README

LudvigValheim 1.4.0

A fan-made Valheim companion mod. Ludvig can follow players, gather resources, hunt, work as a nervous combat companion and go on expeditions.

1.3 highlights

Spoken dialogue is audio-only. The E menu includes a silent-mode toggle. Resource availability follows world boss progression where the corresponding global keys are available. Higher-tier ore has higher prices, longer expeditions and longer cooldowns. In co-op, remote players send presence updates to the host so Ludvig can return toward the player who ordered the job.

Hunting includes deer, boar, neck, wolf, lox and hare, plus an expensive trophy option. Wood jobs use a wider fallback when trees are sparse.

IL Tempo Gigante

The mod includes a compatibility hook rather than bundling another mod's vehicle. If an active nearby GameObject contains both Tempo and Gigante in its name, the menu can start a paid adventure. Ludvig departs with the vehicle as the departure anchor and later returns with a random progression-appropriate resource. Exact seated/driving animation depends on the vehicle mod exposing a seat/vehicle API; this package does not redistribute or modify that vehicle.

Multiplayer

All players should use the same version. The host remains authoritative for Ludvig state/jobs. Voice is synchronized, and requesting clients report their current position so job return/follow behavior can target the requester.

Build

Run BYGG_FOR_THUNDERSTORE.cmd. Paths are preconfigured for the development machine used for this project. The built upload package is placed in dist.

Tempo Gigante vehicle (1.4.0)

Ludvig now owns a physical in-world inventor racer inspired by the Tempo Gigante idea. The vehicle is generated by the plugin itself (no separate vehicle mod required), with brass/copper bodywork, red wheels, exposed mechanical details, working night headlights, exhaust smoke, a driver seat, animated wheels and steering. The Tempo adventure job makes Ludvig mount the car, drive away, disappear during the long expedition, then physically drive back before delivering the random progression-appropriate cargo.

CHANGELOG

  • Litt sterkere dialog og full lydstyrke over større næravstand.

  • Førersete og to passasjerplasser, bagasjerom bare bak, nettverksstyrte seter.

2.0.3 — development build

  • Preserve goods recipient while allowing Follow/Wait during delivery.
  • Add explicit recovery of jobs from a previous offline local character.
  • Route carried wood toward the requester instead of the server host.
  • Rebuild the vehicle from native chest networking and inventory, with fresh instance-owned graphics and body synchronization.
  • Recover wood jobs from wet/unreachable logs without creating synthetic wood.
  • Add recordings 106–165; 205 total WAV files including existing clips.
  • Add an optional mouse-driven panel restricted to the configured test world.

2.0.1 — development build

  • Replace the old whole-body bounce with blended weighted Blender locomotion, slower walking and blink.
  • Show the 80-coin price on every specific trophy choice; each trophy job returns one item.
  • Use stable requester character identity and acknowledged remote inventory delivery.
  • Add boss-gated ore jobs capped at six items.
  • Remove NPC car expeditions; add player-built driveable racer with a 24-slot native container and a buildable Ludvig hut.
  • Block gameplay input/camera capture during dialogue.
  • Include all 105 uploaded voice clips alongside the existing 40 recordings.
  • Include editable Blender rig and Unity project; Unity-editor build remains unverified.

1.4.5

  • Fix schema 4 saves rejected by schema 3-only validation.
  • Preserve legacy recruitment/location/cargo; persist explicit expedition fields with schema 5.
  • Verify Unity JSON round-trip before replacing saves; add migration regression tests.

1.4.4

  • Reference-guided green hat, pale fur, pink nose and thicker red scarf.
  • Brass racer with green body panels, smooth fenders, red rims and rear turbine ducts.
  • Correct limb and eye animation groups; seated driver pose.
  • Weld geometry and batch car meshes by material; retain 1.4.3 fallback/cleanup fixes.

Changelog

1.4.2

  • Tempo Gigante shader hotfix for Valheim builds where Shader.Find("Standard") returns null.
  • Added Valheim shader/material fallbacks.
  • Car creation is isolated so Ludvig still spawns if the car cannot be rendered.

1.3.0

  • Spoken Ludvig dialogue is now audio-only; normal speech no longer draws subtitles/HUD text.
  • Added silent mode for idle chatter.
  • Added progression-aware resource jobs: copper, tin, iron, silver, black metal and flametal where available.
  • Higher-tier ore jobs cost more, take longer and apply a tier-based cooldown.
  • Co-op job requests remember the requesting peer and Ludvig follows/returns toward that player using network presence updates.
  • Wood search is more forgiving, including a long-range fallback when local trees cannot be found.
  • Expanded hunting with wolf, lox and hare plus an expensive trophy hunt option.
  • Added IL Tempo Gigante compatibility hook: when a nearby active vehicle object contains “Tempo” and “Gigante” in its name, Ludvig can leave on a paid random-resource adventure.
  • Retains combat hire, co-op voice sync, night light, map pin and modal interaction UI.
  • Movement remains a custom procedural character rig; gait timing and body motion from 1.2.x are retained for compatibility.

1.4.2

  • Adds a physical, procedural Tempo Gigante-inspired vehicle directly to the mod.
  • Brass/copper body, red-rim wheels, exposed pipes, gauges, windshield, steering wheel, headlights and exhaust smoke.
  • Ludvig mounts the driver's seat for Tempo adventure jobs.
  • Car physically drives away and returns before resource delivery instead of instantly vanishing.
  • Wheels and steering animate while driving; headlights work at night.
