Rusty Heathens QoL 1.0.9
Valheim quality-of-life features for Rusty Heathens. Built against the supplied Valheim 1.0.21 game assemblies (network 41).
Fixes in this build
- P sorts into matching boxes only. Each material goes into eligible boxes already containing that material. A full matching stack can use a free cell in that matching box or another matching box. Empty and unrelated boxes are never fallback destinations; unmatched items stay on the player.
- Craft while another player has a box open. The current chest owner processes the requested material withdrawal on its live inventory. The box stays open and ownership stays with that player. Repeated messages resend the same receipt instead of withdrawing twice. Recipe execution still requires the materials to arrive in the crafter's inventory.
- Map and inventory cannot overlap. Inventory/backpack opening is blocked while the large map or a text field is active. Opening the large map is blocked while inventory is open. Existing overlap is recovered by closing inventory while preserving the map. Closing actions remain available.
- Backpack transfers do not trigger hotbar actions. Hotbar use and selection input are suppressed while inventory, map or text input is active, including the closing input edge. Unsolicited weapon/tool equips and equip queues are blocked during inventory use. Intentional right-click equips and rearranging current hand equipment remain supported.
Installation
Close Valheim and stop the server. Update to QoL 1.0.9 on the server and every participating client, including the player opening the box. Keep one active QoL DLL per installation. Import the ZIP as a local mod in your manager, or copy plugins/RustyHeathensQoL into BepInEx/plugins.
Keep the existing config and ModGuard allowlist. Plugin GUID is unchanged. Shared crafting requires this version on the peers processing chest withdrawals; do not test it with a mixture of 1.0.8 and 1.0.9.
ServerQoL and ServerSync remain separate mods. The separate ServerSync 1.0.4 build adds reviewed 1.0.21 compatibility.
Retained policies and features
P still excludes private/personal boxes, all active ward areas, occupied boxes, graves, backpacks and vehicle inventories. It still leaves equipment, food and dedicated inventory items alone. Crafting retains its existing range, access and ward-permission checks; P's stricter blanket ward/private exclusions do not apply to crafting.
Six-row inventory and dedicated slots, Rusty Backpack progression, nearby material counts, proximity repair, food tools, character preview, grave markers, craft audit, automation integration and achievement eligibility handling are retained.
Interrupted material delivery
A pending withdrawal is recorded on the chest and character, scoped to the world. If the player has no inventory room, make room and remain near the box: the transfer retries without another withdrawal. A disconnect or timeout does not automatically refund or discard reserved materials. Rejoining the same world near that chest resumes the receipt. A chest with an unacknowledged withdrawal cannot be dismantled/destroyed until delivery is resolved. Cancelling crafting can leave secured ingredients in the player's inventory; it never replays a cancelled craft automatically.
If the waiting message persists after both peers reconnect with this build and sufficient inventory room, retain the client/server logs and report [RHQOL SharedCraft] lines. Do not delete the pending character/chest data. This protocol does not provide a distributed disk transaction across a world rollback and a separately restored character save.
Validation and remaining test
Compilation, production-code tests with simulated game/UI/network state, and checks against the actual supplied game metadata passed. The source bundle includes the logs and reproducible build inputs (game/loader DLLs are not redistributed).
This build has not been run in live Valheim multiplayer. First test with two players: sort wood/stone into separate seeded boxes; craft while the second player keeps the resource box open and moves a stack; type a pin name containing inventory/hotbar keys; and move gear in/out of the backpack. Reopen/reconnect and check item totals. Thunderstore publication/review has not been performed.

Changelog
1.0.6 - 2026-10-18
- Secure missing materials through verified chest-to-player withdrawal before crafting/building; let native Valheim consume player materials. Remove the late deduction bridge.
- Block incomplete preparation; use normal inventory capacity and current owned/access-checked chest contents. Attempt full rollback on preparation failures and pause on uncertainty.
- Retain unused withdrawn materials in player inventory when the native action later declines. Respect free-build/no-cost modes.
- Extend full-inventory guards to bounded containers, preserve partial-stack leftovers, and reject invalid explicit destination cells.
- Preserve P Quick Stack, inventory layout, backpack cap, configs and GUID.
- 33 offline scenarios and 29 actual-game/compiled integration assertions passed; live multiplayer testing remains required.
1.0.5 - 2026-10-18
- Replace P Quick Stack live-item transfers with checked clone transfers, exact capacity/count checks, local serialized chest-save verification, and rollback.
- Refresh owned chests before transfer; stop forcing ownership. Remotely owned chests are skipped with an open/close-and-retry instruction.
- Reject invalid/overlapping inventory slots, preserve source references, and pause on unverified rollback. Log per-use transfer outcomes.
- Keep hotkey/config, six inventory rows, four-row backpack cap, and other QoL features unchanged.
- Sixteen offline transaction scenarios passed; compiled against supplied Valheim 1.0.20 assemblies. Live multiplayer validation remains required.
- Does not restore previously lost items or address the separate chest-crafting/rotation errors.
1.0.4 - 2026-10-15
- Add owner-side safe shrinking and withdrawal-only recovery for oversized legacy backpacks. Preserve all 1.0.3 interaction fixes and the 1.0.2 backpack layout.
- Requires the paired QoL 1.0.4 / ServerQoL 1.0.1 update.
- Offline validation passed; live game testing remains pending.
1.0.3 - 2026-10-15
- Fix the chest discovery RPC name mismatch found in Valheim 1.0.20.
- Add null/stale-reference guards to the hammer radial action.
- Correct quality-sensitive inventory capacity checks and cleanly refuse zero-capacity player additions.
- Preserve 1.0.2 backpack panel placement, existing saves/configuration, and achievement support.
- Rebuild against supplied Valheim 1.0.20 assemblies; correct the prior README game-version typo.
- Validate with offline logic, interaction, layout, achievement and metadata checks. Live game testing remains required.
1.0.2 - 2026-10-15
- Position the container window below the actual expanded player inventory.
- Include Take all, Place stacks, and the container title when calculating clearance.
- Recalculate after the UI updates so GUI scale, panel resizing, and repeated opening do not accumulate position drift.
- Apply the same spacing to normal chests using the shared container window.
- Preserve backpack capacity, scrolling, items, save formats, achievements and other existing features.
1.0.1 - 2026-10-14
- Integrate achievement support into the existing QoL plugin: ignore only the modded flag during the achievement eligibility check.
- Preserve character, item, world, difficulty, and official bypass restrictions; no direct unlocks or saved cheat-state changes.
- Retain the global modded flag and all existing QoL gameplay features.
- Keep the existing plugin GUID and network/config formats. No new dependency or ModGuard entry.
- Package source separately from the Thunderstore install ZIP.
