This mod requires the following mods to function
denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim
BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured with the correct entry point for mods and preferred defaults for the community.
Preferred version: 5.4.2351MysixValheimMods-MySix_Core
Needed by every other MySix mod. Adds the mysix console command to see and change settings in game, keeps settings in the world save so a world plays the same on any computer or server, and gives dedicated servers restarts that warn everyone first.
Preferred version: 1.0.17README
MySix NearbyChests
Materials in containers standing near a crafting station count towards what you craft and upgrade there.
- Range: within 10 metres by default, and configurable.
- The nearest chest is emptied first.
- Connection beams: the station draws its own beam to each container it took from, so you can see what is linked.
- The building hammer is deliberately unaffected: it still takes everything from your own pack.
Part of the MySix mod suite. Every mod in the suite needs MySix Core, which adds the
in-game mysix command for reading and changing settings. On a server, settings are owned by
the server: an admin changes a value once and every connected player picks it up.
Installing
Install with a mod manager - the Thunderstore Mod Manager, Gale and r2modman all work - or unzip
the DLL into BepInEx/plugins yourself. Everyone playing together should run the same versions.
Settings
Changing a setting in game
- Press F5 to open the console. If nothing opens, add
-consoleto Valheim's launch options (in Steam: right-click Valheim, Properties, Launch Options) and start the game again. - Type one of these and press Enter:
mysixlists every MySix setting with its current value.mysix get <setting>shows one setting: its value, its choices, its default and what it does.mysix set <setting> <value>changes it.
Setting names and values are not case sensitive, and a change is saved at once and kept.
Who can change what
- Server settings belong to the world. On a dedicated server, a server admin (someone listed in
the server's
adminlist.txt) types themysix setcommand in their own console while connected, and it changes for every player at once; anyone else is told they must be an admin. In a world you host yourself, you change it. - Player settings are each player's own: type the command in your own game, and it changes only for you.
This mod's settings
| Setting | Who | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
NearbyChests.Enabled |
Server | true or false | true |
Crafting and upgrading at a station also uses materials from containers near it. Building with the hammer always uses your own inventory. |
NearbyChests.Range |
Server | a number of metres | 10 |
How far a container may stand from the crafting station. Large values cost a little performance while the crafting menu is open. |
NearbyChests.ShowConnection |
Player | true or false | true |
While the crafting window is open, draw a beam from the station to every container it can draw from, so you can see which chests count. |
For example, to change each one:
mysix set NearbyChests.Enabled false
mysix set NearbyChests.Range 20
mysix set NearbyChests.ShowConnection false
In the config file: BepInEx/config/com.mysix.nearbychests.cfg, under [NearbyChests]: Enabled, Range, ShowConnection.
Changing a setting in the config file instead
Every setting is also in a config file, in BepInEx/config/ (your mod manager's Config editor
opens the same file). Change it while the game is closed. For a server setting on a dedicated
server, edit the server's own copy of the file and restart the server.
Languages
Every MySix mod supports all the languages Valheim offers: whatever language you play the game in, the text these mods show is in that language too. Abenaki is the one exception for now - there it shows in English, as we could not find a translation we trust. We mainly test in English, but we will do our best to support every language the game supports; if something reads wrong in yours, please let us know.
Note on achievements
Valheim switches achievements off for anyone with a mod installed. MySix Mods Not Cheating, part of the MySix bundle, keeps them working.
Version 1.0.12. The Changelog tab lists what changed in each release.
CHANGELOG
Changelog - Nearby Chests
What changed in Nearby Chests, newest release first. Each MySix mod has its own version number, and only a release that changed Nearby Chests is listed here.
1.0.10
- Every language the game offers. All the text the MySix mods show - item names, descriptions and messages - now follows the language you play Valheim in, using the game's own words for things like the armour stand, block and inventory. Abenaki shows English for now, as we could not find a translation we trust. We mainly test in English but will do our best to support every language the game supports.
1.0.3
- The connection beam actually shows. It was a single three-second flash fired at the moment of the craft, while you are looking at the crafting panel rather than at the chest, and its near end sat at the chest's base - inside the ground. There is now a beam to every chest the station can draw from, up for as long as the crafting window is open, starting from the middle of the chest. Note the game itself closes the crafting window about two metres from a station, which takes the links with it.
1.0.2
- New: first release. Crafting and upgrading at a station also use the materials in chests standing nearby, 10 metres by default. The building hammer is deliberately unaffected. Materials are put back if the craft does not go through, so a refused craft cannot leave a chest emptied for nothing.
