README

Runestone Records

Description

Runestone Records gives Valheim's native achievements a full in-game journal. Open it with F7 or the Achievements button in your inventory to see what you have completed, what remains, and your progress toward each requirement.

By default, the mod also lets Valheim continue recording and unlocking native achievements when mods, cheats, or world modifiers would normally block eligibility. Set General.EnableAchievementsWithMods to false if you only want the journal. Opening the journal does not grant achievements or recreate progress from before Valheim tracked it.

Installation instructions

Mod manager: Install Runestone Records for Valheim with Thunderstore Mod Manager, r2modman, or Gale. The declared dependencies install BepInExPack for Valheim and Jötunn. Launch the game through the manager, load a character, and press F7.

Manual: Install BepInEx 5 and Jötunn 2.30.0 or later first. Extract this package, then copy plugins/RunestoneRecords.dll to Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/RunestoneRecords/RunestoneRecords.dll. Restart Valheim.

Runestone Records is client-side. Each player who wants the journal or achievement eligibility setting needs it on their own PC; no dedicated-server installation is required.

Main features

  • Browse every native achievement, including secret requirements by default. Hide locked secrets with a saved sidebar toggle; completed secrets remain visible and are marked SECRET. No custom achievements or points are added.
  • Find goals with categories, search, All/In Progress/Completed/Tracked filters, and sorting by game order, name, or closest to completion. Hide Completed removes finished achievements while keeping unfinished and unstarted goals visible.
  • Read the full achievement description without expanding it. Expand a row to see each recorded requirement, current and target values, collection entries, difficulty, and combat-method conditions. Use Missing Reqs inside the expanded row to show only unfinished criteria; long lists have their own scrollbar.
  • Resize the journal by dragging its lower-right corner; the chosen size is saved and clamped to the screen. Categories scroll when the window is short.
  • Pin up to three achievements on the HUD. The tracker shows overall progress, up to five unfinished requirements, and a count of any more. It sits behind inventory and other game windows during play. Move it by the heading or resize it from the lower-right corner while the journal is open. Pins are saved per character; tracker position and size are saved in the config.
  • Progress refreshes while you play without resetting the list. Completed goals stay pinned until you remove them.
  • Open or close with F7; Escape and the window's close button also close it. The F7 shortcut is configurable.

Requirements

  • BepInEx 5
  • Jötunn 2.30.0 or later

Shout outs

Thanks to the BepInEx and Jötunn teams for the frameworks that make Valheim mods like this possible.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.3.1

  • Display The Explorer's East and West requirements by their actual map directions. Valheim's native stats record them the other way around; progress and unlocks still use those native stats.
  • Place achievements with Explore stats in the Exploration category.

1.3.0

  • Add Hide Completed to the achievement list so finished goals can be filtered out.
  • Make Missing Reqs hide completed criteria inside expanded achievements as progress changes.
  • Let the pinned tracker be resized from its lower-right corner while the journal is open, using the same resize grip as the journal. Save the chosen size.
  • Show up to five unfinished requirements for each pinned achievement, with a count when more remain.
  • Draw the tracker behind inventory and other game windows during play, but above the journal while it is open for moving and resizing.

1.2.0

  • Make the achievement journal resizable from its lower-right corner.
  • Save the chosen width and height, keeping the window on screen when the resolution or UI scale changes.
  • Preserve list and expanded requirement scroll positions when the layout reflows after resizing.
  • Let the category sidebar scroll when the journal is too short to show every category.

1.1.0

  • Show full achievement descriptions in collapsed rows and keep expanded details focused on requirements.
  • Add a saved Hide Locked Secrets toggle; completed secrets remain visible and carry a SECRET badge.
  • Remove pinned locked secrets when they are hidden and update the list when a secret is completed.

1.0.0

  • Introduced the Runestone Records journal for Valheim's native achievements.
  • Added categories, search, filters, sorting, complete requirement details, and live progress.
  • Added a movable HUD tracker for up to three pinned achievements, with per-character pins.
  • Added an inventory entry and configurable F7 shortcut.
  • Preserved the configurable achievement-eligibility override.
