Chest Upgrade Mod

Upgrade your chests in place instead of building new ones. Hover over a chest, press the upgrade key, and it turns into the next tier — same spot, same contents, no dragging items around.

How to use

1. Look at an eligible chest. The hover text shows the upgrade key and the materials you need, in green if you have enough and red if you don't.
2. Press U (default, configurable) to upgrade.
3. The chest is replaced in place; everything inside is kept.

Configuration

After first launch, edit BepInEx/config/yumi.valheim.chestupgrade.cfg:

• UpgradeKey — the key to press (default U)
• ShowHoverText — show/hide the upgrade info on hover (default true)
• WoodToReinforced / ReinforcedToBlackMetal — material costs, in the format ItemPrefabName:Amount,ItemPrefabName:Amount

Notes

• Runs client-side. Works fine in singleplayer or when everyone in your group has the mod installed.
• Requires BepInExPack Valheim.

• Upgrade chests in place with a hotkey: Wood -> Reinforced -> Black Metal, configurable material costs, hover text shows the key and live progress.
• Hammer replace: select any chest piece on the Hammer (any tier, up or down) and click on an existing chest to swap it in place at that piece's normal build cost — works even if the ghost shows "invalid placement".
• Downgrading refunds the old chest's own build materials on the ground, and any item that doesn't fit in the smaller chest's inventory drops next to it instead of being lost.
• EnableHotkeyUpgrade, EnableHammerReplace, RefundOnDowngrade, and ShowHoverText can each be toggled independently.
