No Cheat Text
Enjoy a clean interface and keep earning achievements while playing modded Valheim.
No Cheat Text is a lightweight client-side mod for Valheim 1.0. It removes cheat-related interface labels and notifications while allowing achievements in modded games and saves marked as cheated.
Version 1.4.0 was compiled and statically checked against the local Valheim 1.0.16 assemblies. In-game multiplayer verification of this refactor is pending; compilation and policy tests are not a guarantee of compatibility with every modpack.
Features
- Enables achievements while BepInEx or other mods are loaded.
- Enables achievements for characters and worlds marked as cheated.
- Hides the cheated-item warning in item tooltips.
- Hides the notification shown after picking up a cheated item.
- Hides temporary and permanent cheat warnings in the Achievements screen.
- Hides the
Cheater!line in the character statistics dialog. - Can hide the cheat-command confirmation text.
- Rechecks known materials and crafting stations after login and restores legitimately available recipes or build pieces that were previously missed.
- Repairs discovery checks that incorrectly require upgrader-only resources at an ordinary crafting station, using Valheim's actual
m_upgraderResourceflag rather than item names. - Runs one native recipe/build-piece reconciliation per local player login; normal item and station discoveries continue on Valheim's own path.
- Preserves ordinary ingredient, station level, DLC, enabled/seasonal recipe checks and actual crafting costs.
- Works entirely on the client; no server installation or synchronization is required.
What the mod does not change
No Cheat Text does not edit or remove the saved cheat markers attached to characters, worlds, or items. It only changes achievement eligibility at runtime and suppresses the related interface text.
Uninstalling restores Valheim's normal cheat checks and text. Cheat flags and items are not rewritten. Legitimately reconciled recipe discoveries are saved normally by Valheim and remain learned after uninstalling.
The mod does not automatically grant achievements. You must still satisfy each achievement's normal gameplay requirements.
Installation
Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman
- Install No Cheat Text and its BepInEx dependency.
- Start Valheim with Start modded.
Manual installation
- Install BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350 or later.
- Copy
NoCheatText.dllintoBepInEx/plugins/NoCheatText/. - Start the game once to generate the configuration file.
Configuration
The configuration file is created at:
BepInEx/config/codex.valheim.nocheattext.cfg
General / Enabled— controls the interface-text suppression features.Achievements / Enabled— allows achievements despite modded and cheated-state checks.General / HideCommandConfirmation— hides the text of Valheim's cheat-command confirmation prompt. The underlying confirmation requirement remains active.Recipes / RepairMissingRecipesOnLogin— enables both the targeted discovery correction and a single delayed native reconciliation after login. Only missing eligible unlocks are announced. Configure before entering the world.
The obsolete ReplayUnlockNotificationsOnce and RepairKnownMaterialRecipesOnce options are no longer read. Existing discoveries are never cleared, and already learned recipes are not re-announced. No manual one-time migration switch is necessary.
Achievement enabling and text suppression can be configured independently.
Compatibility
No Cheat Text patches achievement eligibility, localization token translation, the statistics cheat literal, local player spawn, and recipe ingredient discovery. It should not be installed together with another achievement enabler. Other mods can still suppress unlock popups or filter the crafting UI; this mod does not override those settings.
Remove or disable Yorimor-EnableAchievments, AchievementEnabler, Unshamed, or similar mods before using No Cheat Text.
No Cheat Text does not require Jotunn or ServerSync.
Multiplayer
The mod is client-side. Each player who wants hidden warnings and enabled achievements should install it locally. Dedicated servers do not need it.
Build and verification target
- Local Valheim 1.0.16 assemblies
- Local BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2351 (package minimum remains 5.4.2350)
- Automated tests cover production discovery/text logic and live game method/field contracts. They do not simulate Unity, Steam achievement delivery, Harmony installation in Mono, or multiplayer sessions.
There are no Update/FixedUpdate/LateUpdate handlers, RPC calls, ownership changes, global scene searches or recipe scans on every inventory enumeration. Feature installation failures are logged and isolated. After a game update, check the log for an incompatible-feature warning.
Future Valheim updates may change achievement or interface methods. Check the changelog after major game updates.

CHANGELOG
Changelog
1.4.0 — audited refactor candidate
- Removed duplicate recipe scanners, item/station capture patches, reflection invocation in discovery hot paths, and destructive notification-replay migration switches.
- Corrected discovery of upgrader-only ingredients using the real
m_upgraderResourceflag. Item names no longer decide progression rules. - Kept native DLC, crafting-station and seasonal recipe checks, ingredient OR semantics, build-piece discovery and crafting costs.
- Coalesced login recovery to one native pass per local Player instance, with bounded unscaled readiness polling and teardown cancellation.
- Replaced overlapping localization-overload hooks and substring allocation with one translation-token hook; covered dropped-item and bypass warning keys too.
- Changed eligibility/combined-status hooks to early-out prefixes. Kept the world-status hook as a postfix because its native method also refreshes world-option keys.
- Preserved original stats literals when disabled, validated the transpiler anchor, isolated incompatible patch groups, and refreshed the localization cache on setting changes.
- Added production-policy tests, allocation checks and local game/DLL contract checks. Valheim 1.0.16 runtime multiplayer testing is pending.
1.1.0
- Enables achievements for modded, cheated-character, and cheated-world states.
- Replaces the separate EnableAchievments dependency.
- Keeps all stored cheat markers untouched.
1.0.0
- Hides all Valheim 1.0.7 cheat-related localization messages.
- Hides the raw
Cheater!statistics label. - Preserves character, world, and item cheat flags unchanged.
1.2.0
- Rechecks already known materials and crafting stations after login.
- Restores missing crafting recipes and build pieces through Valheim's native discovery method.
- Existing known recipes are not reset or announced again.
1.2.1
- Added a safe one-time replay of currently available recipe and build-piece unlock notifications.
- Preserves every previous unlock record after rebuilding the available list.
- Added a recipe recheck after item discovery as protection against modded inventory-transfer paths.
1.3.0
- Permanently repairs missing recipes from known material and crafting-station history.
- Ignores Valheim 1.0 hidden idol gates only when deciding whether an already eligible recipe should be discovered.
- Runs a dedicated one-time migration for existing characters and continues checking after login, new item discoveries, and crafting-station discoveries.
- Preserves crafting costs, station requirements, existing recipes, and all character progress.
1.3.1
- Fixed severe inventory and crafting-menu frame drops caused by thousands of redundant recipe scans from linked storage.
- Recipe checks now run only for genuinely new materials or improved crafting stations.
- Bursts of discovery events are coalesced into one delayed check and routine successful checks no longer flood the log.
