SaunaMod

Finally, a proper Viking sauna in Valheim.

SaunaMod adds a functional sauna mechanic. Build the stove, heat the stones, throw on some water and have a proper sauna before your next adventure. Time spent in the steam gives temporary benefits aimed at exploration and everyday life, while traditional bathhouse items improve the sauna as you progress through the biomes. The effects focus on recovery and the environment rather than combat.

In multiplayer, the sauna gives the crew a reason to gather from time to time, steam together and prepare for the next expedition.

What the mod adds

Sauna Stove

A stone sauna stove built from Valheim’s own assets. Feed it with wood, let the stones heat up and pour water over them. Steam spreads through the room and gathers under a roof. Stay in the steam long enough and you leave Well Steamed, carrying the warmth with you.

Sauna Upgrades

Upgrades use materials from later biomes and extend what the sauna can do.

Sauna whisks help you steam properly, make being wet less troublesome and unlock longer warming.

Sauna bucket with ladle lets you throw more water on the stones and infuse the steam with resistance mead, sharing its effects through the sauna.

Both upgrades also increase sauna comfort near a burning stove in a sheltered room. More upgrades tied to later biomes are planned as the mod continues to develop.

Multiplayer

Everyone must have the mod installed, including the dedicated server, and use the same version. Sauna mechanics and configuration are synchronized between the server and clients.

Installation

Install SaunaMod through Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman to have the required dependencies installed automatically.

For a manual installation, place the contents of the plugins folder in BepInEx/plugins/SaunaMod/ and keep the icons and sounds folders next to SaunaMod.dll.

Requires BepInEx and Jotunn.

Notes

SaunaMod is built almost entirely from assets already present in Valheim. The stove and bathhouse items are assembled from vanilla pieces at runtime.

The mod creates its own configuration file in BepInEx/config/, where gameplay, effects and steam behaviour can be tweaked. It also includes an optional lightweight in-game editor for tuning and testing, opened with F7 when enabled.

• Added Sauna whisks, a new buildable sauna upgrade made from 5 Fine Wood and 1 Bronze Nail
