected equipment and automatic activation; item inheritance remains handled by the game or other mods
🦑 Squid Polyps Eligible permanent items when spawned
🤖 Operator skill drones Eligible items that update when the owner's inventory changes
🚁 Operator-purchased drones Eligible items, including refreshes after inventory changes and scrapping
🛠️ Operator-purchased turrets Eligible inherited items, without equipment copying
🎯 Purchased stationary Gunner Turrets Eligible items and an optional grounded repositioning tether

Item inheritance means eligible permanent items, not every item or temporary effect. Specific behavior can depend on the other mods in your run.

🔍 See the proof — press F8

Wondering whether your Offshoot actually got that item?

Open the Summon Inventory Inspector with F8 to see the items in your summons' actual replicated inventories—not a pretend preview of the player's build.

  • Inspect allied summons and their item stacks.
  • Check whether inheritance and inventory changes took effect.
  • Adjust the inspector's size in configuration.
  • Read-only: inspecting never modifies your run.

⚙️ Make it your own

Summon Snapshot is configurable, with BepInEx settings and optional in-game integration through Risk of Options.

Feature What you can configure
Summon support Enable or disable supported inheritance and equipment behaviors
Safety filters Default blacklist, custom item exclusions, and equipment safeguards
Inventory refresh How frequently supported Operator summons check for owner inventory changes
Gunner tether Reposition distance and check interval for eligible stationary turrets
Inspector F8 hotkey and UI scale
Equipment checks How frequently supported turrets check whether equipment is ready

🛡️ Designed with safety in mind

More summons and more items can mean more unexpected mod interactions. This mod includes safeguards to help keep runs playable:

  • A configurable default blacklist excludes summon-producing or recursion-prone item patterns.
  • Hidden items are excluded from inheritance.
  • Goobo Jr. clone recursion and Tricorn activation have dedicated protections.
  • Tracked inherited stacks help supported Operator summons remove inherited items after the owner scraps them.
  • Inventory checks avoid unnecessary item writes when nothing has changed.

🤝 A small Discord for people who want to build

100 spots. Serious contributors only.

I'm opening only 100 places in a Discord community for people who genuinely and actively want to help improve this mod or shape what comes next.

This is not a general fan server or a place to collect members. Please join only if you're excited to contribute by testing builds, reporting reproducible bugs, exploring mod compatibility, suggesting improvements to Summon Snapshot, requesting future mods, or bringing interesting new mod ideas to the table.

Discord invite: Coming soon — limited to 100 participants.

Once the invite is available, this line will be replaced with the link. Discord invite-use limits and actual server membership are not the same thing; the 100-person limit will be managed separately.

❤️ NO DONATIONS. NO TIPS. NO MONEY.

I do not want donations, tips, paid support, or financial contributions.

If you want to support my work, help make it better. Share an idea, find a bug, test a feature, or help someone else enjoy the mod. That's the support I'm looking for.

🚀 Installation

Recommended: Install Summon Snapshot with a Thunderstore-compatible mod manager and let it handle the required BepInEx dependency.

Manual: Install BepInEx, then place SummonSnapshotMod.dll inside BepInEx/plugins.

In game: Spawn a supported summon, then press F8 to inspect its inventory. Optional settings are available through Risk of Options if installed, or through the BepInEx configuration file.

⚠️ Compatibility & current limitations

This section is here because clear expectations matter.

  • Multiplayer: All players should use the same version of Summon Snapshot. Every possible multiplayer/mod combination has not been verified.
  • Summon limits: Experimental settings exist, but limits are not enforced in v0.3.5. The numeric cap controls have also had Risk of Options registration issues; in-game registration still needs confirmation.
  • Equipment Coupler: Extra equipment slots are not supported by this build. Supported summons receive only the selected equipment slot.
  • Safety filtering: Modded items with internal names matching default blacklist patterns may be excluded. Hidden items are always excluded.
  • Mod interactions: Mods that also change minion inventories, equipment, or summon behavior may produce different results.
  • Inventory updates: Live item-refresh behavior is implemented for supported Operator summons; other summons may use a spawn-time snapshot.

Found a conflict? That's exactly the kind of useful feedback that helps improve this project.

🐛 Bugs, feedback & ideas

A good report makes a fix much faster. Please include the summon type, what you expected, what happened instead, your relevant mod list, and your BepInEx LogOutput.log when possible.

Ideas for new features—and entirely new mods—are welcome from people who want to help turn those ideas into something worth playing.

CHANGELOG

Summon Snapshot — Changelog

A development history of the features, fixes, safeguards, and testing leading to v0.3.5. Earlier experimental builds were part of development; not every intermediate version was published on Thunderstore.

v0.3.5 — Transparency and Description Upgrade

Changed

  • Rewrote the Thunderstore README and mod description to explain supported summons, inheritance, automatic equipment use, and the F8 inspector in a more accessible, engaging way.
  • Expanded the changelog to document development milestones, tested fixes, safety protections, and known limitations from earlier builds.
  • Clarified that REX/Engineer summon limits are informational only and not enforced.
  • Clarified that Equipment Coupler extra equipment slots are not supported by the current implementation.
  • Kept gameplay behavior unchanged from v0.3.4; this is a documentation and transparency release.

v0.3.4 — Release packaging and settings diagnostics

Changed

  • Bumped plugin and Thunderstore package version to 0.3.4.
  • Improved built-in default blacklist descriptions, removing unnecessary callouts about allowed items.
  • Added more useful diagnostic warnings when Risk of Options cannot construct/register the integer summon-cap sliders.
  • Prepared the release package with root-level manifest.json, README.md, CHANGELOG.md, icon.png, and compiled DLL.

Still experimental / not implemented

  • REX and Engineer summon-cap settings do not enforce summon limits; no destructive removal is performed when a cap is exceeded.
  • Risk of Options registration for the two integer cap controls has not been confirmed fixed in-game.
  • Equipment Coupler's additional equipment slots are not copied; the current implementation copies only the selected equipment slot.

v0.3.3 — Inventory synchronization, Operator support, and usability

Summon inheritance

  • Added item inheritance for Operator skill drones.
  • Added eligible item inheritance for Operator-owned purchased drones and turrets, without equipment copying.
  • Added eligible item inheritance for purchased stationary Gunner Turrets for supported owners.
  • Added a configurable grounded Gunner Turret tether, with a default 100-meter distance and 10-second check interval. Teleporting requires a valid grounded destination.
  • Continued support for REX Offshoots, Engineer equipment activation, and Squid Polyp item inheritance.

Inventory correctness and performance

  • Added periodic Operator-owner inventory checks with fingerprints to avoid unnecessary writes.
  • Tracked granted inherited stacks so the mod can remove its own inherited items when the owner's eligible inventory changes.
  • Corrected inherited-item synchronization after scrapping; playtesting confirmed scrapped items were removed from supported Operator drones.
  • Added cleanup for destroyed summon references and tracked inventory state.
  • Added an option to avoid redundant inventory updates.

Settings and debugging

  • Added optional Risk of Options integration for supported settings.
  • Corrected formatting for numeric settings so time, distance, and inspector scale display meaningful units instead of misleading percentages.
  • Added an F8 read-only summon inventory inspector that reads actual minion inventories.
  • Enlarged the inspector and added configurable scale, with screen-fitting behavior.
  • Added extra logging to identify Operator summons, inventory changes, and prefab equipment-slot patches.
  • Added experimental REX Offshoot and Engineer turret cap settings, explicitly labeled as not enforced.

Safety and filtering

  • Added Warbanner to the default inherited-item blacklist.
  • Removed the special default blacklist exclusion of Happiest Mask while retaining the functional exception that allows it to be inherited.
  • Maintained default restrictions on summon-spawning/recursive items, hidden items, and selected unsafe equipment behavior.
  • Protected inherited Tricorn use pending safe owner-charge handling.

Testing notes

  • Confirmed Operator skill drones and purchased Operator-owned drones inherit items.
  • Confirmed purchased stationary Gunner Turrets inherit items.
  • Confirmed item removal after scrapping and improved settings display in user playtests.
  • Logs showed successful plugin loading and REX Offshoot inheritance/equipment activity.
  • Logs also showed two Risk of Options integer cap registration failures and unrelated-looking Unity pooling warnings; their causes were not conclusively established.

v0.2.0 — Initial public feature set

  • Added REX Proliferation Offshoot inheritance of eligible permanent item stacks and selected equipment.
  • Added automatic activation of inherited equipment for supported REX Offshoots and Engineer turrets.
  • Added Squid Polyp eligible item inheritance on spawn.
  • Patched supported summon body prefabs with equipment slots before network spawning, avoiding unsafe late network-component additions.
  • Added Goobo Jr. safeguards against recursive clone chains, including clone identification and nested-summon checks.
  • Added configurable equipment polling and safety settings.
  • Added inherited-item filtering for dangerous recursive-summon interactions.

Earlier development and testing (pre-v0.2.0)

  • Built the first BepInEx plugin and established the com.chronicrick.summonsnapshot plugin identity.
  • Iterated through early REX Offshoot item/equipment inheritance prototypes.
  • Investigated Goobo clone behavior and added guard logic for clones that share the original Offshoot prefab naming.
  • Refined equipment activation checks to avoid network issues and unwanted repeated activation.
  • Tested prefab equipment-slot initialization and tracked in-game results through BepInEx logs.

Known limitations in v0.3.5

  • Summon-cap configuration is informational only, not enforced.
  • Equipment Coupler additional slots are not inherited.
  • Integer cap slider registration in Risk of Options needs retesting.
  • Multiplayer and large modpack compatibility vary; use the same version across players and report reproducible conflicts with logs.
