BeastheimDvergrCompat

Registers 'dvergr_fermenter_tq' as a legacy prefab alias for Tequila-Dvergr_Pieces' current 'teq_dv_ferm_fermenter', so recovered NewBeginings blueprints referencing the old name still resolve.

README

BeastheimDvergrCompat

A one-trick prefab-name adapter. Registers dvergr_fermenter_tq as an alias for Tequila-Dvergr_Pieces' current teq_dv_ferm_fermenter, so recovered NewBeginings PlanBuild blueprints that still reference the old name resolve correctly. Nothing else.

Why this exists

The NewBeginings archaeological recovery extracted 11 historical player-built structures. Three of them (Grok, Sven, Vlad) place a piece originally registered by Tequila-Dvergr_Pieces 2.3.0 (the 2023-era version that built the historical world) under the name dvergr_fermenter_tq.

The current, 1.0.16-compatible release of that mod is 2.9.0. Decompiling both versions side by side showed every other piece kept its exact registered name across that gap — only the fermenter changed: the author moved it into its own dedicated asset bundle and renamed it to teq_dv_ferm_fermenter, sometime around the Bog Witch update. This is a mod-author content rename between versions, not a Valheim engine API break, so it's out of scope for this project's compatibility/LegacyCompat engine (which only migrates breaks against the game assembly, not one mod's own internal renames). Full investigation trail: docs/compatibility/DVERGR_FERMENTER_AND_UNKNOWN_PREFAB_INVESTIGATION.md in the main repo.

What it does (exactly, and only, this)

Legacy prefab ID (historical 2.3.0) Current prefab ID (2.9.0, what it's aliased to)
dvergr_fermenter_tq teq_dv_ferm_fermenter

On startup (once vanilla prefabs are available), it calls Jötunn's PrefabManager.CreateClonedPrefab("dvergr_fermenter_tq", "teq_dv_ferm_fermenter"). That clone is a fully real, hash-registered ZNetScene prefab (mesh, collider, ZNetView, inventory/fermenting logic — everything, inherited unmodified from the current piece) — but it is never added to any PieceTable, so it never appears in the Hammer build menu and is not player-craftable under the old name. The only thing it's for is letting PrefabManager.GetPrefab("dvergr_fermenter_tq") — the exact lookup PlanBuild's own blueprint-placement code performs — succeed instead of logging "No prefab found."

Explicitly out of scope

This mod does not, and should not, grow beyond the one mapping above. If another Dvergr_Pieces legacy-name mismatch ever surfaces, add one line to the Aliases array in Plugin.cs — same mechanism, same dependency already declared — rather than expanding this package's purpose. It is not a general prefab-aliasing framework, not a Dvergr_Pieces patch, and not a replacement for anything in compatibility/LegacyCompat.

Dependencies

  • BepInExPack for Valheim
  • Jötunn, the Valheim Library
  • Tequila-Dvergr_Pieces 2.9.0 (hard dependency — this mod does nothing without it, and BepInEx will correctly refuse to load if it's missing)
