BayTurtle's More FPS
This mod attempts to increase the overall FPS and performance in large battles.
How much of an improvement
For the FPS improvement to be noticable, you likely need very big battles (150+ units). However, when you have a large battle in action, the FPS improvement is definitely noticable. In some cases, I got 23+ FPS with every optimization on (which is the default setting) compared to the same exact battle with the mod disabled, which makes the game a lot smoother. However, everything obviously depends on your computer and other mods installed.
The config automatically has all 8 optimizations enabled, but you can disable any in the config file.
Sacrifices to be made
When using this mod with all optimizations enabled, the unit AI may perform worse, as that's the least optimized part of the game and what the mod mostly focuses on optimizing. I, however, did not notice much of a difference myself, but, once again, it all depends on your setup and how much you pay attention to the AI.
I tried to make it as unnoticable as possible, but there will obviously always be tradeoffs, even if small.
CHANGELOG
Changelog
1.3.0 Update
Adds many projectile and gun related optimizations. who even reads these
1.2.0 Update
Adds two new optimizations: "Skip dead muscle force" and "Skip dead muscle torques". Basically, these are mostly for long battles and essentially just disable stuff that isn't needed anymore for performance. As always, can be disabled in config. Support for Quick Boost (which has More FPS as a soft dependency) also added.
1.1.0 Update
Adds two new optimizations: "Corpses Collision Stuff" and "Dynamic Optimize". The corpses collision one disables collision between corpses. Dynamic Optimize throttles certain optimizations harder depending on how big the battle is. Dynamic Optimize seems to have improved my FPS a decent amount for me, so try it for yourself! As always, these optimizations are togglable; you don't need to have them on, but they are on by default. To disable any, just go to the config.
1.0.2 Update
Adds two new optimizations, further increasing the performance when everything is enabled. These two optimizations are also togglable in config, but are both on by default.
