Ethranet Explorer
An independent retro desktop and in-game browser for every survivor. MICRO is not required.
Use a free Shrine of the Desktop near each combat stage's starting area or in the Bazaar. Portable Computer equipment opens the same desktop anywhere (10-second base cooldown). X or Escape closes it and restores normal controls. While browsing, enemies cannot target you, damage and healing are blocked, shields/barrier cannot replenish, and item effects are disabled until you leave. Your items remain in your inventory. Existing barrier can expire. Other players keep playing.
Websites
- ebayzaar: Buy and sell ordinary items. Portable Computer is always listed first for 1x normal chest cost in DEBIT, separate from the 1–5 random item offers. Equipment purchases use native swapping.
- Ukeletsy: Six unique pink listings per stage. Each slot independently rolls 5CSV (50%), 10CSV (one third), or 20CSV (one sixth), with no fixed mix. CSV means the normal chest cost on the current stage. Each item combines two or three budgeted effects, with effect-based names and independently chosen baked pink icons. Listings hint at each item’s character and quality; inventory tooltips summarize its mechanics. Pink items work for all survivors. Includes the complete 31-trigger / 35-effect library, plus critical chance, high-health damage and revival. See PINK_ITEMS.md for details.
- Bank of Aurelionite: DEBIT carries money between stages in a run. OFF-SHORE persists between runs for the player's local RoR2 profile. Deposits use the existing compounded, rounded-up exchange rate; withdrawals go to DEBIT.
- DRONES-R-US: Gunner Drone and three random drones, paid through DEBIT.
- Desktop Depot: Coming soon.
- Bonzi Online, Corrupted BonziBUDDY, and Clippy's Shop: Independent shop pages retained for their rework. All models, sprites and audio remain bundled. Transactions are not available yet. Paper Clips remain registered; their new use and purchase terms are pending. There is no Integrity system.
- Survivor's Field Guide, Microgame Library, and ETHRANET: Information and navigation.
World purchases use wallet gold. Website purchases and earnings use DEBIT. Use the GOLD > DEBIT arrow or the bank to transfer money.
Existing OFF-SHORE files remain in the game's persistent save directory under MicroGamer/Bank. The legacy folder is intentionally retained so updates and this split preserve existing accounts. Saves follow the local RoR2 profile rather than the lobby host. No external banking service or internet connection is used.
Compatibility and credits
All multiplayer participants need the same version. Remove MICRO-GAMER when installing the split mods. This package has no dependency on MICRO. See THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md for gettgott's Retro-computer model and FONT_LICENSE.txt for MS Sans Serif 1. Original supplied Bonzi and Clippy assets and dialogue are retained. Pink icon artwork is pre-baked from native item icons.
CHANGELOG
0.4.1
- Disable item effects while using the Desktop Shrine, Portable Computer or MICRO's protected stage browser. Preserve owned items and restore effects on close, cancellation or body cleanup.
- Share one inventory-disabler lease across overlapping menus, preserve pre-menu health/shield when item stats return, and suppress Pink/offensive item dispatch while browsing.
0.4.0
- Ukeletsy listings use icon/effect-themed flavor descriptions and amateur-made, carefully crafted or high-quality wording for 5/10/20CSV stock.
- Pink inventory tooltips use sentence case, rounded values and shorter effect summaries; gameplay rolls are unchanged.
- Expose the Portable Computer equipment index and optional cursor contact-effect callback for MICRO's built-in equipment and SCROLL.
0.3.1
- Expose shared server-side utility protection for MICRO. Browser and utility protection have independent ownership so opening or closing one cannot cancel the other's protection.
- Portable Computer and Desktop Shrine users retain the same damage, targeting and healing protection.
0.3.0
- Implemented the complete 31-trigger / 35-effect Pink library, plus retained critical chance, high-health damage and one-use revival.
- Added projectiles, status effects, control, healing/barrier/shield support, skill and equipment recharge, temporary allies, zones, gold and hit blocking. Rules have randomized parameters and CSV valuation.
- Added host-owned counters, health/shield transitions, assists, world purchases, item pickups, shrine successes and stage/teleporter events. Full skill recharge and skill refills support remote owners.
- Extended bounded inventory and stat snapshots for the full library, including teammates who own no Pink items. Generated effects have recursion and population limits.
- Kept the existing baked artwork, independent six-slot 5/10/20CSV rolls, unique inventory entries and effect-derived names. Requires matching versions in multiplayer.
0.2.0
- Ukeletsy stocks six independently rolled 5/10/20CSV listings per stage, with 3/6, 2/6 and 1/6 odds respectively.
- Replaced source-family restrictions with two/three-effect recipes, fitted to the listing's CSV budget. Baked icons remain unchanged and no longer determine mechanics.
- Added effect-aware names, budget filters and full recipe descriptions in the shop and inventory.
- Initial recipe effects: attack speed, movement speed, critical chance, high-health damage, bleed, lightning, explosions, healing and one-use revival. Revival can appear in 20CSV recipes; spent revival remains spent after transfers and stage changes.
- Extended bounded host-owned inventory snapshots for recipes and spent revival. Requires matching versions in multiplayer.
0.1.0
Initial independent browser and desktop release split from MICRO-GAMER.
