RandomStages
Every stage is a random map from vanilla and every DLC you own. Stage 5 always has a way to the final boss, and the boss you get is random too.

RandomStages
Normally the game sends you through stages in order, and once you go through a DLC portal you're stuck in that DLC's maps. This mod throws all of that out. Every stage from 1 to 5 is a random map pulled from vanilla and every DLC you own, and the final boss you face is random too.
What it does
- Stages 1 to 5 are fully random. Stage 1 could be Sky Meadow, stage 4 could be Titanic Plains. It tries not to repeat a map you've already played that run
- Stage 5 always has a way to the boss. Whatever map you land on for stage 5, its teleporter gets swapped for the Primordial Teleporter, so you can head to the final boss or keep looping. If a map has an unusual teleporter, a Final Boss Portal opens next to it once it's charged
- No early boss skip. If Sky Meadow shows up before stage 5 it gets a normal teleporter
- Random final boss. Heading to the final boss sends you to a random one: Commencement (Mithrix), Prime Meridian (False Son) or the Planetarium (Voidling)
- Early maps hit harder later. A stage 1 map that shows up on stage 4 gets a bigger enemy budget so it plays like a real stage 4. Enemy level already scales with time and stage count in vanilla, this just makes sure there are enough of them
- Special places like the Bazaar, Gilded Coast, Void Fields and the DLC portals still work like normal
Who needs it
Only the host. The host's game picks the stages, so your friends don't need it.
Config
After launching the game once you'll find these in the r2modman config editor under com.randomstages:
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Enabled | true | Turns stage randomizing on or off |
| RandomizeFinalBoss | true | Sends you to a random final boss map |
| AvoidRepeats | true | Tries not to repeat maps in the same run |
| ExtraFinalBossScenes | (empty) | Extra scene names to add to the final boss pool, comma separated |
| BossTeleporterOnStage5 | true | Gives every stage 5 the Primordial Teleporter |
| PrimordialOnlyOnStage5 | true | Gives Sky Meadow a normal teleporter before stage 5 |
| ScaleSpawnsToStage | true | Bigger enemy budget for early maps that show up late |
| ExtraSpawnsPerStage | 0.25 | How much bigger per stage behind. A stage 1 map on stage 4 gets 1.75x |
Good to know
- Every stage pick gets written to
LogOutput.login your BepInEx folder, which helps a lot if something looks off - The Alloyed Collective and Hallowed Concepts finales aren't in the boss pool yet since they run through a chain of special areas. If you know the scene name of one you want, add it to ExtraFinalBossScenes
