README

Allfather

Become Odin. Press F9 and your viking dissolves into a storm of light, and the Allfather steps out. He has lightning, Gungnir, Mjölnir, fire and ice, flight, the wolves of Valhalla, ravens, control of the sky, 35 beast shapes, and Odin himself on the forsaken power key.

Built for Valheim 1.0 (Deep North). Made for single player. It needs only BepInExPack.

Tap B / hold B Use your second power / open its wheel
Hold H Divine Armory (weapons)
Hold J The sky (weather)

Powers

Odin's Might (G, page 1)

  • Allfather's Lightning: hold to fire lightning that chains between enemies.
  • Thunderblood: hold to fire the red lightning of the Deep North staff.
  • Gungnir: a spectral Nord spear that never misses. It smashes through trees and stone and flies back to your hand.
  • Mjölnir: Thor's hammer.
    • Tap: it flies spinning, ricochets between up to 5 enemies, calls lightning down on each, then comes back.
    • Hold: it whirls over your hand while the sky pours lightning into it. Let go and it crashes down where you look in a thunderclap that flattens everything around it.
  • Mark of the Valknut: Odin's knot of the slain. Whatever you look at dies, even bosses.
  • Wrath of the Storm: lightning strikes rain down where you look.
  • Ragnarök: a meteor falls from the sky and leaves a round crater with a raised rim.
  • Murder of Ravens: a flock dives on your enemies.
  • Fimbulwinter: ice spikes erupt around you, everything nearby freezes solid, then shatters.

The Elements (G, page 2)

  • Surtr's Fireball and Breath of Muspelheim.
  • Ring of Fire: the ground keeps burning afterwards.
  • Rain of Fire.
  • Ice Barrage.
  • Earthquake.
  • Hel's Miasma: a poison cloud.
  • Vines of Yggdrasil: roots of the world tree burst up, coil around every enemy nearby, hold them fast and crush them. Living roots rise to fight for you.

Shape the Earth (G, page 3)

  • Dig & Mine: digs the ground and mines rock, ore and trees.
  • Raise Earth, Flatten and Smooth. Flatten levels everything you sweep to one height: the ground you stood on when you pressed.
  • These use Valheim's own terrain system, so changes save with your world.

Second power (B)

  • Thunderstep: become a bolt of lightning and strike down where you look.
  • Valknut Blast: a vast valknut blazes in the sky and every enemy within 60 m falls at once.
  • Odin's Command: whatever you look at kneels and becomes yours, even bosses.
  • Wanderer's Cloak: invisibility, toggled on and off.
  • Geri & Freki: Odin's wolves come down from Valhalla, with the same ghostly look as the Einherjar.
  • Einherjar: viking spirits from Valhalla.
  • Huginn & Muninn: your ravens scout the land.
    • They reveal the map and tell you how many enemies and other vikings are around, by name.
    • They also spot riches in the loaded area: ore deposits (copper, tin, silver, iron, obsidian, flametal) and treasure chests, each marked in its own color.
    • Everyone they find is marked for 45 seconds, so you can hunt them down: a pillar of light rises from each (red for enemies, gold for bosses, blue for vikings), a marker shows on screen through hills and walls with name and distance, and a pin on the map follows them.
  • Huginn: send away or call back the raven that follows you.
  • Loki's Trick: turn a creature into a different creature.
  • Trial of Odin: a raid.
    • The sky turns to storm and the spirits of Valhalla come for you in waves, each bigger and stronger, then Valhalla's Champion with a boss health bar.
    • They are tougher and hit harder than normal, so it's a worthy fight for a god.
    • Win for treasure (coins, amber pearls, rubies and more) and Odin's blessing.
    • Use it again to abandon the trial. It also ends if you fall or run.
  • Draupnir: Odin's golden ring drips treasure (rubies, amber pearls, amber, silver necklaces) to sell to Haldor when you need coin.
  • Return to Valhalla: dismiss all your summons.
  • Some say the second wheel has a second page. Some say the Allfather does not like to be tested.

The Allfather's Judgement (F)

  • The sky turns black and Odin rises behind you, towering, with his ravens.
  • He hurls Gungnir after Gungnir at every enemy in sight while lightning spirals across the land.
  • One blinding final strike follows, and then he leaves you Odin's Blessing: a full heal and double damage for 60 seconds.

Divine Armory (H)

  • 26 legendary weapons appear in your hands at max quality, with a shield or ammo where they need one: Thunderblood and Frostfire, Dyrnwyn, Krom, Mistwalker, Frostner, Slayer, Nidhogg, Berzerkr, Jotun Bane, Demolisher, Himmin Afl, Skoll and Hati, Fenris Claws, bows and the Ripper.
  • They never break and deal 3× damage.
  • Summoning: you raise your hand to the sky, light gathers over your palm, and the weapon lands in your grip with a bolt of lightning. Old weapons dissolve into drifting motes of light.
  • Put Away sends them back.
  • Tools of the Gods (the last page): hammer, hoe, cultivator, scythe, pickaxe, woodcutter's axe, fishing rod with bait, and torch. They never break either.

The Sky (J)

  • Command the sun: Dawn, Noon, Dusk or Midnight. Time moves forward to that hour, so crops and smelters carry on as if the hours had passed. Only the world's host can do this.
  • Odin's Storm (lightning keeps striking your enemies), clear skies, rain, blizzard, mist, ash rain, and the boss skies.
  • Each sky comes with fitting music.

Shapes (K)

  • 35 shapes. Each fights and sounds like the real creature:
    • Its own attacks, with their real reach, arc, timing and damage. Armed creatures like Draugr and skeletons carry their weapons and shields.
    • It moves at the creature's own speed.
    • Left click for its normal attacks, middle mouse for its special: fire, spit or ice from creatures that shoot, a ground slam, or its heaviest blow.
    • Its roar when you change, idle growls, footsteps, jump and pain sounds, and its own swing and impact sounds.
  • The shapes:
    • Wolf, bear, boar and deer.
    • Troll, Stone Golem and Jotun.
    • Flying forms: Bat, Drake, Valkyrie, Moder and others.
    • Every boss, Eikthyr to Fader, just a little smaller than the real thing. The camera pulls back for the big ones.
  • Mortal Guise makes you look like an ordinary viking, in a random outfit of rugged everyday gear each time (hunter's leathers, a ranger's troll-hide, a wanderer's tunic and fur cloak), and you keep every power. Its armory (H) holds humble Mortal Arms: an iron sword, axe, mace, battleaxe, sledge and atgeir, a bronze spear, a copper knife, and bows, all at ordinary damage, plus a second page of Mortal Tools (hammer, hoe, cultivator, iron pickaxe, woodcutter's axe, fishing rod, torch). In the guise and in beast shapes you move like a mortal, with no lightning, and Huginn stays away.

Passive gifts

  • No door is locked for the Allfather. Keyed doors, like the swamp crypts, open without a key.
  • Boss altars answer you without any offering. Just use the altar.
  • All knowledge: while you are the Allfather, every crafting recipe, building piece and planting recipe is known.
    • You can craft anything anywhere, with no workbench, forge or cauldron.
    • Building and crafting are free by default. Turn that off in the settings if you want to pay materials.
    • Nothing is added to your save, so it ends when you become mortal.
  • 300 health and stamina, +150 armor, and 70% less damage taken.
  • No fall damage, and health regenerates quickly.
  • Fire, cold and poison resistance. You never freeze, burn or get poisoned.
  • Double sprint speed. Sprint-jumps go about 4× as high.
  • Every weapon, and your fists, swing 2.5× faster.
  • 1200 carry weight and up to 8 inventory rows.
  • You are 25% bigger, your eyes burn white, you glow faintly, and Huginn the raven follows you.
  • Each time you take up the mantle, the Allfather speaks a word of wisdom.
  • A new armor set every time you transform. There are 10, from the Allfather's Raiment to the Flametal of Muspelheim, each with its own glow (looks only; your real gear is untouched).

Settings menu (F10)

Press F10 in game for the settings menu. It has six tabs:

  • Survival: health mode (Mortal, Can't die or Invulnerable), damage taken, max health and stamina, regen, armor, infinite stamina and eitr, fall damage, elemental resistance.
  • Movement: sprint and jump power, charged jump, carry weight, flight speeds.
  • Combat: a damage multiplier for all powers, swing speed, divine weapon damage, the power-attack blast (size, damage, buildings, crater), what breaks buildings.
  • Powers: lightning, Gungnir, Mjölnir, the Judgement, the Trial of Odin (waves, toughness, strength, arena, rewards), and summons.
  • Look: body size, god armor on or off, rotating sets with a Next set button, glowing eyes, the transform effect, Huginn, HUD and wheel.
  • World: free building, earthshaping brush, inventory rows.

Changes apply at once and are saved when you close the menu. Reset all to defaults puts everything back except your keys.

Configuration

Everything is in BepInEx/config/com.trevor.allfather.cfg:

  • keys
  • damage, cooldowns and radii for every power
  • summon creatures and how they look
  • crater size, and whether the meteor breaks buildings
  • health, armor, resistances, size, carry weight and inventory rows
  • the armor sets (turn rotating off to wear one look of your choice), raven size, and more

Settings left over from older versions are cleaned up automatically.

Notes

  • Terrain changes are permanent. Meteor craters, hard landings and earthshaping change your world. Try them away from your base.
  • Explosions break buildings, your own included: Ragnarök, the power-attack blast, storm strikes, fireballs, earthquakes, Mjölnir's slam and more. Turn that off in F10 → Combat if you fight near home.
  • It's a power fantasy. Free crafting and every recipe known skip the game's progression while you're the Allfather. Turn free building off in F10 → World if you want to pay your way.
  • Built for single player. Most visuals are local, so other players in multiplayer won't see everything.
  • Superviking: if you also use it, don't wear its ring at the same time. Both mods use double-tap Space for flying.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

2.9.2

  • Destruction of buildings (F10 → Combat → Destruction): a master switch. Off = nothing you do as the Allfather (powers, blasts, meteors, landings, divine weapons) can damage a building, and craters won't dig out the ground under one. Mortal Guise weapon swings still work as normal.

2.9.1

  • New toggles (F10): Movement → Flight now has "Lightning blast on take-off", "Impact on landing" and "Aura and contrails". Combat has an on/off switch for the middle-mouse power attack blast.

2.9.0

  • Pointing, in sync: Mark of the Valknut, Odin's Command, Loki's Trick, Rain of Fire, Ragnarök and the Raven Swarm now use a real pointing arm aimed at your target (on foot or in the air). You turn to face it and the power lands the moment the arm is fully out.
  • Held powers keep the arm out: Allfather's Lightning, Ice Barrage, Fire Breath and the earth-shaping powers hold your arm toward the aim while you cast.
  • More animations: Earthquake and Ring of Fire are a two-handed sledge slam that lands on the strike. Fimbulwinter, the wolves, the Einherjar, the scouting ravens, your companion raven and the Trial of Odin raise a hand to the sky. Dismiss waves your summons home.
  • Smoother weapon summon: the hand rises, light gathers, and the weapon swaps in a single moment at the top (no more empty-handed frame in between). The "answers your call" message moved to the corner.
  • Mortal Tools: Mortal Guise's armory has a second page with a hammer, hoe, cultivator, iron pickaxe, woodcutter's axe, fishing rod and torch.
  • Shadow flight is now black mist: a clinging shroud, a smoky wake that hangs in the air, wide smoke contrails, and rolling black mist on take-off, landing, charged jumps and the sonic boom (no glowing purple).

2.8.1

  • Ragnarök is now called down with a point instead of the staff swing.

2.8.0

  • New power: Draupnir (second wheel). Odin's ring drips treasure to sell for coin. The amount is in F10 → Powers.
  • Doors: opening a keyed door as the Allfather now always says "No door is locked for the Allfather", with a flash and a valknut on the lock, even when you carry the key.

2.7.0

  • Grab weapons from the air: summoning a weapon or tool raises your hand to the sky; light gathers above your palm and the weapon lands in your grip.
  • Vanishing: weapons you put away (or swap out) dissolve into drifting motes of light.
  • Mortal Arms: in Mortal Guise the armory (H) holds unassuming gear: iron sword, axe, mace, battleaxe, sledge and atgeir, a bronze spear, a copper knife, and bows. They do ordinary damage and arrive with only a faint shimmer.
  • Flight element: pick Lightning, Fire, Frost, Nature or Shadow (F10 → Movement). It colours your aura, contrails and sonic boom, and changes what bursts out on takeoff and landing (fire, ice spikes, lashing roots or shadow smoke).
  • Pointing: Mark of the Valknut, Odin's Command, Loki's Trick and Rain of Fire now play the point gesture instead of the staff cast.
  • Armor sets: switch off any set that doesn't fit you well (F10 → Look).

2.6.0

  • Explosions tear down buildings: Ragnarök, storm strikes, the Judgement, fireballs, Rain of Fire, earthquakes, Mjölnir's slam, Gungnir's impact and hard landings now break building pieces.
    • Big blasts rip through everything in range over a few frames, not just the first few pieces.
    • Turn it off in F10 → Combat ("Explosive powers break buildings").

2.5.0

  • Ravens find riches: Huginn & Muninn also mark ore deposits and treasure chests (light pillars, screen markers, map pins).
  • No door is locked for the Allfather: keyed doors, like the swamp crypts, open without a key.
  • Boss altars summon their boss for the Allfather with no offering, with a fitting proclamation.
  • Gestures: you point when you cast Mark of the Valknut, Odin's Command and Loki's Trick, and raise your fist for the Valknut Blast.
  • Blink has sound: the dodge whoosh and a crack of lightning.
  • Fireball leaves your hand sooner.
  • Fixed: after a map teleport, the map no longer stays stuck to your cursor.

2.4.0

  • Surtr's Fireball is thrown: an overhand throw, with a flame gathering in your hand before the fireball leaves it.
  • Superhero landing holds the kneel for longer (2.2 s by default, adjustable in F10 → Movement). Moving gets you up early.

2.3.1

  • Odin needs no introduction: his lines no longer start with "ODIN:".

2.3.0

  • A secret. Scroll the second wheel. Odin would rather you didn't. (How long the consequences last can be set in F10 → Powers → ???.)

2.2.1

  • Fixed: your legs kept walking while you flew. The animator is now held still and airborne in flight.

2.2.0

  • Blink: as the Allfather, dodging no longer rolls.
    • You vanish in a scatter of light and reappear a few strides away in the dodge direction.
    • It stops short of walls, follows slopes and ledges, and nothing can hit you mid-blink.
    • Mortal Guise and beast shapes still roll.
    • Distance and an on/off switch are in the settings (Movement tab).

2.1.2

  • Fixed: taking off while swimming kept the swimming pose in the air.

2.1.1

  • Mark of the Valknut moved to the G wheel (Odin's Might, page 1), so it's on left click. Valknut Blast stays on B.

2.1.0

  • Huginn & Muninn scout for you: they count every enemy and viking around you, with a breakdown by name, and mark them so you can find them.
    • The marks are light pillars (red enemies, gold bosses, blue vikings), on-screen markers with name and distance that show through walls, and map pins that follow them.
    • Range and duration are in the settings.

2.0.2

  • Smoother: while a wheel or the settings menu is open, the camera ignores the mouse wheel completely. No more one-frame zoom jump when you scroll pages.

2.0.1

  • Fixed: scrolling through wheel pages (or the settings menu) no longer zooms the camera in and out.

2.0.0

The complete Allfather.

  • New: a word of Odin's wisdom, in the spirit of the Hávamál, each time you take up the mantle. You can turn it off in the settings.
  • Polish: quieter log, an updated README, and everything from 1.1 to 1.9 below. That covers Mjölnir, Vines of Yggdrasil, god armor sets, the settings menu, crafting anywhere, Valhalla's wolves, the Trial of Odin, the Valknut Blast, the shapes overhaul and Bifröst map teleport.

1.9.2

  • Fixed for real: weapons carried by shapes are now sized from the real item, so they match it whatever scale the creature's hand bone carries.

1.9.1

  • Fixed: weapons carried by shapes (Skeleton, Draugr, Charred Warrior) were drawn far too big.
  • Fixed: the camera flew far away for armed shapes and bosses. It now sizes big shapes by their body, ignoring weapons and effects, and never pulls back more than 30 m.

1.9.0

  • Bifröst map teleport: with the big map open, hold Alt and click anywhere to go there, on a rainbow bridge and a bolt of lightning.
  • Back to Odin from a shape or Mortal Guise now puts you in the next armor set.
  • Shapes:
    • You move at the creature's own speed.
    • You hit with its real damage.
    • Armed creatures (Draugr, skeletons and others) carry their weapons and shields.
    • Bosses are just a little smaller than the real thing, and the camera pulls back for big shapes.
  • Mortal Guise and shapes no longer look like the Allfather:
    • Normal sprint and jump, and no charged jump.
    • Flying has no lightning, takeoff thunder or landing blast.
    • Power attacks don't explode.
    • Huginn stays away.

1.8.0

  • Shapes overhaul: every beast now fights and sounds like the real creature.
    • It uses its own attacks, with their real reach, arc and hit timing.
    • Left click is its normal attacks; middle mouse is its special (projectiles like fire, spit and ice, area slams, or its heaviest blow).
    • It has its roar, idle growls, footsteps, jump and pain sounds, and its own swing and impact sounds.
    • Beast damage is in the settings.
  • New power: Valknut Blast. Every enemy around you falls at once.
  • Trial of Odin: Valhalla's Champion is now scaled through the game's own system, so his hitbox matches his size.
  • Mortal Guise outfits are rugged everyday viking gear: leathers, troll-hide, tunics with fur cloaks. No more dresses or hats.

1.7.0

  • New power: Trial of Odin (second wheel). A raid of Valhalla's spirits in waves, then their Champion with a boss health bar.
    • The waves, toughness, strength, arena size and rewards are all in the settings.
    • Win for treasure and Odin's blessing.
  • Mark of the Valknut now has a real valknut icon: three interlocked triangles.

1.6.0

  • Flatten levels properly: each stroke locks to the height of the ground you stood on when you pressed, so everything you sweep ends up on one flat plane. A ring shows the brush, and there's no more blurry smoothing.
  • Free building and crafting is on by default.
  • Removed Fenrir, the wolf you rode.
  • Geri & Freki are wolves of Valhalla: no blue glow, the same ghostly look as the Einherjar. You can switch back to ordinary wolves in the settings.
  • Mortal Guise outfits: a random set of everyday clothes each time (tunics, dresses, rags, leathers, hats), the way the god armor changes each time you transform.

1.5.0

  • Craft anywhere: as the Allfather every recipe can be crafted without a workbench, forge or cauldron. The "Free building" setting now covers crafting too.
  • Valheim look: the settings menu, power wheels and HUD now use the game's own Norse and Averia fonts, its amber-orange text, and dark panels in bronze frames.
  • Fixed: the power-attack blast could go off from blocking (right click) or keep firing. It now only fires for a real power attack, once per press.
  • The sonic boom is on by default again. It fires once each time you reach top speed.

1.4.1

  • Fixed: sprinting while flying no longer sets off blasts.
    • The sonic boom is now off by default. Turn it on in the settings (Movement tab) if you want it, and it fires once per burst.
    • The superhero slam now only happens when you really dive into the ground, not when you skim low or brush treetops.
  • Fixed a big FPS drop: if any object in the world was deleted the wrong way (by any mod, or by a broken dungeon piece), the game threw an error every frame from then on. The mod now clears the broken entry so it stops.
  • Performance:
    • The game effects the mod plays (lightning strikes, thunder, dust) are now local only. Before, each one was also created as a networked world object.
    • Their lights no longer cast shadows.
    • Limits on how many flashes and effects can exist at once.
    • Much less work per creature each frame, which matters in busy places like swamps.
    • A new Lighter effects setting (Look tab) cuts particles further.

1.4.0

  • All knowledge: while you are the Allfather, every crafting recipe, building piece and planting recipe is known. This replaces the Architect of Asgard toggle. Free building is now a setting, off by default.
  • Tools of the Gods: a new last page in the Divine Armory with the hammer, hoe, cultivator, scythe, pickaxe, woodcutter's axe, fishing rod with bait, and torch.
  • Command the sun: Dawn, Noon, Dusk and Midnight on the sky wheel (J).
  • Removed the Freyr harvest, sow and grow powers.

1.3.0

  • Settings menu (F10): six tabs of in-game settings that apply right away.
  • Health modes:
    • Mortal: you can be slain.
    • Can't die: you take damage but never drop below 1 health.
    • Invulnerable: nothing hurts you.
  • Other new settings:
    • Infinite eitr, and a fall-damage toggle.
    • A damage multiplier for all powers.
    • Glowing eyes on or off, and a Next armor set button.
  • Live changes: body size, sprint speed and armor now update the moment you change them.

1.2.0

  • Power attacks (middle mouse) as the Allfather end in a huge blast. It flattens enemies, fells every tree and tears buildings apart. Radius, damage, building damage and an optional crater are all in the config.
  • Freyr's gifts on the left wheel, page 3:
    • Bounty of Freyr harvests everything ripe nearby and brings it to you.
    • Freyr's Sowing tills and plants a whole field.
    • Blessing of Freyr grows every crop and sapling around at once.
  • Architect of Asgard on the second wheel: a toggle that unlocks every building piece, with free building.
  • Flight: feet now point instead of standing flat on the air, and the arms stay down at your sides.

1.1.0

  • New power: Mjölnir.
    • Tap to throw Thor's hammer. It ricochets between enemies with lightning and returns.
    • Hold to charge it with the storm, then release for a huge thunderclap slam.
  • New power: Vines of Yggdrasil replaces Gale of Njord. Roots grab, hold and crush enemies, and living roots fight for you.
  • 10 god armor sets: you step out in a new one each time you become the Allfather, each with its own glow.
  • Charged jump fixed: it now rockets you high into the sky and you keep flying at the top.
  • Flight pose rebuilt: arms swept back at your sides, legs straight behind, and the body lines up with your flight path. The limbs no longer hang limp.

1.0.0

  • First public release. Includes everything from the 0.9.x test builds below.

0.9.1

  • Charged jump: stand still and hold Space.
  • Divine Armory: grown to 26 legendary weapons, with shields and ammo where needed.
  • Look: glowing white eyes in Odin form.
  • Flight: the pose sits up and frees the arms while you attack or cast.
  • Fenrir: the seat is now on his back, behind the shoulders, and he never gets hungry.
  • HUD: the controls line no longer wraps or overlaps.

0.9.0

  • First public build.
  • Powers:
    • Odin's Might page: Lightning, Thunderblood, Gungnir, Storm, Ragnarök meteor, Murder of Ravens, Fimbulwinter.
