This mod requires the following mods to function
denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim
BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured with the correct entry point for mods and preferred defaults for the community.
Preferred version: 5.4.2351MysixValheimMods-MySix_Core
Needed by every other MySix mod. Adds the mysix console command to see and change settings in game, keeps settings in the world save so a world plays the same on any computer or server, and gives dedicated servers restarts that warn everyone first.
Preferred version: 1.0.17README
MySix Nearby Chests
Crafting only uses what you carry, so every craft or upgrade means emptying chests into your pack first and putting the rest back afterwards. With this mod, materials in chests standing near a crafting station count as if you were carrying them: recipes show as craftable, and when you craft or upgrade, the station uses what you carry first and takes only what you are short from those chests.
- Range: chests within 10 metres of the station count (the default;
NearbyChests.Rangechanges it). - The nearest chest is emptied first.
- Only chests you could open yourself: never someone else's private chest, one inside a ward you are not permitted on, or one another player has open. Carts and ships do not count.
- Connection beams: while the crafting window is open, the station draws its own beam to every container it can use, so you can see which chests count.
- The building hammer is deliberately unaffected: it still takes everything from your own pack.
- Room in your pack: what you are short is moved into your inventory just before the craft, so it needs room there. If it does not fit, the craft is called off with a message and everything goes back into the chests, as it does whenever a craft does not go through.
Part of the MySix mod suite. Every mod in the suite needs MySix Core, which adds the
in-game mysix command for reading and changing settings. Settings are kept in the world itself,
so a world plays the same on any computer or server: a setting for everyone is changed once, by the
host or a server admin, and each player's own choices are kept in the world for that player.
Installing
Install with a mod manager - the Thunderstore Mod Manager, Gale and r2modman all work - and it
fetches BepInEx and MySix Core for you. To install by hand, install BepInExPack_Valheim first, then
unzip the DLL of MySix Core and of each MySix mod you want into BepInEx/plugins. Everyone
playing together should run the same versions.
Settings
The Settings wiki page lists this mod's 3 settings: what each does, its choices and default, who can change it, and the exact command to type. In short: press F5 in game to open the console (if nothing opens, add -console to Valheim's launch options) and type mysix to list every setting, mysix set <setting> <value> to change one.
Languages
What the MySix mods show you in play - the names and descriptions of their items and portals,
their messages on screen, and the Cartographer's map tab and marks - is in the language you play
Valheim in, in every language the game offers except Abenaki, which shows English for now as we
could not find a translation we trust. The mysix console command, the setting descriptions it
prints, the Settings wiki pages and the warnings before a server restart are in English only. We
mainly test in English; if something reads wrong in your language, please let us know.
Note on achievements
Valheim switches achievements off for anyone with a mod installed. MySix Mods Not Cheating, part of the MySix bundle, keeps them working.
Version 1.0.15. The Changelog tab lists what changed in each release.
CHANGELOG
Changelog - Nearby Chests
What changed in Nearby Chests, newest release first. Each MySix mod has its own version number, and only a release that changed Nearby Chests is listed here.
1.0.10
- Every language the game offers. All the text the MySix mods show - item names, descriptions and messages - now follows the language you play Valheim in, using the game's own words for things like the armour stand, block and inventory. Abenaki shows English for now, as we could not find a translation we trust. We mainly test in English but will do our best to support every language the game supports.
1.0.3
- The connection beam actually shows. It was a single three-second flash fired at the moment of the craft, while you are looking at the crafting panel rather than at the chest, and its near end sat at the chest's base - inside the ground. There is now a beam to every chest the station can draw from, up for as long as the crafting window is open, starting from the middle of the chest. Note the game itself closes the crafting window about two metres from a station, which takes the links with it.
1.0.2
- New: first release. Crafting and upgrading at a station also use the materials in chests standing nearby, 10 metres by default. The building hammer is deliberately unaffected. Materials are put back if the craft does not go through, so a refused craft cannot leave a chest emptied for nothing.
