Invoker
The Conjurer — a hovering summoner-sorcerer for Risk of Rain 2. Mark your prey, command a trio of Cinderlings, and call forth the towering Ossuary Regent. Unlock a second set of spells for a stronger spellcasting playstyle.
Public beta, package version 0.1.62. Includes custom models, portraits, skill icons, hover presentation, and three unlockable outfits with matching summons and spell colors.

Version 0.1.62 refines hovering, casting, jumping and landing, adds level-and-stage summon growth, and removes Cinderling item copying. It also includes the 38 item/equipment display refits and very quiet pulsing hover wind from the local testing pass. Set Audio > Hover sound volume to 0 in the Invoker config to mute it (default 0.06). The game 1.5 startup and visual repairs remain included. Offline animation, attachment, stat and audio-lifecycle checks passed; live feel, audio balance, later-stage summon balance and co-op still need playtesting. Please update the required dependencies too.
Abilities
| Slot | Starting ability | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Primary | Arcane Bolt | Fire a magical projectile. |
| Secondary | Eldritch Blast | Blast and mark an enemy. Your thralls prioritize marked targets. |
| Utility | Void Step | Blink a short distance. Hold a movement direction to step that way; works on the ground and in the air. |
| Special | Raise Thrall | Summon a Cinderling. Keep up to three; a new summon replaces the oldest at the limit. |
| Extra summon | Ossuary Regent | Call a single powerful companion, with its own 30-second cooldown. |
The Regent uses the extra mouse thumb button (Mouse4 in the configuration) by default. Its HUD label is M3; this is not the mouse wheel. It does not replace your equipment slot. To rebind it, launch once, close the game, and edit Ossuary Regent → Summon key in com.dillan.Invoker.cfg using your mod manager's config editor. A keyboard key such as V also works. Restart after changing it.
Primary, secondary, utility, special, and equipment follow your normal game bindings. Hovering is a visual style, not unrestricted flight.
Summon growth
Both Cinderlings and the Ossuary Regent scale with the run's ambient level. Each cleared stage adds +10% health and +5% damage, additively: after five cleared stages, the stage bonuses are +50% health and +25% damage. Existing summons update as the stage count advances; replacement summons receive the current bonus immediately. The bonus resets with a new run, and does not compound on every teleport.
Summons do not copy your items or equipment. Cinderling item copying was removed in 0.1.62. This changes how item-heavy builds perform; later-stage durability and damage are still being tuned from playtest feedback.
Unlocks
Complete these challenges as Invoker:
| Reward | Challenge |
|---|---|
| Nightfall — charcoal armor, silver detailing, blue jewels and effects | Silent Command: defeat a teleporter boss encounter without personally damaging any of its bosses. Your own Cinderling or Ossuary Regent must land a boss killing blow. |
| Soulbound — red and gold armor with green soul effects | Beat the game or obliterate on Monsoon or higher. |
| Soul Lance, Rift Detonation, and Soulstorm | The same Monsoon or higher mastery challenge. |
| Ashen Oracle — ivory armor, black accents, pink jewels and shadow effects | Beat the game or obliterate on Starstorm 2's Typhoon difficulty. |
Every outfit changes your Cinderlings and Regent to match. Classic and the original abilities are available immediately.
For Silent Command, you may fight ordinary enemies and teammates may help. Avoid personally damaging any boss in that teleporter encounter, including damage from your items, equipment, or damage-over-time effects. A teammate-only boss kill does not satisfy the summon killing-blow requirement.
Starstorm 2 is optional. You only need it to earn Ashen Oracle on Typhoon. Invoker works without Starstorm 2, and Oracle stays usable without it after you have earned the unlock.
Alternate spells
- Soul Lance: a precise piercing primary attack with a slower firing rate.
- Rift Detonation: a delayed area blast that marks enemies for your summons.
- Soulstorm: a pulsing ritual storm with an 11-metre radius, swirling mist, and a spectral sound sequence. Replaces Raise Thrall in the special slot; your separate Regent summon remains available.
Installation
Install Invoker through Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman and allow its required dependencies to install. Launch the game modded. Starstorm 2 is a separate optional download.
For a manual installation, install the listed dependencies first, then copy this archive's plugins/Invoker folder into BepInEx/plugins, keeping AssetBundles and Soundbanks beside HenryMod.dll. The DLL retains its original internal filename. Do not install a second copy of an older Invoker test build alongside it.
No saved progress or testing configuration is included. New installations use the normal unlock requirements. Existing configuration is preserved when updating; if you previously enabled testing access and want normal progression, set the four entries in the Testing section to false and restart.
Co-op and beta status
The host and every player need the same Invoker version. Use matching mod profiles, especially when playing on Typhoon. The mod enforces the same-version requirement.
This is an early public beta. Startup, survivor/skin registration, skill gates, and automated challenge logic have been checked. Full co-op sessions, live challenge awards through completed runs, and compatibility with large modpacks still need wider playtesting. Animation, effect and sound balance may receive further updates.
When reporting a problem, include the Invoker version, selected outfit and skills, whether you were host or client, your mod profile code, reproduction steps, and relevant error lines from BepInEx/LogOutput.log. Review logs for personal information before sharing.

CHANGELOG
Changelog
0.1.65 — Stronger casting motion
- Restore a full forward arm reach for Arcane Bolt, Soul Lance, and Eldritch Blast, with a soft elbow, recoil, and recovery.
- Give two-arm spell and summon casts a clearer gather, reach, and release.
- Preserve existing gameplay timing, damage, cooldowns, hover and leg poses, crystal fitting, outfit colors, summon scaling, attachments, and audio.
- Validation: the compiled animation matched the approved preview exactly across 4,320 offline frames on both body models at 1x, 2x, and 4x attack speed. Only two animation clips changed; all other bundled assets and embedded art were preserved. Game API checks passed. No game was launched; live playtesting remains welcome.
0.1.64 — Crystal fitting correction
- Remove the separate body jewel caps added in 0.1.63, which could reveal the old jewels underneath. Refinish the original fitted jewel surfaces instead.
- Widen the face crystal, remove the old painted slit from its texture, and prevent the mask surface from cutting through Oracle's crystal.
- Darken the face setting and remove its bright specular strip so it does not read as a second slit.
- Keep all four outfit colors and preserve the original body meshes, weights, animations, spells, summons, progression, attachments and audio.
- Validation: 810 offline animation poses, repeated outfit switches, clone/material registration and game API checks passed. Reviewed front and angled close-ups on every outfit. Native game lighting/bloom and camera visibility remain playtest checks. No game was launched.
0.1.63 — Faceted crystals
- Give the vertical face slit a tapered, modeled crystal shape with visible facets and a dark setting.
- Add matching faceted surfaces and slim borders to the armor jewels on all four Invoker outfits. Preserve each outfit's glow color.
- Match crystal weights to the existing armor so the inserts follow the shoulder, forearm, chest and Oracle belt jewel during animations.
- Preserve the original character meshes, rig, animations, spells, summon appearance and scaling, unlocks, item displays and audio.
- Validation: 810 offline animation poses, repeated outfit switches, cloning, material registration and game API checks passed. Native game lighting/bloom and camera visibility remain playtest checks; no game session was launched.
0.1.62 — Hover motion and summon growth
- Keep Invoker hovering while adding gentle body and limb motion, smoother movement blends, and smaller, smoother primary and summon gestures.
- Refine the rising/falling blend and replace the large landing arm flail with a small body compression. Movement physics and skill release timing are unchanged.
- Remove Cinderlings copying player items and equipment. Both summons use ambient-level growth plus +10% health and +5% damage per cleared stage, added linearly.
- Apply stage bonuses to existing and replacement summons, reset them each run, and explain the new behavior in character and skill descriptions.
- Include the previously unpublished 0.1.61 item-display fitting and subtle local hover wind improvements listed below.
- Preserve outfits, models, materials, effects, unlock requirements, and game 1.5 compatibility fixes.
- Validation: offline Animator, packaged-animation equivalence, geometry, summon-stat and API checks passed. Live feel, audio mix, later-stage balance and multiplayer remain playtest checks.
0.1.61 — Item attachments and subtle hover wind
- Refit 38 item/equipment displays against Invoker's body, with separate surface offsets where Ashen Oracle needs them.
- Move Stun Grenade from the calf attachment to the belt; hang Bolstering Lantern upright and bring Ghor's Tome closer to the back garment. Includes the previously unpublished Regenerating Scrap and other carried-item fitting pass.
- Keep paired shuriken displays on their separate arm attachments.
- Add one quiet pulsing wind loop for the local player, with configurable volume and cleanup on cloak, death, pause and body removal. Default volume is 0.06; set it to 0 to mute.
- Preserve models, animation, skill behavior, unlocks and all asset bundles. Retain the game 1.5 startup and rendering fixes.
- Validation: offline body/item geometry and captured audio-lifecycle checks passed. Live motion, audio mix and multiplayer remain manual playtest checks.
0.1.60 — Risk of Rain 2 1.5 visual repair
- Restore the selected face and jewel materials after the game refreshes character rendering. Preserve cloak, invisibility and native material overrides.
- Update the hover ring visibility check for the new game visibility states.
- Resolve the new projectile visual references before recoloring them, restoring pink Classic, blue Nightfall, green Soulbound and dark/pink Ashen Oracle projectile palettes.
- Preserve models, outfits, animation, audio, balance, unlocks and public item attachment settings. Includes the earlier 1.5 startup repair.
0.1.59 — Risk of Rain 2 1.5 startup fix
- Fix summon rig data failing to load when the shared Unity serialization patch cannot initialize, which prevented matching skins and Invoker from registering.
- Read Invoker, Cinderling and Ossuary Regent rig data through a managed JSON reader. Preserve the existing models, proportions and animations.
- Preserve foot-support data when Unity clones the player and summon models, including Ashen Oracle skin switching.
- Require RoR2BepInExPack 1.44.0 or newer.
- Preserve abilities, balance, unlock requirements, sounds and the existing public item attachment settings.
0.1.58 — Discord feedback link
- Add the Dozzy Productions Discord for comments, suggestions and bug reports.
- Documentation-only package update. Game files are byte-for-byte identical to 0.1.57; the in-game plugin version remains 0.1.57.
- No gameplay, attachment, unlock, animation, sound or configuration changes.
0.1.57 — Mocha attachment fit
- Tuck Mocha closer to the upper back and straighten the cup so it follows the clothing during hovering, jumping, and casting on all four outfits.
- Preserve the previous item attachment and face rendering fixes.
- No changes to gameplay, unlocks, movement, or configuration.
0.1.56 — Face rendering and attachment fixes
- Fix the face and jewel material slots being lost during camera refreshes, which could leave a hole in the mask when looking around.
- Refit Repulsion Armor Plate against the outer thigh instead of the gap between the legs.
- Raise and angle Lens-Maker's Glasses and Lost Seer's Lenses to fit the mask. Ashen Oracle has separate fitting offsets for its head and thigh shapes.
- Preserve cloaking and invisibility behavior while restoring the selected outfit's materials.
- No changes to abilities, balance, unlocks, movement, or configuration.
0.1.55 — Item display fitting
- Refit Paul's Goat Hoof around Invoker's boot and attach it to the ankle so it follows hovering and jumping. Ashen Oracle uses a separate adjustment for its boot shape.
- Move Armor-Piercing Rounds from the moving thigh to the belt.
- Reposition Razorwire and Focus Crystal; align Rose Buckler and Aegis along the forearm.
- Improve the fit of Lens-Maker's Glasses, Lost Seer's Lenses, Brittle Crown, Kjaro's Band, Runald's Band, and Singularity Band.
- Preserve existing gameplay, animation, appearance, unlocks, and configuration.
0.1.54 — First public beta package
- Includes Invoker, the Cinderling and Ossuary Regent summons, Classic, Nightfall, Soulbound, and Ashen Oracle.
- Includes Arcane Bolt, Eldritch Blast, Void Step, Raise Thrall, and the unlockable Soul Lance, Rift Detonation, and Soulstorm.
- Nightfall now rewards Silent Command: the summon-only teleporter boss challenge.
- Soulbound and all three alternate spells now share Monsoon-or-higher mastery.
- Ashen Oracle now rewards Starstorm 2 Typhoon mastery; Starstorm 2 remains optional.
- Retains hover and jump refinements, Oracle stance and spell improvements, matching summon appearances, the independent Regent input and cooldown display, and Soulstorm ritual effects/audio.
- Packages only the runtime files, required dependency metadata, portrait icon, and public documentation. Testing access defaults to off.
- Existing saved challenge identifiers and configuration are preserved.
