True Level

A Valheim BepInEx mod that lets your hoe flatten terrain to your character's feet height, beyond the normal terrain height limits.

Installation

1. Install BepInEx for Valheim.
2. Close the game and copy TrueLevel.dll into BepInEx/plugins (or your mod manager's active profile).
3. Start the game. If updating, replace the old DLL rather than keeping both versions.

How to use

Equip the hoe, select Level ground, and enable True Level. Each stroke raises or lowers the selected patch to the height of your feet—even when standing on a building.

Type commands in game chat. A message confirms whether the mode is ON or OFF. It starts OFF on first installation and remembers your setting between sessions.

Each stroke uses your current height, so moving uphill or downhill changes the next target height. Normal hoe range, brush size, stamina costs, and placement restrictions still apply.

Things to know

• Back up your world before using the mod. Terrain changes are saved, and turning the mode OFF does not undo them.
• OFF restores normal hoe behavior for future strokes. Keep the mod installed to display terrain changed beyond the normal limits correctly.
• Only Level ground uses True Level. Other hoe modes and tools keep their normal editing behavior.
• The mod changes ground, not boulders, ore deposits, water, or buildings. Large changes can affect building support.
• For multiplayer, install the same version on all clients and the server. Multiplayer behavior has not been fully tested.

Configuration

After the first launch, settings are available in:

BepInEx/config/local.valheim.truelevel.cfg

You can change the keyboard shortcut there. When upgrading from the original default binding, F8 automatically changes to F9 once.
