At a glance

Item drawers 10000 of one kind each (5000 to 100000, as the server sets), in twelve looks, with the count on the front
Filling stations by hand Press E on a station with nothing fitting on you and it takes one item from storage nearby; on by default
Auto equip armour Armour you pick up goes straight onto an empty slot, nothing you wear is swapped; off by default
Craft from storage Chests, drawers and standing carts in reach count as if they were in your backpack
Fetch materials One key while building puts the materials of the chosen piece from nearby storage into your inventory
Multi craft Craft a recipe as often as you like in one go, or press Max
Crafting search A search field over the recipe list of every station

Salvage A tab at every crafting station takes apart what was made there and gives back half the materials, or as much as the server sets
Feeding trough Textured wooden trough with visible food when filled; three slots feed hungry tames and tame wild animals
Bee boxes Build them empty, put queens in, stack four into a hive that makes five times the honey
Stations feed themselves Smelters, kilns, fires and more get fuel and material; cooking stations and ovens only if the server switches them on
Choose station materials Shift + E on a smelter or blast furnace: tick which materials it is refilled with

Any language English and German built in, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese included, more by adding a file
Epic Loot support Its enchanting table takes materials from nearby storage and finds the gear on your equipment page; its materials show their colour on drawers; salvaging an enchanted item warns that the enchantment is lost
Armory support The storage of the Armory forge from Armory by Therzie counts as a chest
CaptainSkillTree support Gear on the equipment page counts for its skills, and gets its crafting bonus when upgraded
Creature Level & Loot Control support While it shows a creature's stars itself, "All stars" steps back, so no star is drawn twice

Drawers

A wall of item drawers, each showing what it holds and how much

A drawer holds one kind of item, ten thousand of them (5000 to 100000, as the server sets it), and says so on its front: the icon and the count, readable from across the room. A wall of them is a warehouse you can search with your eyes instead of opening thirty chests.

Use an item from your hotbar on an empty drawer and that is what it holds from then on. After that you never open it:

Input Effect
Use Take a stack
Ctrl + use Take one
Shift + use Store everything of that kind you carry
Ctrl + use on an empty drawer Release it for another kind

Ctrl and Shift are only where they start: under Keys in F11 either can be Ctrl, Shift or Alt, left or right hand.

A drawer keeps its kind even when it runs empty, so your coal drawer stays the coal drawer while you are out of coal. What you take out goes onto your extra inventory pages first - or into your inventory first, if you switched on Inventory before extra pages. Drawers snap to each other corner to corner; hold the game's alternative placement key to set one freely. Tear one down and everything in it lands at your feet.

There are twelve looks, one for every land you pass through:

Drawer Built from
Meadows Wood 10 wood, at a workbench
Black Forest Wood 10 fine wood, at a workbench
Swamp Wood 10 elder bark, at a workbench
Darkwood 10 fine wood and 2 coal, at a workbench
Mossy Stone 10 stone and 4 wood, at a stonecutter
Mountain Stone 10 stone and 2 obsidian, at a stonecutter
Plains Stone 10 stone and 2 tar, at a stonecutter
Mistlands Stone 10 black marble, at a stonecutter
Deep North Stone 10 stone and 2 crystal, at a stonecutter
Ashlands Stone 10 grausten, at a stonecutter
Black Marble 10 black marble, at a stonecutter
Iron 10 stone and 4 iron, at a stonecutter

The look is a choice, not a reward — every drawer holds the same, whatever it is made of. And a drawer counts as storage everywhere else in this mod: you craft out of it, your stations feed from it, and loose items can be collected into it.

Crafting out of what is around you

Building, crafting and upgrading reach into the chests and drawers near you as if their contents were in your backpack. Material counts show what you have / what you need — 2000/10 — and the game takes the cost from wherever it actually lies: your inventory first, then your extra pages, then the storage around you. Loose items on the ground count too, once you allow it.

Instead of clicking the same recipe twenty times, say how many you want, or press Max. The window tells you how many you can make with what is in reach.

Late in the game the recipe lists grow long. A search field sits over the list of every workbench and station: type a few letters and only the items whose name contains them stay. Close the inventory and the list is whole again.

And a crafting station repairs everything you carry, in one click, without picking each piece. In the game a piece is only repaired at the station it is made at, and from the level its recipe needs; with Repair anything at any station - off until the server switches it on - every station repairs every piece.

Filling stations by hand

Press E on a smelter, kiln, furnace, windmill, spinning wheel, refinery, cooking station, oven, fermenter or fire as usual. If you carry what it needs, that's used, as in the game. If you don't, E takes one fitting item from a chest or drawer nearby instead. Nothing is filled unless you press E.

It's on by default (F11 → Stations → Manual refilling from containers, set by the server) and works even with automatic refilling off. It uses the same rules as the stations that feed themselves: how far they reach, chests you may open, blocked items and Keep per source (F11 → Sources), which leaves that many of every item in each chest for you.

Stations that feed themselves

Smelters, charcoal kilns, blast furnaces, eitr refineries, windmills, spinning wheels, cooking stations, ovens, frost foundries, fermenters, campfires, hearths, torches, braziers and bonfires take fuel and raw material out of the storage around them while you are nearby. Every type can be switched on or off on its own, so the smelters can run themselves while the campfires stay yours. Cooking stations and ovens are off by default, so your meat stays in the chest until you cook it yourself (F11 → Stations → Cooking station and oven, set by the server). A station is only fed when the game would let you fill it by hand: a fermenter needs its roof and cover, a cooking rack its fire.

Look at a smelter, fermenter, cooking station, oven, beehive or bee box and the time it still needs stands in the hover text.

With Lazy cooking, off until the server switches it on, food that is done drops out of cooking stations and ovens by itself, the way it does when you take it with E - so nothing burns while you are away. Stations that cannot burn food stay as they are.

There is also a collector, off until you want it: loose items near a chest go into that chest — but only of a kind it already holds. A chest with wood in it collects wood, an empty chest collects nothing, and your ore chest never fills up with berries. You sorted it once; it stays sorted.

More inventory, and a place for your gear

The extra pages, the equipment page and multi craft, all open at once

Up to three pages of 8×5 open under your inventory whenever it does. They are part of your inventory, not a chest you have to fetch, and they behave exactly like it: what you pick up lands there first, and in your backpack only once they are full - or the other way round, if you switch on Inventory before extra pages. Nothing on them weighs anything - unless the server sets how much, from 0 to 100 % of the game's own weight. The mouse wheel or the numbers beside them switch pages; open a chest and it takes the same place with its own tab, so the window never runs off the screen. Switch on the Fold button under Inventory in F11, and a − at the top of the rail folds the pages away when you want the room, + or any page button brings them back - what lies on them still counts all the same.

What lies on those pages is yours in every way. It counts when you craft, it holds ore back at a portal, and it goes into your grave when you die. Items from a mod you switched off are kept safe and come back with it.

Pack and A-Z, on the rail below the page buttons, tidy the pages in one click: Pack pours part stacks together and pushes everything forward from the first slot, A-Z does the same in order of name.

The server sets how many pages there are, one to three, and switches the pages and the equipment page on and off each on its own. Whatever lies on a part that is switched off, or on a page taken away, moves into your inventory - onto the remaining pages first - as far as there is room; the rest is kept, counts for nothing, and is back once the part returns.

The equipment page is a tab with a helmet on it: named slots for helmet, cape, chest, legs and trinket, four utilities that all work at the same time, three food, three ammunition, two keys and six quick slots for whatever you like. Each slot takes only its own kind, and a cell turns red while you hold something that may not go there.

Put a piece on and it finds its slot by itself, wherever it was lying — whatever sat there before takes the place the new piece came from. Shift-click sends a piece to its slot without wearing it, and again to bring it back.

Keys Effect
Alt + 1 to 6 Use a quick slot
Shift + 1 to 3 Eat from a food slot
Alt + R, T, Z Pick one of the three ammunition slots

Every slot's key can be changed under Keys in F11 - any key, alone or with Ctrl, Shift or Alt, so frost and fire arrows can sit on Z and X, or F1 and F2. Beside your health bar sits a small grid with your quick slots, your food and — while a bow or crossbow is in your hands — your ammunition, in the same style as the game's own food squares. Rather have it somewhere else? HUD in F11 moves it to the exact pixel, counted from the lower left corner of the screen. Or switch on the BetrValheim HUD there: health, eitr and stamina, the forsaken power, your food and these slots together in the lower left corner, in place of the game's health panel. Die, take your grave back, and everything returns to the slot it came from.

The BetrValheim HUD: health, eitr and stamina, the forsaken power, food and the BetrValheim Slots

And between the armour and weight numbers there is a trash bin: drop a stack on it and it is gone, right away, no dialogue. Switch it off if you would rather not have it.

Quick stack and restock are both off until the server switches them on. Quick stack puts whatever you carry into the chests and drawers nearby that already hold that kind; restock tops up the ammunition, food and potions you carry to full stacks from them. The hotbar, the equipment page, worn items, tools, weapons and your favourites stay with you. Neither touches a chest someone has open, one behind a ward or lock you could not open yourself, a ship's or cart's storage or a grave. And the game's own place stacks button on an open chest now stores from the extra pages too. A favourite is marked with a golden slot.

Chest categories, once the server switches them on, open with Shift + E on the chest: tick what the chest is for - weapons, ammunition, armour, tools, food, meads, materials and more, most split further - add or leave out single items, give it a priority and a name. Quick stack, tidying up and place stacks then fill the chests made for each item, even empty ones, and quick stack also puts away spare weapons, tools and armour there. Chests without categories keep working as before.

Keys Effect
K, or Quick stack right of the page title Quick stack into the chests and drawers nearby
L, or Restock left of the page title Restock ammunition, food and potions
Alt + click Make this one stack a favourite, or not any more

Both keys rest while you type into a text field, the game's or another mod's. Either can be changed in F11: click the key, then press the new one, alone or with Ctrl, Shift or Alt.

A trough for your animals

Boars in their pen around a filled feeding trough

A feeding trough is built at a workbench from 5 fine wood and 10 bronze nails. It has three slots and takes anything an animal eats, nothing else. Animals nearby eat from it exactly as they eat food off the ground: the same range, the same timing, and food on the ground still comes first. Tame ones eat when they are hungry; wild ones that can be tamed eat from it as from the ground, so it tames them too. Creatures never pick it as something to attack. Filled, it shows the food lying in it. It is not a source for crafting or stations.

Bee boxes

A bee box is built empty - 10 wood and 2 iron at a workbench, no queen needed. Look inside with Shift + E and put a queen bee in: now it is a hive. E harvests the honey, which falls out of the box just like from the game's beehive, and once in a hundred harvests a new queen comes out with it.

Boxes that touch - side by side or stacked - join into one hive of up to four. It has one slot per box, whichever box you open, and each queen in it is a colony:

Colonies Honey
1 as much as the game's beehive
2 twice as much
3 three times
4, as a wall of two side by side and two on top five times

The bees do not mind where the box stands - on the ground, indoors, any land. They only stop when they are cold, the way you are cold: in cold weather or a cold night, unless a fire nearby warms them. The world's resource setting applies to the honey as it does to the game's beehive. The slots take queens only, one to a slot. And mind your weapon: hit a box with bees in it and they swarm out and sting, like at a wild beehive.

Every portal reaches every other one

Walk into a portal and the map opens, with every other portal in a list beside it and marked on the map. Click a name or a marker and you are there. The list shows how far each one is, and it has one order for everybody: admins get an Edit button to move portals up and down, and the server keeps that order for the world.

The game's own rules still apply — no ore through a portal, no portals while a boss fight forbids them, E still names a portal. The server can allow ore, metal and everything else through portals under Portals, just like the world modifier does. Switch the picker off and portals link by name again, exactly as in the normal game.

Your animals come along. Tamed animals you told to follow go through the portal with you and keep following on the other side - wolves, boars, lox, whatever follows you within 50 m.

If you want, every portal can also stay marked on the large map and the minimap for everyone. Both are off by default, because showing every portal also shows where everybody lives; while they are off, the server does not share the portal list at all.

Markers on the map

Press B and a marker goes on the map where you stand. Looking at something - a copper deposit, a plant, an item on the ground - the marker takes its name at once, the name the crosshair shows. Looking at nothing, a small window asks for one, with the last name already filled in, so B and Enter mark the next spot of the same kind; the groups you already have are listed below it, one click takes one.

Markers with the same name are a group. Beside the large map a list shows them all:

In the list Effect
The box before a group Show or hide that group on the map
A group's name Open it: every marker in it, nearest first
A marker Move the map there
Search field Only groups whose name has the text in it
Sort By name, by the nearest marker, or by how many there are
Show all / Hide all, top right Every group at once; the button says which it will do
Only this, Rename, Delete all For an opened group; deleting asks a second time
Rename, X For a single marker

The minus at the top folds the list away. Markers are yours alone: kept with your character, for each world on its own, and the game's own pins stay as they are. A right click on the map does not remove them - the list does. The key is set under Keys in F11.

See where you are going

Two sliders under Display, each from 100 % — the game as it is — down to 0 %: ship sails, so the sail in front of you no longer hides the coast, and the Mistlands mist, for when the fog is too much. Every ship; set by the server, the same for every player.

And under Display, Show helmet takes your helmet out of sight - for you and everyone else - so your hair and beard show again. Only the look: worn, the helmet still protects as before.

Back to your server in one click

Join a server once, with its password, and BetrValheim remembers both. The main menu then has a Quick Connect button that takes you straight back to it, with the password filled in. A remembered password only ever goes to the server it belongs to, is never written into the settings or the log, and on Windows is protected with your Windows account. A password the server turns down is forgotten, so the next attempt simply asks again.

All adjustable

The settings window with its categories

Press F11. Categories on the left, settings on the right, every one of them explained in a line, and changes saved the moment you make them. Escape closes it again. Each feature is one block: its switch on top, its settings indented below and grey while it is off, each saying why. What the server sets is marked Server. Looking for one setting? Type into the search field over the list and every category shows the blocks that match, by name or description.

Category What lives there
General The master switch, scan interval, BetrValheim skills, armour set bonus; your language, messages, log and the More from DezzyCode link
Inventory The extra pages, how many and how heavy, the equipment page; inventory first, the fold button, the trash bin, the place of the pages, the comparison in the tooltip, auto equip armour
Backpack Whether the backpack can be made, the size and cost of each level, how heavy its contents are, whether pickups go in first, whether it counts for crafting, backpacks shown on backs
Crafting Crafting and building from storage, its range, auto repair, repair at any station; multi craft and the crafting search
Sources Chests, drawers, the ground, how much to leave in each and of which items
Storage & pieces Storage collecting loose items, drawers or chests first, quick stack and restock, chest categories, the chest A-Z button, and whether drawers, the feeding trough and bee boxes can be built
Stations Fuel and material for stations, filling by hand, their range, blocked items, lazy cooking, every station type on its own; the production timers
Portals The portal picker, portals on the map and minimap, their names, ore through portals, animals coming along, protected portals
World Items floating, loot at once, chests refilling and camps repopulating
Map & compass Markers, the logo under the minimap, the minimap clock, the compass, its markers, your grave on it, size and place
HUD The BetrValheim HUD for the lower left corner, its size and place; where the BetrValheim Slots stand, to the exact pixel; the status effects as a list, its size and bar; skill progress; the enemy health bar, its size and distance
Display Your helmet, how solid ship sails and the Mistlands mist are drawn
Keys Every key of the mod: F11, markers, quick stack, restock, drawers and each slot of the equipment page

Within a tab, the settings for everyone come first and yours alone below them, each under its own heading.

The server decides for everyone. Anything that changes how the game plays is set by the server admin and handed to every player; without admin rights those settings are greyed out and the window says why. Your language, your keys, your markers, your timers, your trash bin, multi craft, inventory first, the crafting search and your helmet stay your own.

The mod speaks English, German, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese, or follows the game - and any other language somebody writes a file for.

Want it in your language? Copy en_EN.json in the mod's locales folder, name it after your language (say fr_FR.json), translate the texts and share it on the forum (forum.dezzycode.de). It then shows up under General → Language; anything not translated yet stays English.

Worth knowing

Everyone needs it — the server and every player, in a matching version.

Drawers or chests first. Use first under Storage & pieces decides it for everything: where loose items are stored first, and where crafting, building and stations take from first. Your own inventory always pays first.

Two ranges, two meanings. Range under Crafting is measured from you and only matters while you craft or build. Material range around stations is measured around each station: a chest next to your smelter feeds that smelter whether you are standing there or not.

Stations need you within 64 m. Valheim keeps the world loaded around players only, and 64 m is loaded on every machine at every setting. A smelter across the map is not in memory, and nothing can fill what is not there.

Fine wood and core wood are never burned by default. Stations would happily take them, and they are worth more than the charcoal they would make. Edit Blocked items if you disagree.

A reserve the stations leave alone. Keep per source leaves that many of an item in every chest, drawer and stack on the ground, so stations never burn the last of it. Crafting, building and restocking still use everything. List items under Keep only of to keep the reserve of those alone; left empty, it applies to every item.

Other players' private chests are used by default. Switch Include foreign private chests off on a public server; drawers behind somebody else's ward then stay out as well. A chest somebody has open is never touched, and a ship's chest only while nobody else is aboard - so nobody's ship is taken over from the shore. Graves are never used: what lies in one is taken back by hand. And by hand, a drawer behind a ward you have no access to stays shut, as a chest does; quick stack and restock reach only drawers and chests you could open yourself.

Run it on its own. Other mods that craft from chests, refuel stations, add inventory slots, add drawers, quick stack, change how portals connect or make sails and mist see-through would do the same work a second time. Switch those off. With a mod installed that remembers server passwords, BetrValheim leaves remembering passwords to it.

World Control 2.7 to 2.9 had this portal network too. With one of those installed, BetrValheim leaves portals alone and says so in the log; update World Control to 3.0.0.

Something is not being filled?

Open the console with F5 and type betrvalheim. For every station nearby you see whether it is switched on, how full it is, what it needs and where the nearest of it lies. Post that list on the forum if you're stuck.

Requirements

  • BepInExPack Valheim
  • Jötunn 2.30 or newer

Works with:

Everything below is only active while that mod is installed.

Epic Loot

With Epic Loot by RandyKnapp and the Epic Loot Team installed, its enchanting table takes materials from the chests and drawers around you, just as crafting does, with Craft and upgrade in F11. Only materials come from storage; the items you enchant stay the ones you carry, including the gear you wear on the equipment page and what lies on your extra pages, so nothing has to be taken off first. Its enchanting materials show their own rarity colour on a drawer. An enchanted item can be taken apart in the salvage tab too; the panel warns in red that the enchantment is lost. Without Epic Loot nothing of this is active.

Armory

With Armory by Therzie installed, the storage of its forge counts as a chest, for crafting, quick stack and restock like any other.

CaptainSkillTree

With CaptainSkillTree by korCaptain installed, gear you upgrade while it sits on the equipment page or an extra page gets its crafting bonus, just like gear in your inventory, and its skills that ask for a piece of gear to be worn see the gear on your equipment page. Without CaptainSkillTree nothing of this is active.

Creature Level & Loot Control

With Creature Level & Loot Control by Smoothbrain showing a creature's stars itself, All stars (F11 → HUD) steps back and says why, so no star is drawn twice. Switch its level indicators off and BetrValheim's stars are back.

LetsBuild, BetrTame and BetrCompanion

With these mods by DezzyCode installed, each gets its own tab in the F11 window, the server's settings for admins only. BetrTame's creature display takes over the enemy health bar while it is on, and Dezzy from BetrCompanion stores what he brings home like quick stack.

DezzyCode

BetrValheim is made by DezzyCode.

The main menu carries a small link in its corner, More from DezzyCode, next to the changelog and the licence. It opens the mod page in your browser, asks before it does, and can be switched off under General.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

5.1.12

English

Works with: LetsBuild

  • LetsBuild by DezzyCode: its new "Hold to build" has its German name and explanation in F11.
  • LetsBuild by DezzyCode: with the new plant timer on, its rain and bees count in the time left, and only one growth display shows - BetrValheim's.

Timers for plants

  • Look at something you planted: how far it has grown and when it is ready. A picked bush shows when it bears again.
  • F11 → Stations → Production timers → "Plants", on by default.

Smooth animations

  • With the BetrUI look the inventory moves: a slot's edge lights up under the mouse and its item grows, leans after the mouse and gives way when you click, moved items glide to their new slot and new ones pop in.
  • Items you move with a click between a chest and your inventory fly across, with "Take all" one after another; what you make at the workbench flies into its slot.
  • Let something go where it can't go and the slot shakes and lights up red.
  • The item you hold sits right under the cursor, tilts the way you pull it (the faster, the more) and swings upright when you stop.
  • Buttons grow a little under the mouse; in the crafting list a row lights up and its picture and name slide over.
  • A pin you set on the map drops onto its spot, bounces once and sends a light ring out as it lands; a pin you remove falls apart into small sparks.
  • On the big map, a pin under the mouse - a portal, a marker, any of the game's - grows a little together with its name, as one piece.
  • Chests, the menu, the text window, BetrValheim's windows and tooltips fade in.
  • The mouse wheel eases lists along instead of jumping.
  • Putting something on fills its slot from the bottom with a bright edge while its orange frame comes in, taking it off runs it empty; once on, the mark pops in, once off, it fades. A new weapon in hand: the mark glides across to it, in the inventory, the hotbar and the BetrValheim HUD.
  • When the amount in a slot changes, its number pops - in the inventory, the hotbar and the HUD.
  • The BetrValheim HUD comes alive: health, eitr and stamina fill their bars like a liquid, with a slow wave at the front that sloshes after a hit or a heal and soft light drifting through; bars run to their new value, what a hit took stands a moment lighter and melts away, low health pulses the bar's edge red, running out of stamina flashes once, food in its last minute pulses, something just eaten pops in, and the power lights up when it is ready again.
  • The food circles and the power's diamond fill like a liquid too: food stands in its circle as long as it lasts and sinks as it runs out, runs up and sloshes when you eat, and the power rises in its diamond, standing still with a streak of light once it is ready.
  • Eating or drinking from a quick slot, the hotbar or a food circle makes the slot give way a moment, and the armor and weight widgets count to their new number.
  • F11 → General → Smooth animations, on by default; only with the BetrUI look.
  • How much it all moves: F11 → General → Animation strength, 0 to 200 %, 100 % by default.

Dynamic HUD

  • With the BetrUI look the parts of the HUD can fade away while there is nothing to see: the bars when everything is full, the food while it lasts, the power while it charges, slots, hotbar, status effects and minimap when nothing changes.
  • They come back as soon as something happens, in a fight and with the inventory open. Hold Left Alt to see everything.
  • F11 → HUD → Dynamic HUD, off by default; the key in F11 → Keys.

Face, food circles, bars and power in the HUD

  • The face in the BetrValheim HUD is a little smaller, frame included; the bars move in with it.
  • The food circles are larger and line up with the slot rows: the top one with the ammunition row, the bottom one with the quick slots.
  • The food circles come in the same deeper colours as the bars: a deep green, the stamina gold below half, the health red at the end; the light moving in them and in the power's diamond takes their own colour instead of white.
  • Health, eitr and stamina come in deeper colours with a little depth - a fine light along the top, a soft shade below - so they sit with the rest of the look; their numbers are white with a fine dark edge, easy to read on full and empty bars. The light moving inside them comes in each bar's own colour instead of white.
  • The power's diamond under the face ends level with the quick slots, its icon a little larger.

Adrenaline by the crosshair

  • With the BetrValheim HUD, adrenaline shows as two thin brackets left and right of the crosshair that fill from the bottom up, instead of the game's bar in the middle.
  • They fade in while you have adrenaline and fade out a second after it is gone; when a trinket wakes at full adrenaline, a light ring runs out once.
  • Comes with the BetrValheim HUD (F11 → HUD), only with the BetrUI look.

Rounder slots, one set of colours

  • With the BetrUI look the slots of the hotbar, the inventory, chests, the equipment page and the BetrValheim Slots in their own rows are as round as the slots of the BetrValheim HUD, frames and marks included, and their orange frames are thin. The item boxes of recipes and the build menu and the armor, weight and bin tiles beside the inventory and in the HUD match them.
  • Keys and amounts on the slots of the BetrValheim HUD and in its food circles are larger and easier to read.
  • The BetrValheim Slots in their own rows look like the hotbar's: brown, rounded, with the fine light edge.
  • BetrUI's orange, its light tint and its warning red are now the same everywhere: adrenaline, the crafting rows, status effects, overweight, a refused or armed slot and low health.

The game's map pins in the marker list

  • The list beside the large map now shows the game's own pins too, under your markers: one group per symbol, plus bosses, your death and the pins shared at the map table.
  • Click a pin to move the map there, tick it off, rename or delete it; a group's box shows or hides that symbol, like the game's own filter.
  • They stay the game's pins and are still there without BetrValheim. F11 → Map & compass, with the markers.

HUD when you die

  • While you die, no HUD is shown at all until the screen goes dark; before, the game's own HUD showed up in place of BetrValheim's. Only with the BetrUI look.

Place names on one line

  • When you find a place, a long name like "Burial Chambers" stays on one line again with the BetrUI look, so the lines around it no longer run through the text.

Translations

  • An older or partly translated language file in BetrValheim's folder no longer turns new texts into placeholder names; whatever it doesn't have shows as it comes with BetrValheim.

Chests collecting

  • Food you set down on a table, like a platter or a feast, stays where it is; chests no longer take it in.
  • Fish still swimming in the water stay there too: you have to catch them first. Fish you caught and dropped are still collected.

Drawers keep the level

  • Fish and anything else with a level keep it in a drawer: one drawer holds a kind in every level, each counted on its own, and looking at it shows how many of each.
  • Taking out by hand gives the lowest level first.
  • Crafting, stations and restocking only take plain ones (level 1) from drawers; higher levels stay until you take them yourself.

Bee boxes

  • Shift + E opens a bee box to put a queen in even when another mod or a controller got in the way before.

Deutsch

  • F11 → Stationen → Produktionszeiten → „Pflanzen“, standardmäßig an.

Weiche Animationen

Einsammeln in Kisten

5.1.11

English

Works with: Epic Loot, World Control

  • Epic Loot by RandyKnapp and the Epic Loot Team: sacrificing and identifying at its enchanting table now list items from nearby chests and drawers too, with "Craft and upgrade" (F11 → Crafting).
  • World Control by DezzyCode: its window follows the BetrUI look when it is switched on.

New defaults

  • Quick stack (K) and restock (L) are now on by default; they only do something when you press the key.
  • Other players' locked or warded chests are no longer used by default for crafting and refilling. Turn it back on in F11 → Sources → Include foreign private chests.
  • Only new installs get these; settings you already have stay as they are.

Simple and All in F11

  • F11 now opens in Simple: each feature with its main switch and a few numbers you reach for first, the rest out of the way.
  • All, at the top beside the search, shows every setting; the extra ones are marked "Detail". "+ N more under All" at the end of a tab gets you there too.
  • Your choice is remembered. The search always finds every setting, and hidden ones keep working as set.
  • F11 → Portals: the travel rune and its cost now sit under the portal picker, since the rune opens it.
  • The LetsBuild and BetrTame tabs put settings that only work with a switch on under that switch, grey while it is off.

One click, one sound

  • Switching the crafting tabs and pressing BetrValheim's buttons (portal choice and others) sounds once instead of two or three times.

Large map

  • The open map covers the BetrValheim HUD and the compass again, like the rest of the HUD.

Salvage

  • Taking something apart now makes a sound, the same one as taking a build piece down with the hammer.

Map markers

  • Tick markers off: click one on the map and it gets the game's red cross, click again to take it off. Also in the list, with the tick next to the marker.
  • In the list, ticked-off markers are grey, struck through and at the end of their group; the group shows how many are left, e.g. "Copper (12/30)".
  • The list is calmer: a marker row shows which way it is and how far, the buttons only appear when the mouse is over the row. The group's buttons (only this, rename, delete) sit in the group's own row.
  • Long groups first show the 10 nearest markers, then "… 20 more" to open the rest.

Auto equip armour

  • Now also when you take your grave all at once: everything you wore when you died goes back on by itself - armour, weapons, shield, tool and belt. F11 → Inventory → Auto equip armour on pickup, off by default.

Station settings

  • Shift + E now also works on charcoal kilns, cooking stations, ovens and fermenters: tick what they are refilled with, so the grill only gets the meat you want and the rest stays in your chests.
  • New in the same window: Pause stops refilling that one station.
  • New: Stop when stored nearby, e.g. 100: the kiln is only refilled while there's less than 100 coal in the chests around it. A smelter stops each ore on its own, once enough of its bars are stored.
  • Set per station, in game, for everyone; by hand with E you can still put in anything.
  • F11 → Stations → Station settings (Shift + E), on by default; only while refilling is on.

Lazy harvest

  • Beehives, bee boxes and fermenters empty themselves while you are near: honey and mead go straight into a chest or drawer close by that already holds them. With nowhere to put it, it stays in the station; nothing falls on the ground.
  • F11 → Stations → Lazy harvest, off by default, set by the server.

Backpack

  • Fixed: Ctrl-clicking an item in the backpack while a chest was open moved it into your inventory and copied it into the chest as well. It now only goes where it should.

Crafting at a workbench

  • Fixed: together with some other mods, crafting or upgrading at a workbench could fill the console with errors. That's gone now.

What you carry

  • The weight under the inventory now also counts the extra pages, the equipment page and the backpack, as set in F11 → Inventory → Weight (%). Before, it only showed the inventory itself.
  • The same weight now also decides when you carry too much and what you still pick up.

Picking up

  • When another mod has lost one of its build pieces, picked-up items no longer stay on the ground, nothing vanishes from the inventory any more and the build menu keeps working.

Equipment page

  • Two more quick slots, 7 and 8 (Alt + 7 and Alt + 8, F11 → Keys): the row along the bottom now runs the page's full width. Once something is in them they show in the HUD too: in the BetrValheim HUD the row of quick slots simply carries on past the bars.
  • The faint pictures in empty slots are fainter and dimmed, so they never look like a real item. Empty quick slots show a faint bolt of lightning, for quick; the cape slot shows the wolf fur cape, the backpack slot the backpack, and the trinket slot always the same trinket.
  • In BetrUI the fields behind each group of slots and behind your character look like BetrUI's windows: rounded, with a gentle shine and a fine light edge half as bright as the window's, a step darker.
  • In BetrUI the keys above the slots are white with a dark edge, like the amounts, instead of light blue.
  • Its button beside the pages shows your own face instead of a helmet, the same picture as in the BetrValheim HUD.
  • Sits exactly in the middle of its window, and the picture of your character has the same space to the slots beside it as the slot groups have between each other. The extra pages and the backpack are centred the same way.

BetrUI

  • What you have equipped is marked everywhere as on your quick slots instead of with the blue field: an edge in the accent colour with the same colour faintly inside - inventory, equipment page, chests and the hotbar.
  • A new look for the windows: flat, dark brown, a modern font in capitals, none of the game's wood and frames.
  • Rounded corners, a gentle light-to-dark shine and a fine light edge.
  • So far the F11 window, the chest categories, the marker window and list, the station choice and the question at death.
  • The game's inventory, chests and crafting too: flat panels, dark slots, flat tabs and buttons. Descriptions stay in normal letters.
  • Also the build menu and the game menu with its quit question.
  • And the small window for typing a name or a text: signs, tames, portals and chest names.
  • Armour, weight and the bin sit in a small window of their own beside the inventory, named in words; the bin turns red while you hold an item over it. The bin stays at the bottom of that window, also when another mod gives your inventory more rows.
  • The progress bar for equipping, eating and the like is a ring, lower on the screen, with its word under it.
  • While you drag an item, the slot under it shows whether it can go there: an orange frame if yes, a red one if not.
  • The slot under the mouse lights up a little, empty or not; the item in it no longer lights up itself.
  • The hotbar: dark slots like the inventory's; what you hold is framed in orange instead of blue.
  • The minimap in a frame like the windows, and the status effects as small rounded rows.
  • In BetrUI the BetrValheim HUD gets its own layout: your face in a circle, health, eitr and stamina beside it, the forsaken power under the face, the three food slots as circles on the left that also show what you are eating, ammo slots above (always shown when you have arrows or bolts in them) and quick slots below. All filled brown with a fine light edge, what you hold and the ready power marked in orange. It comes with the BetrUI look (F11 → General → Look), no separate switch anymore; with the Valheim look you get the game's own HUD. Its size in F11 → HUD → BetrValheim HUD → Size (%), where 100 is now a little smaller than before.
  • In BetrUI, the names of armor and weight in the inventory now follow BetrValheim's language.
  • New widgets in the BetrValheim HUD, right of the ammo slots: your armor and your weight (blinks red when you carry too much). Each one on or off in F11 → HUD → Widgets, both on by default.
  • In BetrUI the game's HUD texts are in BetrUI's font too: messages, the text at the crosshair, key hints, damage numbers, the build info, mount, events, new areas and new recipes. Texts over the world get a dark edge so they read well on a bright sky; colours stay the game's.
  • The mouse pointer becomes a larger flint point in grey with an orange edge.
  • Switch it in F11 → General → Look: BetrUI or Valheim. Valheim by default.
  • In the Valheim look these windows now use the same fonts as the game's own windows.
  • Runs smoother: the character picture in the inventory and BetrUI's font, which no longer stalls the first time a letter shows up.

Deutsch

Funktioniert mit: Epic Loot, World Control

  • Deine Wahl bleibt gespeichert.

Was du trägst

Beschreibungen bleiben in normaler Schrift.
Jedes einzeln in F11 → HUD → Widgets, beide standardmäßig an.

Works with: Creature Level & Loot Control, Epic Loot, CaptainSkillTree

  • Creature Level & Loot Control by Smoothbrain: while it shows a creature's stars itself, "All stars" steps back, so stars are no longer drawn twice. F11 → HUD → Enemy health bar → All stars is greyed out then and says why.
  • Epic Loot by RandyKnapp and the Epic Loot Team: finds the gear you wear on the equipment page and on your extra pages, so you can enchant, augment and temper it without taking it off.
  • CaptainSkillTree by korCaptain: gear you upgrade on the equipment page gets its crafting bonus, and nothing else in your inventory gets it by mistake.
  • CaptainSkillTree by korCaptain: skills that need a piece of gear worn (like the crafting levels) see the gear on your equipment page.

Cooking stations and ovens

  • No longer take meat, dough and wood from your chests by themselves by default, so nothing you need for recipes gets cooked away.
  • Switch it back on in F11 → Stations → Cooking station and oven. A server that already has it on keeps it on.
  • Pressing E on them still takes one item from a chest nearby, as before.

Tamed animals through portals

  • Tamed animals that follow you come along through portals again after you died.

Combat tempo

  • Now off by default: F11 → General → BetrValheim skills → Combat tempo. A server that already has it on keeps it on.
  • Faster attacks from other mods still add on top.
  • Fixed: hits could fail to land when another player had an older BetrValheim.

Enemy health bar with BetrTame

  • While BetrTame by DezzyCode shows its own creature display, F11 greys out Health number, All stars and Size and tells you why.

Translations

  • Combat tempo texts in Russian and Brazilian Portuguese.

Collecting loose items in busy areas

  • Fixed: in busy bases with lots of plants, stones or building pieces, storage could miss loose items and the game could stutter briefly. Now every loose item in range is found.

Kampftempo

Lose Gegenstände in dichten Gebieten einsammeln

Combat tempo balance

  • Attack animations are now 0.5% faster per skill level, up to +50% at level 100 instead of +100%. Existing skill levels and progress are kept.
  • F11 → General → Combat tempo; requires BetrValheim skills.

Extra inventory and equipment

  • Fixed extra inventory and equipment pages disappearing after a game update when older items could not be loaded.
  • Available items remain usable; unavailable items stay saved until they can be loaded again.

Backpack requirements

  • Clearer F11 descriptions: Extra inventory and Backpack cannot be enabled together. The equipment page is required to wear a backpack.
  • The equip message now lists the required settings: Extra inventory off, Equipment page on and Backpack on.

Creature display

  • Improved compatibility with creature name effects and coloured stars.
  • The size of the game's health bar is set apart from BetrTame's creature display. If you use both mods, update both.

A-Z sorting for chests

  • Optional A-Z button beside Place stacks sorts an open chest by item names in your game language.
  • F11 → Storage & pieces → Chest A-Z button, local, default off.

Wer beide Mods nutzt, aktualisiert beide.

5.1.5

English

Extra inventory after a game update

  • Fixed extra inventory and equipment pages disappearing after a game update.
  • Previously affected items can be loaded again; items that cannot be loaded stay saved.

Auto equip armour on pickup

  • Optional: picked-up helmets, chest armour, leg armour and capes fill empty armour slots with the game’s normal equip time and animation. Worn and queued equipment stay unchanged.
  • F11 → Inventory → Auto equip armour on pickup, local, default off; works with the normal inventory, extra pages and worn backpack. Crafting and chest transfers do not trigger it.

Manual refilling from containers

  • Use stations with E as usual: carried materials come first, then nearby chests and drawers supply one item at a time. Works with automatic refill off.
  • F11 → Stations → Manual refilling from containers, default on, set by the server; independent of crafting and building from containers.
  • Uses the station supply range, access rights, blocked items and reserves. Taking cooked food, tapping fermenters and toggling fires keep their normal behaviour.

Material count order

  • Building and crafting show available / required materials, for example 2000/10 instead of 10/2000.

Chest categories via Shift + E

  • Removed the Categories button from the chest window; open categories only with Shift + E on a chest.

New feeding trough model

  • Replaced the trough and its food filling with new textured models; existing troughs use the new appearance too.
  • The filling is visible only while food is stored; building size remains 2 m long.

Automatic creature display

  • While BetrTame by DezzyCode shows its creature display, it takes the place of the game's bar; switch it off, or play without BetrTame, and the game's bar is back.
  • BetrValheim's size setting only changes the game's bar.

Combat tempo skill

  • With F11 → General → BetrValheim skills → Combat tempo enabled (default on), damaging melee, ranged and magic hits on living creatures train Combat tempo, and it rises and drops on death like any other skill.
  • Each level speeds up attack animations by 1%, up to +100% at level 100. Every attack that hits counts once, however many it hits. Turning it off keeps your level.
  • Misses, blocked hits, trees, rocks and buildings give nothing. Drawing a bow and reloading a crossbow stay as they are.

Equipment slots follow their switches

  • Turning off backpacks or Rise at your grave in F11 hides the corresponding slot on the equipment page. Items left there stay saved and reappear when enabled again.

Quick stack and restock reach farther

  • The range for quick stack and restock now goes up to 128 m (was 50 m): about as far as the game keeps chests loaded around you. F11 → Storage & pieces → Range for both, default 10 m.

Works with RequipMe

  • With RequipMe by Neobotics, dropping your inventory before taking all from your grave now also empties the extra pages, the equipment page and the worn backpack, so nothing stays behind twice.

Quick Connect for dedicated servers

  • Fixed Quick Connect and remembered passwords failing after a dedicated server restart.
  • Join a server once by IP so Quick Connect can reconnect after future restarts.

F11 window grows with its tabs

  • With LetsBuild and BetrTame both installed, the window is taller instead of squeezing the tabs, so the last one keeps its room above the bottom edge. On a smaller screen the whole window is drawn smaller, as before.

Feeding trough follows the animals' food

  • Changes to animal food, for example through the server or BetrTame, apply to the feeding trough without a restart.

Lazy cooking while sleeping

  • Fixed food burning while sleeping or returning to a cooking station after a long time away. Finished food now drops out instead.
  • F11 → Stations → Lazy cooking, default off.

Enemy health bar: size and distance

  • The bar over a creature can be made bigger or smaller, with its name, number and stars. F11 → HUD → Enemy health bar → Size (%), default 100 (the game's).
  • How far away it is shown can be set: F11 → HUD → Enemy health bar → Distance (m), 10 to 100, default 30 (the game's). As in the game, a bar appears once you have looked at the creature (up to 50 m), then for a minute. Bosses keep their own.

Lazy Cooking beim Schlafen

5.1.4

English

Putting on armour from the extra inventory

  • Fixed: a piece put on from an extra page stayed there while the same kind of piece stayed in its equipment slot (e.g. a rag tunic over an enchanted rag tunic). It now goes to its slot and the old one goes back where the new one was.

Brazilian Portuguese

  • Added Brazilian Portuguese; Auto follows the game’s language.

Enemy health bar: all stars

  • The stars of a creature with more than two stars sit close together like the game's own two, instead of spread across the screen.
  • F11 → HUD → Enemy health bar → All stars, default on.

Deutsch

5.1.3

English

World tab in F11 (server, all off by default)

  • Items float: everything that falls into water or tar floats; items on the bottom come up when the area loads again. A list sets items that still sink.
  • Loot at once: a creature's loot drops the moment it dies; the body still falls and vanishes as before.
  • Chests refill: chests the world placed fill again from their own loot table some days after they were emptied. Never chests players built.
  • Camps repopulate: creatures the world places only once (camps, villages, dungeons) return some days after they died. Not bosses, not quest carriers.
  • Both come back only when their area loads again, never in front of anybody; days set in F11 (default 30).

Enemy health bar

  • Shows a creature's health as a number (now / most) and all its stars: up to five as stars, beyond that one star and the number.
  • F11 → HUD → Enemy health bar, each on its own, default on.

Salvage and enchanted items

  • Items enchanted with Epic Loot by RandyKnapp and the Epic Loot Team can be taken apart too; the panel warns in red that the enchantment is lost.

Protected portals

  • Portals take no damage from monsters, weapons, fire or missing support, and monsters no longer go for them; a hit shows a grey 0, as the game does for immunity.
  • Only the hammer takes them down, as before for every player.
  • Applies to every portal, also those of other mods. F11 → Portals → Protected portals (server), default off.

Copy of a player left at the portal

  • Fixed a fault of the game: after someone went through a portal, the others could keep seeing a copy of them at the portal.
  • Always on, works when the server or the hosting player has BetrValheim.

Production timer names the right product

  • The timer at the birds' nest no longer says "Next honey": it shows what the object makes, e.g. "Feathers in: 03:52".
  • Beehives and bee boxes show "Honey in: …".
  • The setting now names the nest too: F11 → Stations → Beehives, bee boxes and birds' nests, default on.

BetrTame in F11

  • With BetrTame by DezzyCode installed, F11 has a BetrTame tab at the bottom with all of its settings, section by section.
  • What BetrTame has the server set, only admins change; everything else each player sets for themselves.
  • New or renamed BetrTame settings appear automatically.
  • BetrTame settings include translated names and descriptions.
  • Deer and hares tamed with BetrTame that follow you come along through portals too.
  • The highlighted tab is right again when LetsBuild is not installed.

Reiter „Welt“ in F11 (Server, alles standardmäßig aus)

  • Gegenstände schwimmen: Alles, was in Wasser oder Teer fällt, schwimmt; was am Grund liegt, kommt hoch, wenn die Gegend neu lädt. Eine Liste legt fest, was weiter sinkt.

B. „Federn in: 03:52“.
  • Bienenstöcke und Bienenkisten zeigen „Honig in: …“.
  • Die Einstellung nennt jetzt auch das Nest: F11 → Stationen → Bienenstöcke, Bienenkisten und Vogelnester, Standard an.

BetrTame in F11

5.1.2

English

LetsBuild in F11

  • New or renamed LetsBuild settings appear automatically.

Extra inventory and equipment page after updating from 5.0.2

  • Fixed: a save with materials or fish in a quick slot (allowed before 5.1.0) could not be read, so the extra pages and the equipment page stayed empty. Nothing was lost: the save was left untouched and now loads again with everything on it.
  • Stacks a server made smaller no longer make the pages unreadable either.

5.1.0

English

Everyone on a server needs 5.1.0

  • New items: 5.0.x and 5.1.0 no longer play together.

Backpack

  • New item from the workbench, five levels (5×2 to 8×5). Worn like armour in its own slot on the equipment page (right click), with its own tab; everyone sees it on your back.
  • Picked up items go in first; contents weigh 80 % and count for crafting; worn, the bag itself weighs nothing.
  • Ctrl-click moves stacks between inventory and backpack while its tab is open; K and drawers also store from it.
  • Contents stay in it wherever it goes; ore in it stops portals.
  • Backpack or extra pages, not both. All set by the server in F11 → Backpack; on by default.

Travel rune

  • New item from the artisan table: 1 surtling core, 1 freeze gland, 10 core wood, 10 greydwarf eyes, 1 silver. Known once a freeze gland was held.
  • Use it, choose a portal on the map, read it, travel. Used up only by the journey; a portal's rules apply.
  • Glows magenta on the ground.
  • Set by the server in F11 → Portals: on/off and its cost; on by default, works only with the portal picker on.

Chest categories

  • Give a chest categories, single items, a priority and a name: button in the chest window or Shift + E.
  • Quick stack (K), tidying up and place stacks follow them; chests without categories work as before.
  • Set by the server: F11 → Storage & pieces; off by default.

Stack size and item weight

  • Stacks ×1 to ×100, weight 0 to 100 %, for every item (other mods' too). Lowering stacks never loses items.
  • Set by the server: F11 → Inventory → Items; default ×1 and 100 %.

Drawer capacity

  • 5000 to 100000 per drawer, set by the server (F11 → Storage & pieces); 10000 by default. A drawer with something in it can no longer be torn down.

Quick slots

  • Only for what can be used: no more materials or fish.

Loading screen

  • Can be switched off: F11 → General → Own loading screen; on by default.

Fixes

  • Portal travel from the map: you are moved only once the screen is black.
  • Crafting search: typing E no longer closes the inventory.
  • Bee box: "Look inside" also works with a key a mod puts in place of Shift + E.

Reiserune

  • Neuer Gegenstand vom Artisan table: 1 Surtlingkern, 1 Frostdrüse, 10 Kernholz, 10 Grauzwergenaugen, 1 Silber.

Ladebildschirm

  • Abschaltbar: F11 → Allgemein → Eigener Ladebildschirm; standardmäßig an.

Fehlerbehebungen

5.0.2

English

Salvage tab

  • A new tab beside Upgrade at every crafting station takes apart items made at that station and gives back part of their materials.
  • Every quality level counts: an item upgraded to level 3 gives back from all three levels.
  • How much comes back is set by the server (F11 → Crafting → Salvage tab); 50 % by default, rounded up; worn items give as much as new ones.
  • Not listed: what you wear, the hotbar (1-8) and items enchanted with Epic Loot by RandyKnapp and the Epic Loot Team.
  • Arrows and other batches only whole: 20 arrows give back one craft.
  • The station needs the level the item's quality needed; the button says why when something is missing.
  • Materials go into the inventory and the extra pages; what does not fit drops at your feet.
  • On by default.

Loading screen

  • The version stands small in the lower left corner, as F11 shows it.

Rise at your grave

  • A new slot for one Fuling totem on the equipment page, small in the top left of the picture; the rest of a stack stays where it was.
  • With a totem there, dying asks: rise at your grave? Yes costs one totem; no is as in the game, at your bed or, without one, at the start.
  • The totem in that slot stays with you when you die; rising at the grave uses it.
  • Set by the server (F11 → General → Rise at your grave); on by default; needs the equipment page.

Fetch materials while building

  • With the hammer, cultivator or hoe, Ctrl + middle mouse puts the materials for one of the chosen piece into your inventory, from chests, drawers and the ground in reach.
  • A message in the middle of the screen (and in the upper left) says what came and what is missing, with the writing sound of the cartography table; the piece you look at is not removed.
  • Shown in the key hints at the bottom while building.
  • The key is set in F11 → Keys → Fetch materials key; the middle and side mouse buttons can now be chosen there too.

Compass centre

  • A small triangle over the middle of the compass shows where you look.

Marker sound

  • Setting a marker plays the writing sound of the cartography table, only for you.
  • F11 → Map & compass → Marker sound; on by default.

Markers at the cartography table

  • Writing to a cartography table shares your markers as the game shares its own pins; whoever reads it sees them as map pins.
  • Only groups shown in the marker list; hidden groups stay yours.
  • F11 → Map & compass → Share markers at the cartography table, for each player; on by default.

Favourites per stack

  • Alt + click marks only the stack you click, not every stack of its kind: of two stacks of wood, only the marked one stays with you when quick stacking.
  • A part split off a favourite is a normal stack; a favourite put whole onto another stack of its kind keeps that stack a favourite.
  • Favourites of earlier versions are taken over once onto the stacks you carry.

Carts as storage

  • A cart nobody is pulling takes in loose items of the kinds it already holds, as chests do (F11 → Storage & pieces → Storage collects by itself).
  • Crafting from storage and stations take from it too, as from a chest in reach; ward and privacy count as for chests.
  • Quick stack, restock and fetching materials while building leave carts out.

Mist and sails set by the server

  • How see-through the Mistlands mist and ship sails are is now set by the server, the same for every player (F11 → Display, with the lock).
  • 100 % by default, as in the game; a value an admin set before is taken over.

Choose a station's materials

  • Shift + E on a station that takes several materials (smelter, blast furnace and the like) opens a small window: tick which materials it is refilled with.
  • It lists the materials lying in the station's reach, and every one switched off.
  • Untouched, everything is on and the game's order counts, as before; by hand with E you can still put in anything.
  • Kept on the station for every player; changed by whoever may use it (ward). Works with the gamepad (alt key + use).
  • Only while refilling is on (F11 → Stations → Refill, Refill material and the station kind); otherwise Shift + E is as in the game.
  • Switched in F11 → Stations → Choose materials (Shift + E), set by the server; on by default. Off, Shift + E is as in the game and every material is refilled.

Feeding trough left alone

  • Wild animals and other creatures no longer pick the feeding trough as something to attack.
  • Taming with it works as before: wild animals that can be tamed eat from it as from the ground.

Armory storage in quick stack and restock

  • Quick stack and restock now use the storage of the Armory forge from Armory by Therzie too; before, only crafting, stations and auto storing did.

Deutsch

Zerlegen-Tab

  • Standardmäßig an.

Ladebildschirm

Materialien holen beim Bauen

  • F11 → Karte & Kompass → Marker-Sound; standardmäßig an.

5.0.1

BetrValheim skills

  • The game's skills under stronger rules, shown as "BetrValheim: Run" and so on.
  • Every skill learns 1.5 times as fast.
  • Per level +0.5: Blocking max. health, Run and Dodge max. stamina, Elemental and Blood magic max. eitr, Woodcutting and Pickaxes carry weight (+50 each at level 100).
  • The same skills refill their value faster: Blocking health, Run or Dodge stamina, Elemental or Blood magic eitr; ×1 at level 0 up to ×5 at level 100, the higher of two skills counts.
  • The skills window shows each skill's bonus in its tooltip.
  • Levels stay in the game's skills: off or without the mod they are kept, only the maximums go.
  • One switch, set by the server (F11 → General → BetrValheim skills); off by default.

BetrValheim armour set bonus

  • Every piece of the game's armour sets (helmet, chest, legs) adds max. health and stamina while worn; mage sets add eitr too.
  • Heavy sets give more health, light sets more stamina; later biomes give more (e.g. Leather +2/+2, Iron +8/+3, Padded +12/+6, Protector +20/+11 per piece).
  • Eitr per piece: Eitr-weave 8, Embla 12, Caller 16.
  • One more of each per quality level; the tooltip shows the piece's values under its armour and the whole set like the game's set effects with how many pieces you wear, also in the crafting panel.
  • Armour values stay as in the game; capes and clothing add nothing.
  • Set by the server (F11 → General → BetrValheim armour set bonus); off by default.

Thrown weapons come back to their slot

  • A thrown spear you pick up again goes back to the slot you threw it from, if it is still free, and back into your hand as in the game.
  • Otherwise it goes where pickups always go. Always on.

Stacks on the equipment page fill up

  • Arrows, food and the like you pick up, take from a chest or craft top up the stacks already on the equipment page first, as the game fills its own stacks first.
  • Only existing stacks; empty slots stay yours to fill. Always on.

Bosses on the compass

  • Bosses you have found (pinned on the map by a runestone) show on the compass line, at any distance.
  • The one you look towards with its name and distance; crossed out on the map: not shown.
  • On by default, yours alone (F11 → Map → Bosses).

Marker groups at a glance

  • The marker name window lists all your groups, the latest used first, until you change the offered name; typing filters as before.

Status effect list: values no longer overlap names

  • The time column grows with the widest value shown, so "Comfort: 4" next to Resting stays clear of the name.

Armory support

  • The storage of the Armory forge from Armory by Therzie counts as a chest for crafting, stations, quick stack and auto storing.

Clearer station settings in config editors

  • Each station switch now says what it does: the station fetches its own fuel and material from chests and drawers nearby.
  • Only the descriptions changed; your settings stay as they are.

5.0.0

Equipment page as a character sheet

  • Your character stands in the middle, wearing what you wear, lit and with a shadow at its feet; drag to turn it.
  • A small mouse sign in the picture's bottom right corner shows that it turns when dragged.
  • Armour and utilities on the left; food, ammunition and keys on the right; quick slots along the bottom.
  • The trinket sits as a small slot in the top right corner of the character picture.
  • Where things are stored does not change, only where they are shown.
  • On by default, yours alone (F11 → Inventory → Equipment page); off shows the figure as before.

Comparison in the tooltip

  • An item's tooltip shows how it differs from what you wear or hold in its place.
  • Armour, damage, block, durability, movement, weight: green where better, red where worse.
  • On by default, yours alone (F11 → Inventory).

Skill progress

  • While a skill rises, a short line in the upper left: its level and how far it is to the next, e.g. "Woodcutting 23 · 45 %".
  • At most every few seconds per skill; a new level is still announced by the game.
  • On by default, yours alone (F11 → HUD).

4.58.2

F11 in blocks

  • Each feature is one block: its switch on top, its settings indented below.
  • Settings of a switched-off feature are grey, e.g. compass size while the compass is off.
  • A grey setting says why, e.g. "Takes effect once “Compass” is on" or "Only an admin sets this".
  • What the server sets is marked "Server" at the row; a feature is no longer split into a server and an own part.
  • The search shows whole blocks, so a setting is always seen with what it belongs to.
  • Names, buttons and keys shrink to fit in every language instead of running over.
  • Every row is as tall as its text: no more empty space under short rows, no text running into the next.
  • Larger text and a larger window; on a smaller screen or a large interface size it shrinks to fit.

Grave on the compass

  • Your grave shows on the compass line; looking towards it shows its distance.
  • Taken from the game's death marker of your latest death.
  • Once you stand at it and the grave is emptied, the death marker leaves the map too.
  • On by default, yours alone (F11 → Map & compass, needs the compass on).

Status effects as a list

  • The game's status effects, top right, as a list going down: icon, name and the time left in one row each.
  • Each row on a see-through backdrop; the time stands on the right.
  • As wide as the longest name shown right now: grows and shrinks with your effects.
  • Just left of the minimap, level with its top.
  • Blinking, cooldown and the flash of a new effect show as in the game.
  • An effect that runs out shows a bar under its name, as long as the longest name shown.
  • On by default, size 50–150 %, bar on. Yours alone (F11 → HUD); off brings back the game's tiles.

Loading screen: turning sign

  • Only the game's picture, logo and loading symbol give way; everything else of the game's loading screen stays.
  • The DezzyCode sign turns where the game's loading symbol is and as large, "Loading..." under it, in your language.
  • The game's dark bands at the top and bottom stay, lighter.

Epic Loot support (Epic Loot by RandyKnapp and the Epic Loot Team)

  • Its enchanting table takes materials from nearby chests and drawers, with "Craft and upgrade" (F11 → Crafting).
  • Only materials come from storage; the items you enchant stay the ones you carry.
  • Its enchanting materials show their own rarity colour on a drawer.
  • Only active when Epic Loot is installed.

4.58.1

Version in F11

  • F11 → General now shows the installed BetrValheim version.

Extra pages: own position

  • Extra pages and equipment page, with their rail, can stand anywhere (F11 → Inventory).
  • Auto: under the inventory, as before. Own: X/Y in pixels from the lower left corner.
  • An open chest stands in their place, as before. Yours alone, Auto by default.

Russian translation

  • Updated Russian translation for 4.58.

Fixed

  • Long key combinations (e.g. in Russian) shrink to fit their button in F11 → Keys instead of being cut off.
  • The HUD tab's hint in F11 now says positions are pixels from the lower left corner.

Removed

  • The old console command easywork; betrvalheim does the same.

4.58.0

Own key for every equipment slot

  • 6 quick, 3 food and 3 ammo slots each get their own key (F11 → Keys), alone or with Ctrl/Shift/Alt.
  • Default as before: Alt + 1–6, Shift + 1–3, Alt + R/T/Z. A changed held key is carried over.
  • Works while walking or running. A key the game also uses (X sit, C walk) then only does the slot.

Crafting search

  • Search field over the recipe list of every workbench and station, on craft and upgrade tab.
  • You stand still while typing; Tab/E/Escape don't close the inventory. Emptied when it closes.
  • Yours alone, on by default (F11 → Crafting).

Lazy cooking

  • Done food drops out of cooking stations and ovens by itself, before it burns.
  • Only stations where food can burn. Off by default, set by the server (F11 → Stations).

Search in F11

  • Search field over the settings: finds settings of all categories by name or description.
  • Empty the field or pick a category to go back. Escape leaves the field, not the window.

Show helmet

  • Off: your helmet is hidden for everyone, hair and beard show. Protection stays (F11 → Display).

Build switches for drawers, feeding trough and bee boxes

  • Each can be taken out of the hammer menu (F11 → Storage & pieces). On by default, set by the server.
  • Built ones stay with their contents and keep working.

Compass

  • A compass line at the top: 8 directions, a tick every 15°, in the mod's language.
  • Optional: your markers on it (12 nearest within 500 m); the one you look towards shows name and distance.
  • Off by default, yours alone; size and place under F11 → Map & compass (Auto or own X/Y).

Clock on the minimap

  • Day and in-game time in the lower right corner of the minimap, e.g. "Day 42 14:30" (24 hours).
  • Hides with the minimap. Off by default, yours alone (F11 → Map & compass).

BetrValheim HUD: slots move up

  • An empty slot column (e.g. ammo without a bow) leaves no gap; the columns after it move up.

F11 sorted by subject

  • 11 tabs instead of 13: everything about one thing in one tab, all keys in a new Keys tab.
  • New tabs Storage & pieces, Map & compass and Display; refilling, stations and timers are one Stations tab.
  • Within a tab, settings for everyone come first, yours alone below, each under a heading.
  • Your settings are carried over.

Positions in pixels

  • Own X/Y of BetrValheim HUD, BetrValheim Slots and compass now in pixels of your game resolution (F11 → HUD, Map & compass).
  • 0/0 = lower left corner; end of the slider = flush right or top. The element never leaves the screen.
  • It stays in place at any resolution. Your old position is carried over.

Smoother

  • The BetrValheim HUD and the compass use less of your computer's power.

Fixed

  • A trinket on the equipment page now triggers at full adrenaline; adrenaline no longer stays full.
  • The marker list no longer opens next to the portal picker.
  • A key of BetrValheim's is never also the game's: e.g. Alt + 1 no longer also uses the hotbar slot.
  • Quick stack, restock, the marker key and F11 now work while other keys are held, e.g. while walking.
