Adaptive ProgressionDynamic CombatPerformance Optimized

Savheim is a passionately curated Valheim overhaul, delivering a completely fresh, evolved adventure while preserving the core beauty of the game. Matured and polished over years of development and four seasons of dedicated server playthroughs, this comprehensive augmentation is finally opening to the public on Thunderstore and Hexium.

✨ Core Pillars

  • 🗺️ Unbound Exploration: Brave biomes in any order after Black Forest. Difficulty and crafting scale dynamically based on boss kills with seamless multiplayer scaling.
  • 💥 Elemental Reactions: Mixing elemental statuses triggers explosive chain reactions affecting players and enemies, altering how you fight and gear up.
  • 🏡 Elevated Building: Build without limits using unlocked base-game pieces, free rotation, precision placement, and cozy clutter—all backed by deep performance optimizations and custom wards.
  • ⚔️ Combat Redesign: Enhanced, responsive combat with new mechanics for all armaments and 7 entirely new weapon classes. Vastly expanded build variety, including tanking with taunts.
  • 🔮 Early Magic: Magic starts in the Black Forest. Progress as a dedicated spellcaster, healer, or a necromancer commanding a custom summoning system.
  • 🏆 Quest Artifacts: Bosses guard unique armaments. Embark on custom quests to unlock their gameplay-defining power.
  • 🌲 Expanded Sandbox: Ocean and more are integrated into your journey. Enjoy new biome armor tiers and elevated food mechanics.
  • 🚀 Performance: Built for speed. Savheim runs smoother and faster than unmodded Valheim via custom scripts and optimizations, including multiplayer.
  • 📖 In-Game Discovery: No wikis required. All new mechanics and features are uncovered and explained organically as you play.

Forget what you know. Start a fresh adventure with new surprises at every turn. Join Savheim.

Important Information

  • Savheim is intended for fresh characters only. Please create a new character before joining the adventure.
  • DO NOT LOAD SAVHEIM ON EXISTING WORLDS YOU CARE ABOUT. Make a fresh world after installing this modpack. It takes a while, but you only need to wait once when you first make a new world - please be patient.
  • Savheim has been passionately developed over years by humans. AI was used only for minor wordsmithing and a bit of help generating some icons.

Additional Info and Tips

The following are taken from Savheim's in-game loading screen tips, posted here for those wanting to know more of what's included, or for those looking for clues.

Savheim Info & Tips

⚔️ Overhauled Combat & Mechanics

  • Weapon Reworks: All weapon classes have been majorly reworked in Savheim to give them unique and improved playstyles. Give them all another swing, even if you decided against them last playthrough!
  • Secondary Effects & Debuffs: Most weapon classes offer some form of debuff or secondary damage in Savheim. Different creatures are susceptible to these in unique ways. Experiment to find viable strategies!
  • Elemental Reactions: Pairs of elemental statuses react in Savheim, producing unique mechanics that affect players and creatures. Study well how different elements react with each other—most include a brief hidden cooldown before they can affect the same target again.
  • Defense Mechanics: Block Armor = amount you can block. [Block Armor * Parry Bonus] = amount you can parry. Block Force does nothing in Savheim, and magical barriers grant infinite parry stats while active.
  • Shield Counter: Immediately after absorbing an attack (not a parry) with any shield, you can perform a high-damage, adrenaline-boosting Shield Counter with any one-handed weapon. The higher your block ability, the better you'll stay in range.
  • Parrying & Stagger: Some creatures don't stagger when parried in Savheim. This doesn't mean they're immune to other mechanics though, like Shield Counter, Bleed, and more.
  • Bleed Scaling: Bleed effects do greater damage per tick based on the victim's maximum health. Bleeds can be stacked for increased damage per tick, extending the duration based on your weapon. Some creatures don't bleed!
  • Resistance Debuffs: Resistance debuffs are ineffective against creatures that are naturally resistant to the damage type in question.
  • Evolved Enemies: Some creatures have learned to dual wield for increased offense and parry resistance, use shields for improved defense, or use magic for... magic.
  • Dodge Keybind: L-Alt dodges (double-tap for normal roll). You can rebind this in ...\BepInEx\config\Searica.Valheim.DodgeShortcut.cfg.
  • Harpoon Mechanics: Harpoons have gained a basic secondary attack. Primary attacks tether, then the Use key reels in the target if it's lighter than you. If it's heavier... try harpooning a distant tree and pressing E!

🌍 World, Progression & Scaling

  • World Difficulty Scaling: Slay a boss to freeze its biome's difficulty and scale up all unconquered zones. Doing so unlocks new crafting, stronger secondary attacks, and upgraded summons. In multiplayer, enemy threat and player power scale to the strongest nearby player.
  • Non-Linear Exploration: Zones can be explored in any order after the Black Forest. Enemy strength will increase as you defeat bosses and adjust depending on your travel companions. Say !zones in chat to see your journey and local difficulty.
  • Distance & Danger: The world gets more dangerous the further from the center you travel. Those who venture far return wealthy... if they return at all.
  • Safe Haven: Meadows will always remain relatively peaceful, regardless of your progress through the game. The same cannot be said for anywhere else in the world.
  • Forsaken Powers: Forsaken powers have been reworked to be much more impactful and engaging in Savheim. You must kill each boss to wield their power. Unique rewards await those who seek deeper altars to offer Forsaken trophies.
  • Temperature & Freezing: Bare skin and metal armor stay frozen the longest, then leather, then cloth. Helmet, chest, and leg slots are calculated independently. Bring a Torch for the cold—they protect from Cold/Freezing, last longer, and terrify bears!
  • Biome Tweaks: The Mountains are more forgiving in Savheim unless you're caught in a snowstorm. Bring a Torch.
  • Floating Islands: Have you solved the riddle of the Floating Islands yet? Time waits for no Viking.

🔨 Crafting, Gear & Survival

  • New Progression Path: Crafting benches and their associated upgrades have been repurposed and moved around. Don't worry if you're not seeing the progression you're used to—kill bosses, check tooltips, and make a Wisp Fountain as soon as possible!
  • Unique Items: Unique items are meant to be found, not crafted. The strange, seemingly impossible recipes to craft them are a necessary configuration to allow repairing and upgrading. Please ignore the base crafting recipes!
  • Weapon & Gear Tooltips: Lots of important information has been added to item tooltips. Pay close attention to weapon tooltips, check your Hammer for new ways to build, and take a close look at Wards, Ships, and more.
  • The Oven: The Oven can be used to roast some raw meats and vegetables in Savheim, yielding empowering results.
  • Diving & Swimming: You've learned to dive underwater by pointing down and pressing Crouch! Swimming consumes less stamina as you level it up. Go swimming to see what you discover!
  • Necromancy: Unlock the dark art of necromancy by studying spirit, water, and the undead. Chain its power with iron, then seek mastery through silver.
  • Healing Magic: If you wish to mend the wounds of your allies, look to those shrouded lands where the fog hangs thick and ancient growth thrives in the dark.
  • Farming Everywhere: You can grow crops in any biome in Savheim. If you plan to farm in extreme temperatures, visit the Mistlands to learn how to craft a Shield Generator.
  • Bees & Happiness: Bees can find happiness in all zones in Savheim, but different environments can alter their chemistry, resulting in unexpected outputs.
  • Medium Armor Benefit: Stamina drain while sneaking can be paused by wearing a full set of medium armor. Most biomes offer distinct sets of light, medium, and heavy armor, all with unique set bonuses and appearances.
  • Arrow Fletchings: Most arrows and bolts have a small chance to leave behind reusable fletchings. Wood arrows can be crafted by hand, but they do less damage and don't leave fletchings behind.

💡 Handy Commands & Utility

  • Player Commands: Type !help in chat for commands, !zones to check local area difficulty, and !roll for a random 1-100 roll.
  • Transmog System: Customize your looks! Click the Transmog button (looks like a t-shirt) under your equipped gear slots.
  • Fast Travel Paths: Travel faster on paths and roads. Floors built over these smooth foundations gain the same speed bonuses.
  • Fast Chest Stacking: Hold E while opening a chest to automatically deposit matching item stacks from your inventory into the chest.
  • Sign & Portal Text Colors: Type <color=red> or <color=#FF0000> before text on signs to change color. Use multiple tags for rainbow text!
  • Raven Hints: Mugin doesn't have any new advice for Savheim, so you can disable Raven Hints in options if you prefer.
  • Map Portals: Press P to toggle portal display on your minimap and world map.
  • Death and Respawn: You keep most player-crafted or useable items when dying (though skills lose experience). Right-click your armor and gear to re-equip it after respawning.
  • Inventory Search: Use the Search fields in the Craft and Index tabs to find recipes and items quickly.
  • Production Speeds: Production units, like Smelters, Bees, and more, have been configured to hold more reagents but take longer to process each unit. Fill them up and go adventuring!

Server Owner Information

Server Owners

A different subset of mods are needed for singleplayer, a dedicated server, or a client connecting to a dedicated server. Singleplayer should use this Savheim V Full modpack exactly as is with all mods, but a dedicated server does not need all mods included in this modpack.

  • Have your clients use the Savheim V Client modpack
    • You must instruct them to edit BepInEx/config/Azumatt.FastLink_servers.yml to point to your server instead of the official Savheim V dev server!
  • On your dedicated server, load all mods from this Savheim V Full modpack, except for the following:
    • Client-Side-Only mods - do not put on dedicated server
      • Azumatt-MyPitsDontLeak
      • Azumatt-SaveCrossbowState
      • ComfyMods-BetterZeeLog
      • ComfyMods-Intermission
      • JereKuusela-Render_Limits
      • JereKuusela-Smoke_Collision
      • MSchmoecker-HammerTime
      • MSchmoecker-VNEI
      • Searica-DodgeShortcut
      • VentureValheim-Asocial_Cartography
      • VentureValheim-No_Damage_Flash
  • Load all configs to the server.
  • Your server host likely has a method of setting yourself as admin. This is useful if you want to add admin mods to your own client, like Upgrade_World, World_Edit_Commands, ServerDevCommands, or similar.
  • You also want to set yourself as admin within Savheim configs. This grants access to a couple admin-only in-game commands (say !help in game), and you'll receive a unique transmog cloak at each character's first login as a badge to prove your admin status (or just to look cool). Do not skip the Valkyrie intro if you want the cloak!
    • On your server, find BepInEx/config/data/data_SH.yaml and open it. Toward the top, find the Savheim Admin List comment block and the vSavheimAdmins valueGroup below it. Add your Steam ID and save the file.
    • Optional - There's also a vSavheimTesters valueGroup below that. If you add VIP Steam IDs to this list, they'll receive a different unique transmog cloak at first login, but only if they do not skip the Valkyrie intro - tell them not to skip!
  • Recommended World Modifier - Player Based Raids
    • Since Savheim lets players kill bosses in any order, other players might experience mismatched raid difficulty without this setting enabled.
  • Cron Jobs
    • This modpack comes with configs for Cron_Jobs, but not the mod itself, since it doesn't make sense singleplayer or client-side. Very highly recommended that you install the Cron_Jobs mod on your server!
    • Study and tailor to your liking and timezone: BepInEx/config/cron.yaml. Documentation.
    • If your server host supports scheduled resets, it's recommended you schedule these in coordination with your cron schedule. The current cron.yaml config is set up to work well with a daily 4:55am PDT scheduled server reset, for example.
