Spirit Storage
Tired of rows and rows of chests? Build a Spirit Storage: a vessel bound with wandering spirits that holds everything you own in one place, in one searchable grid - with no stack limits.
Features
- One storage, everything in it. Every material is merged into a single cell with its full count - 4,812 Wood is one cell, not 97 stacks.
- Search, filter and sort. Type to search by name, toggle type filters (Food, Build, Weapons, Tools, Misc, Mods) and change the order (A-Z, Z-A, Most, Least, Type). Your filters and order are remembered.
- Craft and build straight from storage. Any Spirit Storage within 100m counts toward crafting and building. Missing materials are pulled from it automatically, and the requirement list shows what you have in total (inventory + storage), e.g.
344/10. - Works like a chest. Opening it also opens your normal inventory and crafting screen, so equipping, crafting and dragging items around all work as usual.
- Real item tooltips. Hover a cell to see the same details as in your inventory (stats, durability, weight).
- Movable, resizable window. Drag the panel wherever you like - it remembers its position. Size is configurable.
- Finite, but generous. Capacity limits how many different item types you can store (20,000 by default), not how many of each.
How to get it
Build it with the Hammer, under Furniture, near a Workbench:
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Wood | 10 |
| Greydwarf Eye | 5 |
Controls
With the storage open:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Click a stored item | Take one stack |
| Ctrl + Click a stored item | Take all of it |
| Shift + Click a stored item | Choose an exact amount |
| Ctrl + Click an item in your inventory | Store it (also works from the hotbar) |
| Drag an item out of your inventory | Store it instead of dropping it on the ground |
| Deposit All | Store everything except your hotbar, equipped gear and extra slots |
| Esc or Tab | Close |
Configuration
Edit BepInEx/config/com.codex.valheim.spiritstorage.cfg (or use a config manager):
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
Storage.MaxItemTypes |
20000 | How many different item types one storage can hold |
Crafting.CraftRange |
100 | How close (meters) a storage must be to craft/build from it |
UI.PanelScale |
1.25 | Size of the storage window (0.5 - 2.5) |
Debug.VerboseLogging |
false | Log every deposit/withdraw - turn on when reporting a bug |
The window position, type filters and sort order are saved automatically.
Compatibility
- EpicLoot - magic item names and rarity colors are shown in the storage.
- DropMoreLoot - withdrawn stacks follow its Item Stack Multiplier (non-stackable items stay at 1).
- ExtraSlots - Deposit All leaves your extra equipment, food, ammo and utility slots alone.
- NoVikingLeftBehind / StoreAndCraft - their "craft from chests" counts and Spirit Storage are added together in the requirement list.
Multiplayer
Every player on the server must have the mod installed (same major.minor version).
Known limitation: each storage should be used by one player per session. Each player's game reads a storage's contents once, the first time it's needed, so if two players both use the same storage in the same session, one may see outdated contents and their changes can overwrite the other's (items may be lost). Giving each player their own Spirit Storage avoids this entirely.
Bugs and feedback
If something goes wrong, turn on Debug.VerboseLogging, reproduce the problem, and include BepInEx/LogOutput.log in your report.
CHANGELOG
Changelog
0.10.3
- EpicLoot's enchanting table can now use materials (runestones, dust, essences, shards...) stored in any Spirit Storage within 100m - they're counted and spent like the ones in your inventory. Works alongside EpicLoot Craft From Chests. Gear to enchant still needs to be in your inventory.
- New Deposit Fill button next to Deposit All: stores only items of a kind the storage already holds (e.g. tops up your Wood and Stone but leaves a new item in your inventory). Like Deposit All, it skips your hotbar, equipped gear and extra slots.
0.10.2
- Much finer Types Filter: Food, Potions, Metals, Woods, Ingredients, Valuables, Weapons, Ranged, Ammo, Armour, Magic, Tools, Trophies, Misc, Mods, in two columns. An item can be in more than one (an enchanted sword shows under both Weapons and Magic). Ranged covers bows, crossbows and staffs; Magic covers staffs and EpicLoot enchanted gear; Valuables is anything a trader buys.
- Your previously selected filters reset once, since the categories changed.
- Hovering an item in the storage now shows its tooltip (stats, durability, weight, EpicLoot info), like in your inventory.
0.10.1
- Fixed upgrading gear at an upgrade station for free when the upgrade item (e.g. Ashlands' tiered upgrade tokens) was in Spirit Storage instead of your inventory: the upgrade went through but the token was never used up. It's now taken from storage and consumed like any other material.
- Crafting from storage no longer bypasses a missing or too-low-level crafting station.
- Works together with other "craft from chests" mods (NoVikingLeftBehind, StoreAndCraft, EpicLoot Craft From Chests...) again: if Spirit Storage doesn't have everything a craft or build needs, it contributes what it has and lets those mods supply the rest, instead of refusing the craft.
0.10.0
- Multiplayer rework (in testing): the server now manages every storage. Any number of players can use the same storage at the same time, see each other's changes right away, and nothing is duplicated or lost. In 0.9.0, two players using one storage in the same session could overwrite each other and lose items - please update.
- The server must also have the mod installed. 0.10.0 can't connect with 0.9.0, so everyone on a server updates together.
- Magic items now keep their EpicLoot enchantments in storage (they were lost when the storage reloaded, e.g. after relogging).
- Crafting and building now only take from storage what's missing from your inventory (before, they took the full amount from storage even when you were carrying the materials).
- Storages from 0.9.0 are converted automatically - nothing is lost.
0.9.0
- First public release.
- Spirit Storage: one buildable vessel that merges every item type into a single cell with no stack limits, capped by number of item types (20,000 by default).
- Search box, toggleable type filters (Food, Build, Weapons, Tools, Misc, Mods) and sort order (A-Z, Z-A, Most, Least, Type), all remembered between sessions.
- Craft and build from any Spirit Storage within 100m; the requirement list shows inventory + storage totals.
- Store items with Ctrl+Click or by dragging them out of your inventory; Deposit All skips hotbar, equipped gear and ExtraSlots slots.
- Draggable window that remembers its position, with configurable size.
- Compatible with EpicLoot, DropMoreLoot, ExtraSlots, NoVikingLeftBehind and StoreAndCraft.
