BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured with the correct entry point for mods and preferred defaults for the community.

README

I vibe-coded this BepInEx plugin to let you 1) table-craft from nearby storage chests, 2) hammer-build from nearby storage chests, 3) send inventory materials to nearby storage chests, and 4) refuel fires and factory buildings from nearby storage chests. It works in singleplayer AND multiplayer. NOTHING is installed on the server. It should act like the vanilla game, except you are reaching out with very long arms; you'll even hear storage chests open/close in the distance lol.

You can tweak storage use in the config file:

  • Reduce storage access range (by default it's maxed at 64m, 3x more than crafting table range)
  • Change which storage containers are used (by default only regular chests, so items are protected in barrels, carts, ships, personal chests, etc)
  • Set a minimum protected quantity of each item in all containers (like wood:69 so you can always get some).

There are also a couple in-game storage reservation features: 1) put between 2-100 plain wood arrows in the top-right slot of a container to reserve that many of everything in the container, and 2) place just 1 wood arrow in the top-right to exclude the entire container from mod access.

Bonus feature: you can see how much of a crafting material is accessible in all nearby storage by mousing over the material icon in the crafting screen!

The "Store Nearby" button sends crafting materials from your inventory to the nearest chest with that material in it. Reserved things in your inventory include your gear, ammo, crafted food, potions, keys, and everything in your top hotbar. You can tweak the exact behavior in the config:

  • Rename the "Store Nearby" button. Non-English people can localize it, or you can completely delete the name to make it a cute square.
  • AlwaysKeep and AlwaysSend variables. For example, if you eat honey and blueberries and don't want them being sent away, add "honey, blueberries" to the AlwaysKeep variable.
  • KeepInventoryRows variable. Reserve more rows of your inventory starting from the top. Good if you are doing construction work and want to keep useful building materials on you.
  • KeepPortalMaterials and KeepStonePortalMaterials variables. These will keep enough materials to build a table and a portal, regardless of where the materials are in your inventory. No more getting stranded in the wild!

CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.3.0

  • Added storage refueling for stone ovens (Wood) and frost foundries (Liquid Frost), controlled by Smelter-class Non-Ore.
  • Added Store Nearby options for 1) keeping more rows reserved in inventory, and 2) for keeping portal materials reserved in inventory.
  • Added mouseover tooltips in crafting screens showing how much of each material is available nearby.
  • Multiple performance optimizations reducing a couple milliseconds of computation in tests
  • Added experimental feature (disabled by default) to gray out the Store Nearby button when nearby storage is still loading in during laggy multiplayer.

1.2.1

  • New defaults:
  • Enabled refueling with ore from storage (by default)
  • Extended default range of all features from 50 to 64

1.2.0

  • Basic wood arrows in a chest's top-right corner slot now change how the mod uses the chest: 1 arrow excludes the chest from being used at all, and 2-100 allows it to be used but doesn't allow any ingredient to be drawn below that number of arrows. Yes that's a little confusing, but it's good because it's reusing one irrelevant Vanilla game item to add features, rather than walking over the game code even more.
  • You can better choose which storage containers to use. Personal, Ships, Carts, Barrel, Wardrobe and Pots are excluded by default but you can type them into the allowed list. Forever excluded storage: World loot, salvage, gifts, Obliterator and other players' Personal Chests.
  • Refuel from Storage now has more options. Smelter-class Ore and the new Smelter-class Non-Ore are on by default for metal ore, metal scraps, Petrified Tissue, flax, barley, oats, oat seeds, and soft tissue.
  • Store Nearby now completes multiple placements across synchronous container saves. This may or may not work or sound insane.
  • List of storage variable names that you can add into the ContainerTypes setting to allow the mod to use them:
Group Storage / approved prefab IDs
chests piece_chest_wood, piece_chest, piece_chest_blackmetal, piece_chest_grausten
personal piece_chest_private (your own personal chest, nobody else's)
ships Karve, VikingShip, VikingShip_Ashlands
carts Cart, Sled
barrel piece_chest_barrel
wardrobe piece_chest_warderobe
pots piece_pot1, piece_pot1_red, piece_pot1_cracked, piece_pot2, piece_pot2_red, piece_pot2_cracked, piece_pot3, piece_pot3_red, piece_pot3_cracked

1.1.0

  • Store Nearby upgraded to use more a advanced item list system to hopefully prevent mis-categorized items (onions and most boss drop trash now send to storage). Config file format changed; automatic migration script will apply on first run.
  • Store Nearby now places stacks in vanilla's item-dependent row order, filling materials bottom-first (why vanilla does that, I have no idea lol).
  • Refuel from Storage added: pressing E on a fireplace, torch, sconce, smelter, furnace, kiln, etc, will add the proper fuel from nearby storage. The refueling messages on the screen are kind of inconsistent English, but I copied them from Valheim's defaults anyway to appear vanilla.
  • Refuel from Storage has three options: Fireplace Fuel and Smelter Fuel (on by default; kiln wood counts as fuel), and Smelter Ore for ore, barley, flax, and soft tissue (off by default). Its Distance defaults to 50 m like the other features.

1.0.0

  • I hope this works! HOLD ONTO YOUR BUTTS!!!
