QuickPing
A modern revival of the classic QuickPing mod by Atopy, fully updated for Valheim 1.0.
Original mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/2033
About This Revival
This is a community revival of Atopy's original QuickPing mod, updated to work with Valheim 1.0 after the original became incompatible with newer game versions. All credit for the original concept and design goes to Atopy. This revival focuses on:
- Restoring core functionality for Valheim 1.0
- Fixing UI rendering issues that caused minimap freezes
- Improving visibility with distance scaling and tracer beams
- Cleaning up internal object names for better readability
Features
- Floating World Text — Ping any object to see its name displayed in bright yellow text with a black outline. Text scales with distance and always faces you.
- Smart Map Pins — Automatically adds themed pins to your minimap for useful objects:
- 🔨 Hammer icon for ore deposits (copper, tin, silver)
- • Point icon for berries, mushrooms, and thistle
- ᚱ Rune icon for dungeons, crypts, caves, and portals
- 🔥 Fire icon for campfires and bonfires
- Tracer Beam — A white beam of light shoots 150m into the sky when you ping, making it easy to spot locations through forests and terrain.
- Clean Names — Internal object names are automatically cleaned into readable text (e.g.,
rock4_copper(Clone)becomesRock 4 Copper). - Force Pin — Hold the force-pin key to add a pin to any object, even if it's not in the smart-pin list.
- Rename — Rename pins by pressing the rename key combo.
- Persistence — Pins and custom names are saved per-world and reload on next login.
Default Controls
| Action | Key |
|---|---|
| Ping | Z |
| Force Pin | Y |
| Rename Pin | Y + Left Alt |
All keybinds are configurable in the mod settings.
Requirements
Configuration
Settings are located in BepInEx/config/com.atopy.plugins.quickping.cfg after first launch. You can change:
- Keybinds
- Ping colors
- Whether to show floating text
- Whether to auto-add pins
- Closest-pin merge range
- Pin lifetime
Known Limitations
- World text is rendered locally. Other players will see the pin on the map but need this mod installed to see the floating name.
- Some rare objects may display internal names if they lack a proper hover name.
