README

MiscNewtFixes

A few fixes for when Newt Altars spawn in places you can't get to. Pretty much makes Newt Alters consistent with how other interactables react to maps having varying geometry, doors/gates, bridges, etc. Everything is configurable because I hate myself!

Door fixes

Some stages have a door that's randomly open or closed, and a Newt Altar can spawn behind it. This is inconsistent with the behavior of other interactables, because those won't spawn behind a closed door. With these door fixes, if the altar spawned behind a closed door, it's moved to another of that stage's altar spots.

  • Distant Roost
  • Distant Roost (Variant 2)
  • Siphoned Forest (the collapsed gate)
  • Abyssal Depths

Bridge fixes

Some stages have a bridge that only sometimes spawns, leading to a spot that's hard or impossible to reach for some survivors without it. If the altar spawned across a bridge that didn't spawn, it's moved to another of that stage's altar spots.

  • Distant Roost
  • Scorched Acres

General fixes

Distant Roost's first variant is seemingly the only stage in vanilla that rolls 0-1 Newt Altars, meaning that its the only stage where you can truly get zero Newt Alters. MiscNewtFixes "fixes" that by raising the minimum to 1, so the game always picks one. This is a subjective change but such a weird little quirk I've decided to keep it on by default, you can turn it off if you'd like.

Scorched Acres can have 0-2 random Newt Altars on top of one that's always consistently there. MiscNewtFixes raises the minimum of the random ones to 2, so the bridge fix always has a reachable altar to fall back on.

Config

BepInEx/config/FluxSquido.MiscNewtFixes.cfg

All on by default:

  • 1. General Fixes - Fix Distant Roost Newt Spawn, Scorched Acres Minimum Newt Spawns
  • 2. Door Fixes - one per stage
  • 3. Bridge Fixes - one per stage

Multiplayer

Server-sided...... Clients without the mod see the moved altar too, because the game syncs which altar spots are on based on the host because the clients are stupid and know nothing but what the host tells them, they're being indoctrinated! Help the clients! Please!
