Tame the bird. Name the bird. Be the bird!

Use your bird to explore, transport, and even help you in combat. This mod also adds the sparrow, an agile small bird you can find in flocks in the meadows, forest, and plains.

Taming

Make a bird band from 2 leather scraps. You can tame a wild bird by using the band when you have the required food for it (5 pieces, at least 2 different). Find a bird you want to tame and use the band within 45m of it.

Your bird

Your bird can follow you wherever you go, either on your shoulder or flying freely around you. You can also command it to stay somewhere. Everything about your bird scales with your Bird Bond. With higher bond, you can fly for longer and unlock new skills (carrying, combat support, ...). Whenever you feed it or fly (or land) with it, you increase your bond.

Your bird will keep watch around you and alert you about enemies close by. Feed it from the bird's panel in your inventory.

Flying

The fully physics-based flying is different for each bird species (wind plays a role). The sparrow is agile, the gull is steady and fast, while the crow is a good mix. You can fly far over explored land, and even do a little bit of exploration in unknown land. The time and distance scale with Bird Bond.

Carrying and gear

From Bird Bond 35 the bird can carry things. You can put something directly into its inventory or pick things off of the ground (even harvest some plants). At level 95, your bird will be able to open chests. Now your bird and its little backpack can transport things for you!

From Bird Bond 50, the bird can wear gear that you create and upgrade at the forge: a buckler that can protect you from projectiles, talons to strike your enemies, and a leaf to collect berries autonomously and heal you. Each action will use some of the bird's strength, which recovers over time and with feeding.

Bird houses

At first you can only tame a single bird. When you build a small bird house, you can leave your bird there. With a large bird house, you can have three birds total. Birds left at the bird house will sometimes bring you some items from the land around it.
