Sailing Progression
Level up Sailing while travelling by boat. The helmsman and passengers earn the same XP. You must actually be aboard: players on land or docks receive none. Stationary boats give no XP. Passengers still earn XP when nobody holds the helm, provided the boat continues travelling with propulsion engaged.
- Sailing and rowing speed: by default, approximately +30% at level 50 and +40% at level 100. Applies to forward and reverse rowing too.
- Hull endurance: by default, +0.3% per level, allowing the boat to withstand 30% more damage at level 100.
- The helmsman's skill determines the boat's bonuses while controlling the helm. Bonuses do not stack between players or repair the boat.
- Sailing XP Multiplier: server-controlled, adjustable from 1 to 10. Default: 1. Changes XP only.
- Maximum Speed Bonus: server-controlled, 0–100%. Default: 40%. Sets the level-100 bonus; level 50 receives 75% of this bonus, with gradual increases between levels.
- Maximum Endurance Bonus: server-controlled, 0–100%. Default: 30%. Sets the level-100 bonus and increases evenly with skill level. Set either bonus to 0 to disable it.
- Your Sailing level saves with your character. Maximum level: 100.
Wind and waves still affect speed. Bonuses increase propulsion, so actual speed gains vary with conditions.
Installation
Requires BepInExPack Valheim and Jotunn. Install the same mod version on the server and all players. No Smoothbrain mod is required.
Import the ZIP as a local mod in Thunderstore Mod Manager, or copy plugins/SailingProgression/SailingProgression.dll into BepInEx/plugins/SailingProgression/.
Change the three settings through a compatible configuration manager or in BepInEx/config/branchofyore.sailingprogression.cfg on the server before startup. The server's values apply to everyone.
Early test release for Valheim 1.0.16. Separate-client multiplayer testing is still pending. See TESTING.md for details.
