README

Josh MassScan

Safe, explicit mass scanning for Techtonica. Version 0.1.6 queues up to 100 eligible objects and scans them one at a time through the game's normal scan completion path.

Requirements

  • Techtonica 1.0.1c (Mono build)
  • BepInExPack 5.4.2100 or a compatible BepInEx 5 installation
  • Launch the game through the mod manager

Thunderstore installation

  1. Install and enable BepInExPack for Techtonica.
  2. In Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman, choose Settings, then Import local mod, and select the Josh MassScan zip.
  3. Enable Josh MassScan and launch the modded game through the manager.

Required BepInEx setting

In the active profile's BepInEx/config/BepInEx.cfg, confirm:

[Chainloader]
HideManagerGameObject = true

If the mod appears in the startup console but does nothing after loading a save, check this setting first. Close the game before editing it.

Controls

  1. Equip the scanner.
  2. Press F to enter the normal dismantle selection mode.
  3. Drag the selection box across the objects to scan.
  4. Confirm the selection as you normally would for mass dismantling.
  5. The selected objects scan sequentially using their normal scan duration.

Player-built machine dismantling is blocked while scanner mode owns the selection. Objects are removed only when their native scan behavior removes or collects them.

Configuration

Settings are stored in BepInEx/config/Josh.Techtonica.MassScan.cfg after the first launch. The default MaximumSelection is 100. BepInEx preserves existing settings during upgrades, so an installation upgraded from version 0.1.5 may still say MaximumSelection = 25. Close the game before changing it.

ScanSpeedMultiplier defaults to 1, preserving normal scan timing.

Save safety

Back up important saves before using any gameplay mod. Josh MassScan sends each selected object through Techtonica's native completion path so research, databank, rewards, quests, and object-specific removal behavior remain under the game's control. Start with modest selections when testing a new version.

Source inspection

SOURCE.txt contains the readable C# source used to build the packaged plugin DLL. It is included for anyone who wants to inspect exactly what the mod patches and how selected objects are processed.

Troubleshooting

  • Works at the menu but not in a loaded map: verify HideManagerGameObject = true.
  • Stops at 25 after upgrading: change MaximumSelection in the mod config.
  • Nothing loads: confirm both mods are enabled and launch through the mod manager.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

0.1.6

  • Raised the default maximum mass-scan selection from 25 objects to 100.

0.1.5

  • Added a runtime tick on FactorySimManager.SimUpdateAll, the game-loop hook proven to run in Techtonica 1.0.1c.
  • Retained builder patches for box preview, release capture, and erase suppression.

0.1.4

  • Added startup patch-count, direct builder-postfix, and runtime-readiness diagnostics.
  • This version intentionally makes no scan-state changes beyond version 0.1.3.

0.1.3

  • Moved the runtime tick onto PlayerBuilder.Update so scanner ownership and queued scans run on this BepInEx configuration.
  • Added a one-time runtime-tick confirmation log.

0.1.2

  • Detect scanner-mode ownership from construction-mode transitions instead of relying on the consumed erase-toggle frame.
  • Added transition diagnostics showing whether scanner ownership was acquired.

0.1.1

  • Fixed scanner-mode ownership being lost when Techtonica changes toolbar state in deconstruction mode.
  • Added preview target-count diagnostics for initial interaction testing.

0.1.0

  • Added scanner-owned mass-selection box using Techtonica's deconstruction controls.
  • Blocked machine erase actions while scanner mode owns the selection.
  • Added current-strata and native scannable-state filtering.
  • Added a configurable 25-object safety cap.
  • Added sequential scanning through native progress and completion methods.
  • Added selection highlighting, cancellation, and diagnostic logging.
