ModdedWithAchievements
Stops cheated items from spreading their "cheated" mark to everything they touch, and re-enables Steam achievements while the game is modded.
The problem
Valheim tracks a cheated flag on every item. Anything spawned from the console gets it, and the game then spreads that flag outward: a marked weapon marks whatever you destroy with it, loot from creatures you kill with it, ore you mine with it, stacks you merge it into, chests it sits in, and anything a smelter, cooking station or fermenter produces from it.
Once the flag is set it is saved into the world and your character file, and it shows up as a grey italic line on the item tooltip. In a shared world, that spread reaches your friends' items too.
Separately, Valheim disables Steam achievements as soon as it detects the game is modded, whether or not you ever used a cheat.
What this mod does
Stops the spread. Items spawned from the console are no longer marked at all, so there is nothing left to propagate. Use them, stack them, smelt them, and kill things with them freely.
Re-enables achievements. Valheim gates both behaviours behind the same internal switch, so turning off the cheat contamination turns achievements back on. They are one setting in the game's code, not two.
Hides leftover tooltips. Items that were already marked before you installed this keep the flag stored in your save. The mod hides that line from their tooltip so old items look clean too.
Multiplayer
This is client-side. Every player who wants the effect needs the mod installed. The server does not need it, and the mod is not loaded on dedicated servers.
Two things worth knowing for shared worlds. Players without the mod still see the tooltip on items that were marked before, because the flag lives in the save data. They also still spread the flag themselves, since some of these checks run on whoever owns the object.
Configuration
Settings live in BepInEx/config/moddedwithachievements.cfg, created on first launch.
| Setting | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Tooltip / HideCheatTag |
true |
Hides the cheated marking on item tooltips |
CheatChecks / DisableCheatContamination |
true |
Stops the spread and re-enables achievements |
Turn either off independently without removing the mod.
Manual installation
Drop ModdedWithAchievements.dll into Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/. Requires BepInEx.
Notes
The mod never edits the achievement data itself and never grants an achievement you did not earn. It only stops Valheim from refusing to count your progress, and stops one item from marking another.
