This mod requires the following mods to function
denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim
BepInEx pack for Valheim. Preconfigured with the correct entry point for mods and preferred defaults for the community.
Preferred version: 5.4.2350README
Quick Teleport 2
Fast, reliable portal and dungeon transitions for Valheim. Install it and play: the recommended defaults are ready to use.
Compatible with Valheim 1.0 Deep North update.
Some portal loadings can be slow until the destination is fully ready, especially on remote servers or around large builds. Quick Teleport makes transitions faster and more reliable by waiting for the screen to fade, letting Valheim move your character, and giving portal destinations a brief chance to finish arriving before the screen clears.
Still want to make it even faster? The mod has options to tweak the fade and arrival safety for portals and dungeons, so you can make your own trade-off between speed and reliability.
What changed in 2.0
Quick Teleport now follows Valheim's current teleport sequence instead of changing legacy timing directly. It waits for the screen to fade, lets Valheim move your character, and gives portal destinations a brief chance to finish arriving before the screen clears. This makes fast travel more reliable on remote servers and around large builds.
Portals and dungeons have their own settings. Dungeons stay fast by default; portals get a small safety delay to reduce buildings, terrain, or creatures appearing late.

Install
Recommended: install with Gale. Gale can use both the Hexium and Thunderstore catalogs and imports existing profiles on startup. Use Gale for Hexium releases; r2modman and Thunderstore Mod Manager do not support the Hexium catalog.
Manual: install BepInExPack for Valheim, then place QuickTeleport.dll in Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/.
Quick setup
Most players should leave the defaults unchanged. To open an in-game config menu, optionally install BepInEx Configuration Manager and press F1.
The config file is BepInEx/config/elg.QuickTeleport.cfg.
| If you want to… | Change this setting |
|---|---|
| Turn the mod off | General / Enable Quick Teleport → Off (Default On) |
| Keep normal portal timing | Portals / Enable Faster Portals → Off (Default On) |
| Keep normal dungeon timing | Dungeons / Enable Faster Dungeons → Off (Default On) |
| Use a quicker fade | Set Portal Fade Time or Dungeon Fade Time between 0 and 2 seconds |
| Make a portal slightly more cautious | Raise Portals / Portal Load Safety Delay above its default 0.50 seconds |
| Troubleshoot one teleport | Turn on General / Enable Teleport Diagnostics, reproduce the issue, then check the BepInEx log |
| Make close portal teleports instant (use with caution) | Reduce Portals / Portal Load Safety Delay to 0 as explained below |
| Make distant portal teleports instant (use with caution) | Change Safety / Arrival Safety, as explained below |
Portal Load Safety Delay
Portals / Portal Load Safety Delay (default 0.50s, range 0–5s) is not a loading wait. It is a short settling window that starts only after the destination has finished loading and stays stable — extra insurance against objects rearranging themselves right as you arrive.
- Raising it makes arrival more cautious; useful if remote bases or busy portals still appear to "shuffle" or pop in as you land.
- Setting it to 0 is safe in the sense that it never skips loading — terrain and objects still load first under Full World, and the game itself is never overridden. You simply accept the first frame the destination reports ready, so on an active destination (many players, carts, ongoing building) objects can still change right after you appear.
- Dungeons have their own
Dungeon Load Safety Delay, which defaults to 0 because dungeon interiors are small and load almost instantly.
No setting here risks save corruption or server instability; the trade-off is purely between arrival speed and how polished the landing looks.
Arrival Safety
Safety / Arrival Safety decides how much of the destination must load before the teleport ends. Whatever you pick, QuickTeleport never lets a teleport finish before Valheim has physically moved your character, and a destination Valheim itself reports as unready stays unready (Immediate excepted).
- Full World (
FullWorld) — recommended: waits for terrain, nearby objects, and a stable set of destination objects (buildings, creatures, items) before the screen clears.- Gain: nothing pops in late; you land in a world that is actually there. Safest for busy or built-up destinations.
- Risk/cost: the wait is longest on large, remote, or heavily built destinations, because Valheim must stream in terrain and objects first. This waiting is engine loading, not something the mod can skip.
- Terrain Only (
TerrainOnly): only requires the terrain zone to be loaded; object instances (buildings, chests, enemies) may still stream in after you arrive.- Gain: noticeably faster arrival at big bases or far-away portals.
- Risk: you can briefly stand on floors or walk past walls that have no colliders yet, see objects pop in, or be attacked by creatures whose objects are still loading. On a busy server this can look like brief desync. Worst case it still falls back to vanilla timing after 8 seconds — it never becomes slower than the unmodded game.
- Immediate: completes as soon as the move happens, with no readiness check at all.
- Gain: the absolute fastest possible transition.
- Risk: you can land in unloaded terrain and fall through the world or take fall damage before the zone exists. Only use this if you accept occasional bad landings; it is not recommended for hardcore characters.
Server owners
Everything is local by default; a server does not need the mod unless it wants to enforce settings. To use one set of gameplay settings for everyone, install the same package on the server and set General / Force Server Config to On in BepInEx/config/elg.QuickTeleport.cfg. Save changes to that file to reload and synchronize them while the server is running. Diagnostics always stay local.
A server using QuickTeleport 2.0 requires QuickTeleport 2.0 for players who use the mod, so synchronized settings and teleport behavior match.
Compatibility
Quick Teleport preserves Valheim's normal respawn and destination-readiness behavior.
| Compatible | Mod | How they work together |
|---|---|---|
| Yes | TargetPortal | TargetPortal keeps choosing the destination; Quick Teleport then applies its fade and arrival safety to that portal. |
| Yes | TeleportEverything | Its item, cart, and creature teleport rules keep working; Quick Teleport only shortens the transition timing. |
| Yes | TeleportCarts | Carts teleport with you as configured; Quick Teleport only shortens the transition timing. |
| Yes | TeleportCreatures | Tamed creatures follow you as configured; Quick Teleport only shortens the transition timing. |
| Yes | Basements | Instant basement teleport. |
| Yes | OdinsUndercroft | Instant undercroft teleport. |
| No | FastTeleport | Conflicting mod that patches the same teleport timing. |
Incompatible
| Mod | Why |
|---|---|
| FastTeleport (GemHunter1) | Patches the same teleport timing; the two mods fight over the same sequence. QuickTeleport logs an error at startup if it is installed — remove one of them. |
| QuickTeleport (Muindor) | An older quick-teleport rewrite with the same purpose; running both is undefined. QuickTeleport logs an error at startup if it is installed — remove one of them. |
