README

Feeding Trough — Futtertrog / Etetővályú

The carved World Tree watches over the gifts of forest and field. Beneath a timber roof, hungry beasts find a feast worthy of a Viking homestead.

A RippCast creation for Valheim. Beta release.

Features

  • Build a covered Fine Wood feeding trough with carved knotwork, World Tree decoration, raven ornaments and iron fittings.
  • Open it with E and store food in five inventory slots.
  • Stored foods appear inside the trough as harvested items, mixed together with varied orientations. The display represents the contents rather than showing every item in a full stack.
  • Hungry, calm animals can approach the low front side and consume food allowed by their own diet. One item is removed per feeding.
  • The feeding system uses the game's animal food lists rather than being limited to boars.
  • English, German and Hungarian names and descriptions, with an icon rendered from the actual trough model.

Crafting recipe

Use the Hammer's RippCast category. A nearby Workbench (level 1 is sufficient) is required to build the trough.

Material Amount
Wood 20
Fine Wood 10
Iron 4

Feeding your animals

Fill the trough, close its inventory and leave a clear path to the low, carved long side. Animals need to be hungry and calm. Each animal selects food from its own diet; meat does not become suitable food for a herbivore. Feeding waits while the container is open.

Requirements

  • BepInExPack Valheim
  • Jotunn
  • Valheim launched with mods enabled

Dependencies are declared in this package for automatic installation by compatible mod managers.

Installation

Install with a compatible mod manager such as Gale, select your Valheim profile and launch the game modded.

If you used a manually installed RippCast test build, remove that old copy before installing this package. Keep only one RippCast.FeedingTrough.dll in the profile.

Multiplayer and beta status

Install the same mod version on every player and on a dedicated server if used. Multiplayer ownership handling is implemented, but a full multiplayer and dedicated-server test has not yet been completed. Feeding has been observed with a boar; the broader species support still needs gameplay testing.

The food models have been checked using the installed game's original assets. Version 0.3.4 adds the workbench requirement. Its final in-game placement check is pending; creative/no-cost modes may bypass normal requirements.

Languages / World Tree

  • EN — Feeding Trough: The carved World Tree watches over the gifts of forest and field. Five slots hold food for hungry beasts, each feasting on the morsels it favours.

Names and descriptions follow the selected game language; English is the fallback. Built-in container controls use Valheim's own translations.
