README

Risk of Dropping Everything

Risk of Dropping Everything is a lightweight Quality-of-Life mod for Risk of Rain 2 that gives you direct control over your inventory items during a run. (i made it for me and my Friends, because the other "Drop Items" mods ruined the fun and left me no choice)

The Mod was made with the help of ai, i have no experiences with mods whatsoever.

Features & Controls

  • Drop Items: Hover an item in your inventory (Tab menu) and press the Drop Button (default: right click) to drop it on the ground.
  • Convert to Scrap: Hold the Scrap Modifier Key (default: Ctrl) and press the Drop Button to drop the item as its corresponding tier of scrap.
  • Get the Item Back: Drop a scrap that you made yourself (without the Scrap Modifier Key) and you get the original item back. If you scrapped several items of the same color, they come back in reverse order.
  • Artifact of Command: With the Artifact of Command active, dropping a scrap (without the Scrap Modifier Key) gives you a Command cube where you can pick any item of that color instead.
  • Fully Configurable: The Drop Button and the Scrap Modifier Key can be set to any key or mouse button. Everything is adjustable in-game via Risk of Options.

Without the Artifact of Command, there is no choice cube. Scraps that were not made by the mod (for example ones picked up from the ground) are simply dropped as normal scrap.

Configuration Menu

You can change settings anytime through the Risk of Options menu:

  • Mod Enabled: Turn the mod on/off.
  • Drop Button: The key or mouse button that drops the item under your cursor. Default: Mouse1 (right click).
  • Scrap Modifier Key: The key you hold to turn an item into scrap. Default: Ctrl. Left and right Ctrl, Shift and Alt are both accepted.
  • Normal Drop: Enable/disable normal drops.
  • Scrap Drop (Modifier Key + Click): Enable/disable scrapping.
  • Scrap Drops Item Choice: Enable/disable the item choice cube for scraps (only works with the Artifact of Command).
  • Drop as Command Cube: Choose between direct ground drops or physics droplets (Artifact of Command friendly).

If the in-game key binder does not accept a mouse button, you can enter it by hand in the config file (BepInEx/config): Mouse0 = left click, Mouse1 = right click, Mouse2 = middle click.

Notes

  • Left click as the Drop Button can conflict with the game's normal click on items. Right click or middle click are safer.
  • The "get the item back" memory is stored on the host only and is cleared when a new run starts. In multiplayer, it only works correctly for the host's own actions if only the host has the mod installed.
  • If you use up a scrap in another way (for example in a 3D printer or Recycler) and later pick up a different scrap of the same color, dropping it can return the old remembered item.
  • Only permanent items can be dropped. Temporary items are ignored so that nothing gets duplicated.

Dependencies

Installation

  1. Install automatically via r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager.
  2. Or place the .dll file into your BepInEx/plugins/ folder manually.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

2.7.1

Fixed

  • Command cube only offered the scrap: With the Artifact of Command, dropping a scrap created a cube whose only choice was that scrap. The game ignores custom cube options when it turns a droplet into a Command cube, and a scrap has no item group of its own. Now an item of the same color is dropped as the droplet instead, so the game builds its regular Command cube with all items of that color, including the normal sound and glow.

Removed

  • The Command Cube prefab lookup is no longer needed and was removed.

2.7.0

Changed

  • Drop Mouse Button is now Drop Button and can be bound to any key or mouse button, not only mouse buttons. Default: Mouse1 (right click). If the in-game binder does not accept a mouse button, edit the entry in the .cfg file (Mouse0 = left, Mouse1 = right, Mouse2 = middle).
  • When a choice cube is dropped, the remembered original of that scrap is discarded, so the swap-back history does not go stale while the Artifact of Command is active.

Added

  • The drop log line now also shows whether the Artifact of Command was detected and whether Scrap Drops Item Choice is on. If the choice cube does not appear with the artifact, the log shows why (artifact not detected, or no cube prefab).

2.6.0

Added

  • The mouse button used to drop items is now configurable (right click, left click or middle click) via the new Drop Mouse Button option.
  • The key used for scrapping is now configurable via the new Scrap Modifier Key option (default: Ctrl). For Ctrl, Shift and Alt, both the left and right key are accepted.

Changed

  • The config entries are now named Normal Drop and Scrap Drop (Modifier Key + Click). Because of this, previously saved values for these two options are reset to their defaults.
  • Option and mod descriptions updated, since the button and key are no longer fixed.

2.5.0

Added

  • Scrap swap-back: If you turn an item into scrap with Ctrl and later drop that scrap without Ctrl, you get the original item back. With several scraps of the same color, they are swapped back in reverse order.
  • The history is stored per player and cleared when a new run starts.
  • Scraps without a remembered original (for example ones picked up from the ground) are dropped as normal scrap.

Changed

  • The item choice cube for scrap now only appears while the Artifact of Command is active. Without the artifact, the original item is returned.
  • The choice cube is dropped through the regular droplet path again, so it has the same sound and glow as normal drops. This is untested.
  • Scraps are now recognized by their item name (ScrapWhite, ScrapGreen, ScrapRed, ScrapYellow). The choice list is built from the ItemCatalog instead of the run's drop lists.
  • The catalog is iterated by index, so no extra reference to HGCSharpUtils is needed.
  • The Command Cube prefab is taken from the CommandArtifactManager, with a search through loaded objects as a fallback. The Addressables reflection approach was removed.

Fixed

  • Compiler error "pickupIndex is already defined". The drop block at the end of OnReceived() appeared twice, which would have removed and dropped every item twice.
  • Scraps were not recognized and always dropped as plain scrap.

2.4.0

Added

  • Right-clicking a scrap (without Ctrl) drops a Command cube where you can pick any item of that color.
  • New option Scrap Drops Item Choice in Risk of Options to turn this on or off.
  • Detailed logging in LogOutput.log (drop request, item name, size of the choice list, found prefab).

Fixed

  • Duplication bug: Only permanent items are dropped now (GetItemCountPermanent). Temporary items cannot be removed, but were still dropped before, which resulted in a duplicate.

2.3.0

Fixed

  • Clicking did nothing and the character just stopped moving in the Tab menu. The IPointerClickHandler on the ItemIcons never received the click in the game's input system. Detection now runs in Update(): on a mouse click, a UI raycast is made at the cursor position and the ItemIcon below it is looked up. The ItemIcon.Awake hook and the ItemIconInteractionHandler class were removed.
  • Item was lost if no character body existed (for example after death). The item is now only removed after checking that it can actually be dropped.
  • Added missing null checks (inventory, inputBank, eventSystem, master).
  • The ItemIndex field in ItemIcon is now found by type via reflection instead of a fixed name. It is called _itemIndex in the current game version. If it is not found, an error is written to the log.

2.2.0

  • Initial version: right click drops an item, Ctrl + right click turns it into scrap. Settings via Risk of Options.

Known limitations

  • The swap-back history is stored on the host only. If only the host has the mod installed in multiplayer, swap-back works correctly only for the host's own actions.
  • If a scrap created by the mod is used up in another way (for example in a 3D printer or Recycler) and you later pick up a different scrap of the same color, right-clicking it can return the old remembered item. The history is only cleared at the start of the next run.
  • Left click (Mouse0) as the drop button can conflict with the game's normal click on items.
  • Versions 2.6.0 and 2.7.0 and the droplet path for the choice cube have not been tested in-game yet.
