Rideable Boars

Ride and steer Valheim's boars with a craftable saddle or ride them bareback. A Valheim-style radial menu provides convenient commands for your favourite boar or all nearby tamed boars.

Default controls

• E while targeting a saddle: mount.
• E while targeting the back of an unsaddled boar: ride bareback.
• E while mounted and not targeting another usable object: dismount.
• Left Shift + E while directly targeting the saddle: remove and recover it.
• B: open or close the command wheel.
• Escape: close the command wheel.
• Mouse movement and left click: select and execute a command.
• Normal movement controls: steer; Space: jump.

The command wheel works while moving and stays disabled during text entry. Renaming with Left Shift + E remains available when the saddle itself is not targeted.

Saddle recipe

Craft the Boar Saddle at a level 2 Workbench using 5 Leather Scraps, 2 Deer Hide and 4 Bronze Nails.

Installation

Install with Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman. For manual installation, install BepInExPack for Valheim and copy this package's BepInEx directory into the Valheim directory.

Keep the DLL, saddle AssetBundle and complete icons directory together inside BepInEx/plugins/RideableBoars.

Configuration

The configuration is generated at BepInEx/config/xneliox.rideableboars.cfg. Existing settings from the legacy valheim.boarriding.cfg file are imported automatically.

Multiplayer

Install the same version on the server or host and on every client. Headless servers skip graphical setup while retaining gameplay and network functionality.

Updating and safe removal

Remove obsolete or duplicate BoarRiding.dll and RideableBoars.dll files before updating. Keep only the DLL supplied inside BepInEx/plugins/RideableBoars.

Before permanently removing the mod, remove the custom Boar Saddle from inventories, containers and the world. Back up worlds and characters before installing, updating or removing mods.
