Kizuna (KizunaMod)

The bonds (kizuna) between the Naruto survivors. Two players picking two different characters of the series get their pair's passive while both are alive, and can perform their pair's combined technique: a short cinematic finisher they trigger together.

This is the shared core: on its own it adds no survivor. Install it with the characters (they already depend on it). Want every character at once? Get the Naruto Collection.

How it works

• Passive: active while both of you are alive.
• Combined technique: both players press C (configurable; gamepad: D-pad down) within 1 second of each other, within 30 m, untransformed. Once per stage for each pair of players. If your partner doesn't answer, you wait 15 s to try again.
• In the character select, the KIZUNA button next to Ready (gamepad: Y) shows the chosen character's bonds: each partner, both halves of the passive and the combined technique.
• Counts per person: with two partners you combine once with each.
• Title screen: the Valley of the End, with the statues of Hashirama and Madara and the installed pairs clashing Rasengan and Chidori. Two switches on the title screen turn the valley and the clash on or off.
• Tutorial scroll: the first time you play each character, a scroll shows a few tips that are easy to miss (running up walls, what the X does...). F1 (gamepad: D-pad up) hides it and brings it back; the KIZUNA panel's Show tutorial button (gamepad: X while it is open) makes it appear again at the next start.
• Voices: a switch on the title screen picks English or Japanese (Storm 4) voice lines for every character.
• Character families (with Survariants, installed automatically): Naruto holds Sage Naruto and Naruto (Six Paths), Sasuke holds Taka Sasuke and Sasuke (Rinnegan). Pick the base character, then the Variants tab.

Bonds

Each bond has a passive for each of the two characters (while both of you are alive) and a combined technique. What every half does, and the technique, is in the KIZUNA panel of the character select.

Exact numbers are in the game, in the KIZUNA panel. More characters, and their bonds, are coming.

• Multiplayer: every player needs the mod, same version.
• Texts in English and Spanish (by the game's language); voices in English or Japanese.

• Tutorial scroll: the first time you play each character, a ninja scroll unrolls at the right of the screen with a few tips that are easy to miss (running up walls, what the X does, how his kit really works). F1 (gamepad: D-pad up) hides it and brings it back. The Show tutorial button of the KIZUNA panel (gamepad: X while the panel is open) makes it appear again when the next run starts. Everybody sees it once after this update.
• Bonds rework: every passive half now shows when it works, with a thread of chakra flying from the partner who gives to the one who receives, and a flare the first time in each stage two bonded partners come within 30 m. 13 passive halves were redone so they are visible and no longer repeat each other; the KIZUNA panel is up to date.
• Haku and Zabuza (coming soon) now have bonds with the seven other characters: 14 more bonds with their passives and combined techniques, already shown in the panel.
• Fixed two combined techniques starting at the same time with three players.

• Character families (with Survariants, now installed automatically): in the character select, Naruto holds Sage Naruto and Naruto (Six Paths), and Sasuke holds Taka Sasuke and Sasuke (Rinnegan). Pick the base character and choose in the Variants tab. Each family has its own icon on the bar.
• Japanese voices: a Voices switch on the title screen picks English or Japanese (Storm 4) voice lines for every character.
• Redesigned KIZUNA panel: a list of partners (it scrolls as more characters arrive) and a page for the bond you pick, with both portraits, each half of the passive and the combined technique. On a gamepad the D-pad moves through the list.
• Joint entrance of Naruto (Six Paths) and Sasuke (Rinnegan): with more players, extra copies of either watch the whole scene beside them instead of playing their own; it can no longer be skipped.
• Haku and Zabuza (coming soon) already show in the KIZUNA panel, with their pair bond «The Demon and His Tool» and its combined technique, the Hidden Mist Ice Dragon.
• Smaller Valley switches on the title screen.
