README

ValheimPlus Logo

ValheimPlus

A HarmonyX Mod aimed at improving the gameplay quality of Valheim. The mod includes several different main features that allow users to modify the stats of players, buildings and entities. V+ also offers players the ability to build and place objects with very high precision through a sophisticated system, as well as tweaking and modifying already placed objects with equal precision. The goal is to provide V+ as a base modification for Valheim to increase quality of life, tweak the game's difficulty, and in general, improve the player's experience. V+ also comes with a version and configuration control system for servers and users, enabling server owners to ensure that only players with the same configuration are able to join the server.

ValheimPlus Server Hosting

We teamed up with one of the best game hosting companies out there to make sure we can offer you the best quality dedicated game server hosting at affordable good prices. We work together closely to make sure all our features are integrated and working at all times. We even have a full time dedicated Zap-Hosting support team to help you out in our discord in addition.

Installation Instructions

We supply 4 different versions of V+ with every release since version 0.8. You can find detailed instructions on how to install these variants below.

ATTENTION FOR MULTIPLAYER: Both the game and the server should have this mod installed to prevent all kinds of different issues. If you have the mod installed and then have friends join over steam they should have the mod as well.

Detailed installation instructions can be found on our website.

Windows

Game(Steam)

  1. Download the latest package called WindowsClient.zip over this link. (Scroll down and click "assets")
  2. Locate your game folder manually or start Steam client and right-click the Valheim game in your Steam library and select Manage -> browse local files for Steam to open your game folder.
  3. Extract the contents of the .zip file into the game folder.
  4. Open valheim_plus.cfg under BepInEx\config with any text editor and configure the mod to your needs.

Please read the section about Server Config & Version Control (About Version Enforcement) below.

Server

Easy to set up and ready to use ValheimPlus servers can be rented here at ZAP-Hosting.com!

This guide does not cover how to create a dedicated server. These are the steps to install the mod:

  1. Download the latest package called WindowsServer.zip over this link. (Scroll down and click "assets")
  2. Extract the contents of the .zip file into your root server folder.
  3. Open valheim_plus.cfg under BepInEx\config with any text editor and configure the mod to your needs.

Please read the section about Server Config & Version Control (About Version Enforcement) below.

Linux/Unix

Server[Linux/Unix]

Easy to set up and ready to use ValheimPlus servers can be rented here at ZAP-Hosting.com !

This guide does not cover how to create a dedicated server. These are the steps to install the mod:

  1. Download the latest package called UnixServer.zip over this link. (Scroll down and click "assets")
  2. Extract the contents of the .zip file into your root server folder.
  3. Make sure to run 'chmod u+x start_server_bepinex.sh' to make the start script executable.
  4. Make sure that all uploaded files belong to the owner and group who owns and starts the Valheim server, e.g 'chown -R steam:steam ./valheim/
  5. Configure server startup parameters:
    • If you intend to run the script directly, open it and edit the variables at the top (description included in the file).
    • If you want to define the parameters elsewhere, you can pass them to start_server_bepinex.sh as you would to the valheim server executable (description included in the file). This is recommended over the first approach, as updates will overwrite the start script and you would have to configure it again.
    • If you are using LGSM, go inside your instance config file and change executable to "./start_server_bepinex.sh" to load the mod and your server arguments. More on LGSM config files can be found on their homepage.
  6. Make sure to start the server via start_server_bepinex.sh, else the mod will not be loaded.

Game[Linux/Unix]

  1. NOTE: It is recommended to install ValheimPlus before installing other mods, especially those which also use BepInEx.
  2. Download the latest package called UnixServer.zip over this link. (Scroll down and click "assets").
  3. Locate your Valheim/ game folder.
Open your Steam client. In your "Library" tab, right-click on Valheim. Select "Manage 🡺 Browse local files", and make note of the location.
    image
  4. Ensure that you have the correct path to your game folder location:
my_path=/replace/with/your/path/to/common/Valheim/
test -e $my_path/valheim_Data && echo "$my_path is valid!" || echo "$my_path is invalid :("
  1. Complete the installation by backing up your game folder, extracting the package, and adding the necessary permissions:
mkdir $my_path/../Valheim.`date +%Y-%m-%d` && cp -br $my_path/* $_ && echo "backup created"
unzip -o ~/Downloads/UnixServer.zip -d $my_path
chmod u+x $my_path/start_game_bepinex.sh
  1. Return to your Steam client. In your "Library" tab, right-click on Valheim.
    Select "Properties...."
In the pop-up, add the following to the "Launch Options" ./start_game_bepinex.sh %command%
(in rare cases that this command does not work, use bash /start_game_bepinex.sh %command% instead)
    image

Uses libc6-dev

Most server hosters do not allow you to upload script files or make your own scripts executable (for very good reasons). You will have to wait until your hoster adapts V+ for his servers.

DIY Valheim and Valheim+ Dedicated Server Installer: The Njord installer provided by ZeroBandwidth and team allows for you to easily set up your own Dedicated Valheim Server built on Ubuntu Linux. This menu system gives you the option to play Valheim in vanilla mode or with the all modding power of Valheim+.

Please read the section about Server Config & Version Control (About Version Enforcement) below.

What if the game updates?

Game updates are unlikely to do more than partially break specific features of ValheimPlus at worst. In case you encounter any issues, use Steam's verify integrity feature and wait for it to download/update all files. This should resolve any issues related. If you continue to have issues, contact the help channel in our discord server.

Server Config & Version Control (About Version Enforcement)

  • If you have the Server section and enforceMod enabled in the mods config, only players with the same mod version can join your server and you can only join servers with the same mod version installed.
  • If you have the Server section and serverSyncsConfig enabled in the mods config, every player joining your server will receive the servers configuration.
  • This system is working reliably and is issue-free. Any issues encountered are likely derived from a faulty configuration set up, or the server/client not running v+.

This system is working reliably and is issue-free. Any issues encountered are likely derived from a faulty configuration set up, or the server/client not running v+.

Configuration File

The Config file name is supposed to be "valheim_plus.cfg" and it needs to be placed in "BepInEx\config".

You can turn off and on every feature of V+ via the config file, by default all settings are turned off.

By default, the "BepInEx\config\valheim_plus.cfg" is created when you start your game or server the first time.

The configuration of a older version of Valheim Plus will automatically be updated to a newer version. Alternatively you can use this website .

When hosting a server, the server configuration file overwrites the client's configuration file on connect if you have the Server section and the serverSyncsConfig option enabled.

Only the server configuration file (located in the server files) needs to be set up when hosting a server with V+ by default.

When hosting for other players over steam, every player will need v+ and they will receive the local settings from the host's game folder.

Changelog

Notable changes to ValheimPlus, newest first. Each entry mirrors the patch notes from its GitHub release.

Releases before 0.10.0.0 targeted Valheim versions that are no longer compatible; see the release archive for those notes.

0.10.2.0 - Valheim 1.0.15 Compatibility and New Settings

Released 2026-09-19

Patch Notes

  • New FrigidKiln section, covering production speed, ice capacity, ice used per product, auto deposit and auto fuel for the Frigid Kiln.
  • New FrostFoundry section, covering production speed, Frozen Fuel capacity, fuel used per item, and auto fuel for the Frost Foundry.
  • New Building.noHeavySnowDamage and Building.noLavaDamage settings, which stop heavy snow and lava from damaging your structures.
  • New StructuralIntegrity.allowDismantlingOfBoatsAndCarts setting, which lets player-built boats and carts be dismantled with the hammer.
  • Oven settings now only affect the oven, instead of every fuel-burning cooking station.
  • Fixes Game.difficultyScaleRange shrinking the difficulty radius to 2 meters whenever the Game section was enabled. Its default is now 100, which matches the game.
  • Fixes Time.totalDayTimeInSeconds not taking effect on servers that sync their config, and not going back to the game's day length when the Time section is turned off.
  • Fixes errors on clients that have Map.shareMapProgression on while the server has it off.
  • Fixes the game hanging on Apple Silicon (arm64) when V+ re-applies its patches, such as after closing the settings window or joining a server.
  • Removes Map.shareAllPins, which has not done anything since the old V+ pin editor was retired.
  • Removes the V+ tutorial raven that appeared when spawning in.
  • Config sections are now listed alphabetically in the config file and in Configuration Manager.

Compatibility

  • ✅ - Valheim 1.0.15 (n-40) + BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2350 + ValheimPlus 0.10.2.0
  • ⛔️ - Anything else

Detailed Patch Notes

  • Frigid Kiln
    • The new FrigidKiln section has productionSpeed (default 30 seconds per Frozen Fuel), maximumIce (default 25), iceUsedPerProduct (default 5), plus autoDeposit, autoFuel, ignorePrivateAreaCheck and autoRange.
  • Frost Foundry
    • The new FrostFoundry section has productionSpeed (default 50 seconds per item), maximumFrozenFuel (default 20), frozenFuelUsedPerProduct (default 5), plus autoFuel, ignorePrivateAreaCheck and autoRange.
    • The Frost Foundry presents its item to the user to be interacted with, so there is no autoDeposit here.
  • Oven settings
    • Oven.infiniteFuel, Oven.autoFuel, Oven.autoRange and Oven.ignorePrivateAreaCheck applied to every cooking station that burns fuel, not just the oven. Each one is now matched by piece, so the oven's settings only touch ovens, and the Frost Foundry uses the new FrostFoundry section.
    • If you were using Oven.autoFuel or Oven.infiniteFuel to fuel something other than an oven, that no longer happens.
  • Heavy snow and lava damage
    • Valheim 1.0 added two new wear sources for structures: heavy snow, and standing in lava. Building.noWeatherDamage only covers rain and water erosion, so neither could be turned off.
    • Building.noHeavySnowDamage stops heavy snow from damaging structures, and also suppresses the damage puffs that went with it, so a structure that no longer takes the damage no longer shows it either.
    • Building.noLavaDamage stops lava from damaging structures, and removes the lava contribution to the Ashlands damage shader.
  • Dismantling boats and carts
    • StructuralIntegrity.allowDismantlingOfBoatsAndCarts lets you remove a player-built boat or cart with the hammer instead of having to destroy it.
    • A vehicle is only removable when nobody is aboard the boat, nobody is pulling the cart, and its cargo is empty. The game's own checks still apply, so no-build zones and wards work as they always have.
    • Only player-built vehicles qualify. Boats and carts that are part of the world are left alone.
  • Game.difficultyScaleRange
    • Enabling the Game section ran the configured range through a Math.Min(range, 2), so instead of using your setting the difficulty radius shrank to 2 meters and nearby players almost never counted. The setting is now used as written.
    • The default was 200, which did not match the game's 100. It is now 100, so enabling the section changes nothing on its own, and the setting is clamped to 1-20000.
  • Day length and server config sync
    • The day length was applied once, while EnvMan started up. On a server that syncs its config, that happened before the server's values arrived, so Time.totalDayTimeInSeconds was ignored. Turning the Time section off also left the previous value in place until the game was restarted.
    • The day length is now kept in step with the config while the game runs, and the game's own day length is restored when the Time section is off.
  • Map sharing
    • A client with Map.shareMapProgression on would send its map to a server that has map sharing off, and the server threw a NullReferenceException for every one of those messages. The server now ignores them.
    • Map data is still only sent on your first spawn, not on every death.
  • Re-applying patches
    • V+ rebuilds its patches whenever the settings change, for example when you close the settings window or join a server that syncs its config. That happens from inside a patched method, and re-patching rewrites methods in place, so the code was being swapped out from under a live call. On x64 that survived; on arm64 it hung the game.
    • The rebuild now runs on the next frame instead, once the call that triggered it has finished.
    • The ServerSync library that V+ bundles also has its own patches. Those are no longer torn out and re-applied along with the mod's, so a config package arriving from a server cannot pull out the transport that is delivering it.
  • Map.shareAllPins
    • The pin sharing UI it belonged to was retired long ago, and the code left behind never shared anything, whatever the setting was set to. The setting, its RPC and the leftover UI bundle are gone.
  • Tutorial raven
    • The V+ raven that popped up on spawn to ask for Patreon support has been removed.
  • Config file layout
    • Sections are now written in alphabetical order, both in the config file and in Configuration Manager, which makes them easier to find. Your existing values are unaffected.

0.10.1.2 - Bug Fixes

Released 2026-09-14

Patch Notes

  • Fixes auto-deposit dropping outputs on the ground right after you log in or arrive back to a base.
  • Fixes the AutoStack message showing the wrong number of items moved (or none at all) in some mod conflicts.
  • The Auto Stack message now also says how many chests couldn't be used because another player has them open.
  • Inventory.playerInventoryRows is now reset to 4 when "Equipment and Quick Slots" or "Extra Slots" is installed, since those mods add inventory rows themselves and clash with V+'s implementation.
  • V+ no longer applies patches when Inventory.playerInventoryRows is left at 4 and Inventory is enabled. This is to help mod compatibility with other mods that affect inventory size.
  • Fixes GridAlignment changing direction after each crop you plant with the Cultivator.
  • Fixes Procreation.pregnancyChanceMultiplier working backwards.
  • Fixes Procreation.ignoreAlerted not working.
  • Your own config values are now saved back to your config file when you leave a server.

Compatibility

  • ✅ - Valheim 1.0.12 (n-40) + BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2350 + ValheimPlus 0.10.1.2
  • ⛔️ - Anything else

Detailed Patch Notes

  • auto-deposit chest selection
    • In multiplayer, only one player's game runs a machine at a time. Auto deposit and auto fuel used to pick chests as if that player were opening them. So which chests counted depended on who was running the machine, and while your game was still loading in with no character yet, no chests counted at all.
    • Machines now pick chests the same way no matter whose game runs them. A chest counts if it isn't a personal chest and, when wards are checked, it isn't under a ward the machine is outside of.
    • This covers auto deposit for kilns, smelters, furnaces, windmills, spinning wheels, eitr refineries, beehives, fermenters, and sap collectors. It also covers auto fuel for those machines, plus fires, cooking stations, and shield generators.
  • Waiting for chests after loading
    • When you log in or come back to a base, machines finish the work they did while you were away almost immediately, often before the chests around them have finished loading. That output could be deleted.
      • This was avoided more or less by waiting for the player character to load (i.e. auto-deposit chest selection using your player's character), which likely gave the chests time to load as well.
    • Machines with auto deposit turned on now wait until the chests they could deposit into within range have loaded, then start as normal. This is checked once a second, and usually completes after the first second.
    • A machine gives up and starts anyway after 10 seconds, for example if a chest never finishes loading.
    • Chests a machine can't use, like personal chests and the treasure chests found around the world, aren't waited for. A machine with no usable chests in range starts right away.
    • This applies to kilns, smelters, furnaces, windmills, spinning wheels, eitr refineries, beehives, fermenters and sap collectors, and only when their autoDeposit setting is on. Nothing changes for machines with auto deposit off.
  • Auto Stack
    • Stack All into the chest you have open used to count the items moved by how much your inventory shrank. Some mods take a few of your items out of your inventory while Stack All runs and put them back right after. That threw the count off and could make it negative. The count now comes from how much the chest grew instead.
    • Only the player in charge of a chest knows for sure whether someone has it open. Everyone else sees a shared flag, and the game doesn't always clear it, for example when the player using the chest disconnects. Auto Stack used to trust that flag and skip the chest, even when nobody was using it anymore. It now asks the chest anyway, and the player in charge refuses only if the chest really is open.
    • When a chest refuses, the game doesn't say why. If the chest still shows as open at that moment, it's counted as in use. Otherwise it's counted as unavailable.
    • The message following an auto-stack shows how many items were moved and how many chests they went into, followed by how many chests were in use and how many were unavailable when either is above zero. Unavailable covers chests that refused for another reason, didn't answer within AutoStack.replyTimeout, changed hands before stacking, or couldn't be read.
  • Inventory row conflicts
    • Equipment and Quick Slots and Extra Slots both add their own rows to your inventory, and Inventory.playerInventoryRows conflicts with them. When either mod is installed, the Inventory section is enabled and playerInventoryRows is above 4, V+ resets it to 4 and logs a warning naming the mod.
    • This check runs once every mod has finished loading, so it doesn't depend on the order mods load in. It runs again whenever V+ re-applies its own patches.
  • Inventory.playerInventoryRows at 4
    • 4 is the game's normal row count. At that value V+ now leaves inventory size completely alone, even with the Inventory section enabled, so other inventory mods and the game's own row changes work as if V+ weren't touching it.
    • Previously, V+ still resized your inventory whenever the Inventory section was enabled, even when it asked for nothing beyond the default.
    • The setting's description was reworded to make clear it's a minimum. Your inventory uses this value or the rows the game gives you, whichever is larger, and lowering it never takes away rows the game has added.
  • Grid alignment when planting
    • Some pieces, like crops, get a random rotation each time you place one, so fields don't look uniform. The grid direction follows the placement rotation, so after every crop planted with grid alignment active, the grid turned to a new random direction.
    • While grid alignment is active, the rotation you picked is now kept after placing a piece and when the placement preview is rebuilt, for example after you run out of a seed. Rotating it yourself still works as normal.
    • With grid alignment off, crops still get their random rotation.
  • Procreation.pregnancyChanceMultiplier
    • The game's "pregnancy chance" is actually the chance a creature doesn't gain a love point. V+ was multiplying that directly, so the setting did the opposite of what it says. 100 made love points rarer (usually never gained at all), and -100 made them guaranteed.
    • The multiplier now applies to the chance of gaining a love point, as described. 100 doubles it (capped at always), and -100 stops creatures from gaining love points.
    • If you had set this to a negative value to work around the bug, flip it back.
  • Procreation.ignoreAlerted
    • The patch that lets tamed creatures breed while alerted read the wrong data from the creature, so the setting didn't work properly. It now checks the creature correctly, and creatures of the types in Procreation.animalTypes can breed while alerted.
  • Config file after leaving a server
    • When you join a server that syncs its config, its values replace yours while connected, and your own come back when you leave. Your config file is now saved again at that point, so it holds your own values rather than whatever was last written while connected.

0.10.1.1 - Bug Fixes

Released 2026-09-12

Patch Notes

  • Fixes Auto Stack deleting items and eventually stopping altogether when more than one player stacks into the same chests.
  • Fixes characters last saved before Valheim 1.0 losing the contents of the inventory rows added by Inventory.playerInventoryRows.
  • Replaces Player.baseUnarmedDamage, which could not be set to leave the game unchanged, with Player.unarmedDamageScale.

Behavior Changes

  • Player.baseUnarmedDamage is replaced by Player.unarmedDamageScale. The old setting replaced unarmed damage outright and reapplied the skill scaling the game already does, so no value of it left the game's own behavior intact. The new setting is a +/- percent modifier that defaults to 0, which changes nothing. 50 gives 50% more unarmed damage, -50 gives half. If you had baseUnarmedDamage set, it no longer does anything and the key can be removed.
  • Auto Stack no longer fills carts and ships. Craft From Chest still uses them as configured by CraftFromChest.allowCraftingFromCarts and allowCraftingFromShips.
  • Auto Stack skips chests another player currently has open, instead of stacking into them. The game does not support two players changing a chest at once.

Compatibility

  • ✅ - Valheim 1.0.12 (n-40) + BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2350 + ValheimPlus 0.10.1.1
  • ⛔️ - Anything else

Detailed Patch Notes

  • Auto Stack
    • In multiplayer, only one player's game is in charge of a chest at a time, and a chest only keeps what you put in it if you are the one in charge. Auto Stack used to start filling a chest before it was actually in charge of it, so the items left your inventory and the chest threw them away. It now waits its turn first, and leaves a chest alone if its turn never comes.
    • Auto Stack used to ask for one chest's turn at a time, waiting for that chest to answer before asking the next one. If a chest never answered, it waited forever, and Auto Stack quietly stopped working until you restarted the game. It now asks every chest for a turn at once and gives up on the ones that stay quiet for too long.
    • New AutoStack.replyTimeout setting, default 1 second. This is how long Auto Stack waits for a chest to answer, and then how long it waits for its turn with that chest. Nothing is stacked until the waiting is over, and both waits can happen on one press, so a chest that never answers leaves you standing there for up to twice this long before anything moves. Raise it if you play on a laggy server and Auto Stack keeps skipping chests, and lower it if it consistently completes quickly but sometimes has a hiccup.
    • The Stack All message now tells you how many items were moved, how many chests they went into, and how many chests could not be used.

0.10.0.3 - Bug fixes

Released 2026-09-11

Patch Notes

  • Adds support for Shudnal's Configuration Manager, alongside Configuration Manager.
  • Settings with limits now show as sliders in Configuration Managers.
  • Fixes game audio being quieter than it should be when the game's Mute game in background option is on.
  • Useful troubleshooting info is back in the log by default, so BepInEx/LogOutput.log is usually all that's needed when reporting a problem.
  • Probably a lot of things in the 0.10.0.0 release you haven't seen yet.

Compatibility

  • ✅ - Valheim 1.0.7 (n-39) + BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2350 + ValheimPlus 0.10.0.3
  • ⛔️ - Anything else

Detailed Patch Notes

  • Audio
    • With Mute game in background on, the master volume was applied twice when the game regained focus, making everything quieter.
  • Logging
    • Game and Valheim Plus versions, config loading and migration, Configuration Manager detection, and server sync are logged at Info again.
    • Each time patches are re-applied, such as after closing the settings window or joining a server, the log lists which settings changed and what they changed from.

0.10.0.2 - Inventory fix

Released 2026-09-10

  • Probably a lot of things in the 0.10.0.0 release you haven't seen yet.

Compatibility

0.10.0.1 - Server config sync fix

Released 2026-09-10

Patch Notes

  • Fixes server config sync-ing.
  • Updates the bundled BepInEx to 5.4.2350.
  • Probably a lot of things in the 0.10.0.0 release you haven't seen yet.

Compatibility

  • ✅ - Valheim 1.0.7 (n-39) + BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2350 + ValheimPlus 0.10.0.1
  • ⛔️ - Anything else

Detailed Patch Notes

  • Server config sync
    • A server sends its settings as you connect. The mod now reads them after they have arrived rather than just before, which is why most of them were being ignored. Only settings that are looked up as you play were working.
  • Bundled BepInEx
    • BepInExPack_Valheim is now 5.4.2350, which brings BepInEx 5.4.23.5.

0.10.0.0 - Valheim 1.0 Compatibility

Released 2026-09-10

Patch Notes

  • Compatibility with Valheim game version 1.0.7
  • Fixes for everything 1.0 broke, including map sync, craft from chest, area repair, guardian powers, and chest sizes.
  • Two new structural integrity settings, ice and timberwood, for the build materials 1.0 added.
  • Configuration now uses BepInEx, so settings can be edited in the main menu with Configuration Manager.
    • Your existing valheim_plus.cfg is imported automatically the first time you run this version.
    • Your old valheim_plus.cfg is then kept as valheim_plus.cfg.migrated. It is not deleted.
    • If you need to continue using the old file for automation purposes, put it back after the move and it will still be used.
      • In this case, settings will be read-only in Configuration Manager.
  • Keybinds, Hud options, and FOV are no longer sync-ed from the server. The local client settings are used instead.
  • Fixes beehives clearing nearby chests on zone load.

Behavior Changes

A few fixes changed behavior on purpose. Nothing here is a bug.

  • playerInventoryRows is now a minimum rather than a fixed size, and anything above 9 does nothing. Valheim 1.0 keeps inventory rows on your character and lets you buy more from a trader, so rows you earn in game are kept instead of being reset to your configured number. 9 is the game's own limit.
  • noWeatherDamage covers rain only. 1.0 added other kinds of weather damage that it does not cover. These may be added later, which may come with a rename of the setting.

Compatibility

  • ✅ - Valheim 1.0.7 (n-39) + BepInExPack_Valheim 5.4.2333 + ValheimPlus 0.10.0.0
  • ⛔️ - Anything else

Detailed Patch Notes

  • Compatibility fixes for 1.0.
