README

BetrSigns

Twelve signs in wood and stone to write on, each with twelve colours for its text — built, written and protected exactly like the game's own sign.

Made by DezzyCode.

At a glance

Twelve signs Five woods and seven stones, each its own piece in the build menu
Write on them E, just like the game's own sign — everybody sees the text
Text colour Shift + E opens a palette of twelve colours
Saved on the sign Text and colour stay with the world, for every player
The game's rules Same cost, same build menu spot, word filter, 50 characters, ward protection
English and German Every name and hint follows the game's language

Twelve signs

Every sign is 1 × 0.5 m, a little slimmer than the game's, and comes in its own material:

Wood Stone
Meadows wood Mountain stone
Black Forest wood Frost stone
Swamp wood Mistlands stone
Fine wood Ashlands stone
Darkwood Sandstone
Mossy stone
Marble

They are the game's own sign with a new look, so nothing about building them is new: they cost what the game's sign costs and sit next to it in the build menu.

Write on them, in colour

Input Effect
Use Write on the sign, as on the game's sign
Shift + use Choose the colour of the text

The palette has twelve colours, from the game's own dark ink to pure white, red, gold, frost blue and eitr purple. The colour you pick is saved on the sign, so it looks the same for everybody and is still there when you come back.

The text is lit by the world like the sign itself: bright in daylight, dark at night, never glowing.

Worth knowing

Everyone needs it — the server and every player, in a matching version.

A ward protects them the way it protects the game's sign: inside somebody else's ward you can neither write on a sign nor change its colour.

Removing the mod removes the signs from the world with it, like any building piece a mod adds.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.0.5

  • The writing sits a centimetre off the face, so it no longer almost clips into the sign.

1.0.4

  • The writing now actually sits on the face of the sign. The earlier fixes never ran: the text was looked for in a way that skips the inactive template the sign is built from, so it stayed where the game's much thicker sign puts it, several centimetres in front of the model.

1.0.3

  • The writing really sits on the face now. 1.0.2 moved the text's frame, but the text keeps its own depth inside it and still floated; now the text itself is placed.

1.0.2

Text on the sign, not in front of it.

  • The writing now sits right on the face of the sign instead of floating visibly in front of it.

1.0.1

Colours as you pick them.

  • Text colours now show at their real brightness. The game's sign text material darkens every colour to half, which turned white into grey; BetrSigns signs use a copy that does not. Untouched signs still look exactly like the game's sign.
  • White is pure white now.
  • The hover hint names the shift key in the game's language (Shift / Umschalt) instead of the keyboard layout's.

1.0.0

First release.

  • Twelve signs to build with the hammer, in wood and stone: Meadows, Black Forest, swamp, fine wood and darkwood; mountain, frost, Mistlands, Ashlands, sand, mossy and marble stone.
  • Write on them with E, exactly like the game's own sign: the text is saved on the sign and seen by everybody, and wards protect it the same way.
  • Shift + E opens a palette of twelve text colours. The colour is saved on the sign too.
  • They cost and sit in the build menu where the game's sign does.
